"Welcome to our humble home" is another one from the movie that always stuck with me...😋
To me, this is, by far, the greatest Billy Bob Thorton movie. He completely transformed himself. I don't even see Thorton at all. He also wrote and directed it, which is awesome.
One of the best movies I have ever watched.
The first part of the movie up to C\arl getting off the bus is from a play called "They call it a sling blade". it was filmed in black and white and is basically Carl's speech to the reporters. Almost word-for-word what's in the movie.
That was Billy Bob's initial effort to develop the character and mannerisms of Karl.

You really gotta give it up for country music singer Dwight Yoakam, who played the a-hole boyfriend. That role was pivotal to the whole story. He was the antagonist, and blowing that role could've ruined the entire movie. And the fact that he wasn't an actor, made it even more impressive.
I traveled a few miles to Benton last year to find the shooting locations. Coincidentally, Burt Reynold's White Lightening was filmed there, too, especially the courthouse.

My wife hates that I can sound like Karl Childers and Forest Gump. The place and casting for the movie was easy for Billy Bob Thornton filmed where he grew up and a lot of the cast were locals . Add Mr Woodcock to your reviews

A few comments..... LOVE the introduction!! My first car - a 1964 Chev Biscayne (I was horrified - my friends thought I was cool as sh** - LOL). This was a classic. Billy Bob Thorton is an amazing actor. Kudo's to John Ritter (r.i.p). Can't wait to see part two ...
I would love to have that old Cougar in my driveway again.

Just 9 mins in and I'm already wishing part 2 was available. Between the Samson reactions and you reacting to sling blade I've gotta sub.
I am working on part 2 ... LOL .. My old ass computer and me. Probably gonna be 4 or 5 days for me to post part 2. Currently 8 minutes of 'edit' into the last 75(ish) minutes of movie and it has taken a little over 4 hours.

I am ashamed to say -- I never saw it before this reaction. I think when it came out, I was in the midst of a NO Billy Bob Movies kinda thing. I don't fully recall. But, I imagine it was something like that.
