Very cool vid and a very nice place to fly, sadly there are no sites like this in the Netherlands, I need a lot of volts and KV's to achieve such speeds here..............
@taxiuniversum - No motor. It's called dynamic soaring. Do a search. If you want to see an HD camera on a sailplane, look at my latest video. Problem is you have to fly *very* smoothly for it to look good. On this DS plane it would just be ground, sky, ground, sky, ground sky.. nothing recognizable. As for the wind shield. It had one. The people you heard talking were 40-50 feet away. I didn't talk anywhere in the video, while close to the Zoom H2.
Haven't seen such a enjoyable DS video like this in a while. Thanks for sharing that with us. Question for you. I have a BPV wizard myself and was wondering if you know of any folks switching to 2.4 on this ship? Currently I have a 72 MHz and been tossing and turning about going 2.4. I see you're running the 72MHz as well. I don't recall if the nose and Fuse are CF.
@Ricom69 All the BPVs I owned or seen of have carbon fuses. I can't speak to those made in the last year or so. I'd be leery of using 2.4Ghz on this plane, unless I had good telemetry to tell me the quality of the signal.
@ wmcneal42: Why no motor? I think this thing DOES have a motor or doesnt it? Secondly, and at the maker of this video: I was quite disappointed you didnt put the HD Hero on the plane. Why didn´t you? And my recommendation: Do get a rycote windshield for your ZOOM H2. People might just begin to understand you. ;-)
mundorc Weldon is about 30 miles east of Bakersfield California near Lake Isabella. It is generally considered one of the premiere DS locations in the world due to its consistent winds in the spring and fall, ease of access and friendly landing zone. Pilots come from all over the world to fly here.
@wmcneal42 - 200 is nothing these days. Some of us went 300+mph there, three days in a row. Highest speed of the week for this hill was 393mph with a 100" Kinetic.
@@crimay2158 I don't think it is manufactured any more. Its airfoil was designed for F3F racing, but today there are better designed airfoils, and stronger/lighter/slipperier F3F planes. This particular plane had a speed limit around 350mph and just would not go faster due to the airfoil. One can go that fast or faster today with a Dynamic 80, or Kinetic 2m or Kinetic 130...
@hagfelsh I've never made an onboard video of DSing. Others have, and generally it's not that interesting. Just ground, sky, ground, sky, ground, sky, and lots of shaking.
Having just watched the video for the first time I can say it is by far my favorite.Whoever the pilot is has some awesome skills!Great flying.
Thanks. I was filming and piloting.
This has got to be one of my favourite pieces of Dynamic soaring footage - really nice - bit more than your usual round and round in circles...!
Awesome flying daemn42. My first time seeing the video.
Thanks. It's a classic.
Thanks for sharing the experience, especially the true sound from these planes.
Very nice work. Usually you miss the sound due to wind noise, but this sounds wicked - looks great too :-)
Keep watching this vid Ian every time I need a DS fix. Nothing better.
Amazing, great to see you working all the slope as well, I can't believe I watched 10 minutes of glider footage :-)
DSing what can I say, fast mad and better than brugs.
Cool video can't wait to get back on are hill for more.
Awesome , dude
nice sound!!!! and great pilot

@daemn42 Yeah I suppose it's pretty rough at that speed. What an amazing thing to do with a plane though, wow!! How did you learn this art?
hypnotic, great sound. Weight ?
good exercise vid for the eyes to keep you focus. try finding the plane at all time.
EPIC!
Awesome stuff!, do you have GPS coordinates of the site so that we can locate it on Google earth?

200mph WITHOUT a MOTOR! Awesome!
@daemn42 Ian, I couldn't find an on-board video of DS.. did you remove it, or am I confused?
Incredible daemn42. Are you the pilot?
Thanks. Yes, I am the pilot.
daemn42 Very good control man. Beautiful DS sounds from the plane. Where is Weldom? France?
