SAME HERE! - I have recently left a political cult. One of the major parties, does NOT matter which one. Because they BOTH are cults and have been captured by special interests, they both have ZERO real convictions or principals (all about money) and have become terribly corrupt. I am an independent voter for the first time in my life. Have been questioning everything I thought politically. We truly live under what is effectively One PARTY Rule!!!! What I like about Jimmy is that I can trust him, so that when he gets things wrong (which I think is relatively frequently) he does just that: *gets it wrong* . Whereas TYT I do NOT trust, they actively lie, misrepresent and smear, which is why I don't trust them and think they are loathsome.

My sentiment towards Jimmy is roughly "He's correct about the establishment, but he hasn't figured out yet that Trump isn't part of the establishment." He views both the Republicans and Democrats as two sides of the same coin, and he's mostly correct in that assessment. What he doesn't see is that the Tea Party / MAGA / America First movement have effectively taken over the Republican Party in very much the way both Jimmy and TYT had hoped their Justice Democrats would have done to the Democrat Party. Everything Jimmy wants done in politics is happening on the Republican side, but because it's right wing he can't see it.
I’m certainly far more to the right than Jimmy but agree with him most of the time. I don’t get my panties in a bunch over the few things that he says that I disagree with. And much of the time it’s not like he’s pushing a right/left agenda, he’s pointing out the ridiculousness of a given policy or action of those in power, which happens to be Sleepy Joe and the Democrats at the moment. Even then, he really wants them to do better and that why he goes after them.

We don't agree on everything, but his willingness to look at each issue and build alliances accordingly reminds me of a time when people could simply agree to disagree. It is amazing that, completely independent of outside influence, I ended up watching both AJW AND JD. Having a range of opinions where the underlying facts are the same has been useful. If for nothing else, it's fun to manhandle people who get their information from the mainstream.

I personally fall somewhere between a libertarian/conservative constitutionalist (depending on the issue), but what I appreciate about Jimmy Dore (and Sean) is that they hold truth and facts as tantamount. There was a time I was more progressive then Gandhi and yet I still held some conservative view points. Such as believing English should be the only language our citizen tests should be give in and being anti immigration, on that one I’m more conservative then conservatives. This discussion about yet another Jimmy Dore v. TYT spat just solidifies for me this realization I've had that the real issue in this Culture War (TM) battle-- and the actual delineation between those who I disagree with but still respect vs. those who I share zero common ground with morally and ideologically-- doesn't actually come down to left vs. right, but those who are "the ends justify the means" types vs. those who aren't. Put more elegantly: the authoritarian vs. the more libertarian. Yanno, the y-axis on the political persuasion coordinate system from those online quizzes we've all taken (and some are cringe enough to use as their profile pics...no offense to you lot). Well, I'm increasingly realizing that that axis of persuasion-- or the axis of Utilitarian/Collectivist vs. Deontatological/Universalist-- is far more important when it comes to our core beliefs and ethics than whether one is more left-leaning or right-leaning. You can see this clearly in how Dore is opposed to the FBI and their actions on principle (whether misguided or not), whereas the Young Turks, for all their anti-cop rhetoric, are willing to withhold their criticism when the FBI go after Trump- because the ends justify the means.
The question is how do defeat or at least contain the “side” that is willing to do whatever it takes “by any means necessary?” It’s much harder to convince people to have principles and stand for an agreed upon set of morals and values, rather than just doing what you want, when want, how ever you want in order to “win.” It requires much more work and effort. People are lazy in that regard, especially after decades of rot inducing propaganda. Those unwilling to “do whatever it takes” are limited to what ever structure or paradigm makes up their moral system, which puts the “do whatever it takes” crowd at an advantage. They are not inhibited in their forms of attack in anyway. The very parameters in which we operate are set by them, yet they operate outside those parameters. To me this is the most difficult problem, next to convincing people to not be one of them.

He covers studies and papers and keeps speculation and anecdotal evidence to a minimum, and with that in mind when it comes to adverse reactions to the jibjab he recently covered a study in where 1 in 3 people were effected. Another one that suggested a 1 in 300 chance, with 1 in 5000 being serious. It's slow, but the truth about what's going on is slowly trickling out.

I’m a left leaning civil libertarian independent and from years of watching Dore I think he’s an independent thinking, issue by Issue progressive. He’s gotten way better in the identity group/intersectionality movement. He’s quietly avoided it and occasionally criticized those lunatics. I think the left treatment of the Kyle Rittenhouse and Jussie Smollett stories opened his eyes a little bit.

And by "leftist," I don't mean what people on the right call leftist that's actually just radical progressivism (which is often leftist but still isn't accepted as leftist by self-declared leftists). That being said, while he is wrong about so much, I believe he's mostly honest and has good intentions. Honesty and good intentions aren't enough--idiocy will kill a person just as much as malice--but I will say he's one of a group of people that far left that I can list on one hand that I believe is honest and well intentioned.
I think he just has a lack of understanding on how economics work and social programs. Other than that he actually agrees with conservatives on a decent amount of current issues in our society. Not everyone is gonna have the same solutions to the problems, but at least he sees them and is willing to admit them.

My point is that while he's on a comparable place on the left-right spectrum to, say, the guys on The Convo Couch who spill bad faith takes and really are like a slightly better informed yet just as venomous TYT, I believe he tries to give good faith even when he disagrees with his opponent. He's had a couple of good talks with people across the aisle and he sees nothing wrong with agreeing with people on the right about things like defunding the FBI. What he doesn't see is that the Tea Party / MAGA / America First movement have effectively taken over the Republican Party in very much the way both Jimmy and TYT had hoped their Justice Democrats would have done to the Democrat Party. Everything Jimmy wants done in politics is happening on the Republican side, but because it's right wing he can't see it.

I’m certainly far more to the right than Jimmy but agree with him most of the time. I don’t get my panties in a bunch over the few things that he says that I disagree with. And much of the time it’s not like he’s pushing a right/left agenda, he’s pointing out the ridiculousness of a given policy or action of those in power, which happens to be Sleepy Joe and the Democrats at the moment. Even then, he really wants them to do better and that why he goes after them.
I've been following Jimmy for a long time. We don't agree on everything, but his willingness to look at each issue and build alliances accordingly reminds me of a time when people could simply agree to disagree. TYT spat just solidifies for me this realization I've had that the real issue in this Culture War (TM) battle-- and the actual delineation between those who I disagree with but still respect vs. those who I share zero common ground with morally and ideologically-- doesn't actually come down to left vs. right, but those who are "the ends justify the means" types vs. those who aren't. Put more elegantly: the authoritarian vs. the more libertarian. Yanno, the y-axis on the political persuasion coordinate system from those online quizzes we've all taken (and some are cringe enough to use as their profile pics...no offense to you lot). Well, I'm increasingly realizing that that axis of persuasion-- or the axis of Utilitarian/Collectivist vs. Deontatological/Universalist-- is far more important when it comes to our core beliefs and ethics than whether one is more left-leaning or right-leaning. You can see this clearly in how Dore is opposed to the FBI and their actions on principle (whether misguided or not), whereas the Young Turks, for all their anti-cop rhetoric, are willing to withhold their criticism when the FBI go after Trump- because the ends justify the means.
Its about time people realize what you have put into words.
The question is how do defeat or at least contain the “side” that is willing to do whatever it takes “by any means necessary?” It’s much harder to convince people to have principles and stand for an agreed upon set of morals and values, rather than just doing what you want, when want, how ever you want in order to “win.” It requires much more work and effort. People are lazy in that regard, especially after decades of rot inducing propaganda. Those unwilling to “do whatever it takes” are limited to what ever structure or paradigm makes up their moral system, which puts the “do whatever it takes” crowd at an advantage. They are not inhibited in their forms of attack in anyway. The very parameters in which we operate are set by them, yet they operate outside those parameters. To me this is the most difficult problem, next to convincing people to not be one of them.

People should follow John Campbell (and his comment section) when it comes to information in regards to the pandemic. I’m a left leaning civil libertarian independent and from years of watching Dore I think he’s an independent thinking, issue by Issue progressive. He’s gotten way better in the identity group/intersectionality movement. He’s quietly avoided it and occasionally criticized those lunatics. I think the left treatment of the Kyle Rittenhouse and Jussie Smollett stories opened his eyes a little bit.
Left↔️Right Populism is the only way out of this mess. Centrist milquetoast policy and politics got us where we are now.
What kind of policies would that kind of Left-Right populism entail?

Jimmy Dore is a leftist. And by "leftist," I don't mean what people on the right call leftist that's actually just radical progressivism (which is often leftist but still isn't accepted as leftist by self-declared leftists). That being said, while he is wrong about so much, I believe he's mostly honest and has good intentions. Honesty and good intentions aren't enough--idiocy will kill a person just as much as malice--but I will say he's one of a group of people that far left that I can list on one hand that I believe is honest and well intentioned.
I think he just has a lack of understanding on how economics work and social programs. Other than that he actually agrees with conservatives on a decent amount of current issues in our society. Not everyone is gonna have the same solutions to the problems, but at least he sees them and is willing to admit them.

My point is that while he's on a comparable place on the left-right spectrum to, say, the guys on The Convo Couch who spill bad faith takes and really are like a slightly better informed yet just as venomous TYT, I believe he tries to give good faith even when he disagrees with his opponent. He's had a couple of good talks with people across the aisle and he sees nothing wrong with agreeing with people on the right about things like defunding the FBI. I don't watch him religiously so I could be wrong with this take, but even so, from what I've seen I think he's a guy I can at least respect, in contrast to anyone on TYT or the Sam Seder Show.

Leftist is used because Democrats, Progressives, Statist, and Liberal are always transitory terms until the next rebranding. They don't want Democracy, so that isn't a good name. They don't want liberty, so that isn't a good name. They don't want progress, so that doesn't work either. They will always be Leftists, though.
@@davyboy9397 Yes, but remember: many leftists who deny identity politics STILL want revolution comparable to that in Communist countries. Their gripe with identity politics has more to do with engaging in proper revolution. It's classical Marxism in contrast to the mutated, "woke" cultural Marxism. That's not to say that they don't truly believe in racial equality (which I commend), but they mostly believe in a different mechanism for revolution that will most certainly NOT end in true equality.
Sean you need to get a Jimmy Door recliner chair. Soft, obviously Blue in color, but with the Jimmy Door logo on it. When you feel stressed out, you can relax in that chair. It has a place to put your phone so you can watch The JImmy Dore show while relaxing.

I've agreed with Jimmy here and there in some things, and I watch him to get a different perspective, but he feeds narratives too much for me to say I like/ support him. For example: His views on Venezuela. (I was born and raised there, I would know he has no idea what he's talking about regarding the politics there)
He does argue good points sometimes though. But that's about it.
He went at the establishment on covid, russia-gate, and Ukraine. He went at them harder than anyone. Have a little respect.
