'Tell you you're the greatest, but once you turn they hate us.' It is the lyric for the ones who wants to create peace and keep balance and then receives hate. Vander to Violet, Grayson to Caitlyn.

And that right there, is one of the things that a big part of the fandom lacks, the ability to analyse a choice made by a character. I mean, yeah, at first you can see it as Vi "flipping the coin", but at the end of thee day, it fits her character, or she makes it fot herself, she realizes that an institution isn't corrupt/bad per se, but their members are. And there's the need for someone to make a difference, and with her own ways and convictions, she ends up being that difference, staying at the side of the ones that she holds dear, and defending them, or being their moral compass, you name it. So yeah, she finds it conflicting at first, but after a period of struggle (and that depressive period after the breakup) she finds a way to show what truly means wearing that badge, once again out of her ideas, intentions, and deepest feelings. Even with her flaws and chaotic manners, there's absolutely no bad bone in her, Vi is a character that you can't even think of hating...

That's why it hurts the most the hate Vi is receiving lately and I think is quite hypocritical. The fandom supported a drugdealer and a Terrorist and not woman who was trying to do the right thing and protect everyone she could.

    • @WhitemaneCassandra
      @WhitemaneCassandra 12 годин тому

Let's just wish that the ones who support them get that filthy bloody hell drugdealer as their state leader and get that terrorist as their co-worker or competitor. Love them? Fine, then receive as many as possible. I prefer enjoying Vi's love and protection.

The drug dealer and the terrorist were well-written characters. And so was Vi.....in the first season. The second season assassinated a lot of character arcs, especially Vi and Caitlyn's. They were done reeeeeeal dirty this season.

Vi only took the badge as soon as she found out Cait fought for her to become one. that she was willing to turn on her own people for her.
That action showed Vi that she loved her. Thats why she took the badge out of love. Someone fought for her, And well it's really really rare in her life to have that.

Let's be honest, Vi is the character that people hates because is resposible. She is the character that says: ypur circumstances don't define you, what define you are your choices. Vi everytime has a good heart even when she had the worst part. She's the best.

Thank you for this video! I will never understand the hatred towards Vi. All the other charcacter change their views but everybody is focused on her. I mean, Jinx joined Silco, who planned to kill all her family and stabbed Vander, Ekko teams up with Heimy and Jayce who are both in the Council, Sevika herself ended up in the Council, all Zaun fought alongside Piltover and wore uniforms. But no, let's just blame Vi😅

You can like Jinx, but people take it too far and somehow excuse her and put a heavy pin on Cait and Vi being the ones at fault

Sorry but who caused her so much pain is Silco more than enforcers, he kill her family and trying kill her Vi and separate the sisters. And on top of that, Silco made Jinx's psychological state worse.

  • @WickedHumor

Great analysis. The way I see it, Vi could choose 1 of 2 options:
    1. Sit on the sidelines and watch Piltover invade Zaun under Ambessa's council(way out of character for Vi)
    2. Join Caitlyn's strike team and root out the corruption in Zaun while keeping an eye on Caitlyn, advocating for minimal negative impact on Zaunites, and personally dealing with Jinx like she wanted to in the first place.
I'm not sure why people think it was an easy decision. She was clearly struggling with it, and continued to even after accepting the badge. But it was necessary.
Sure, she betrayed her childhood beliefs. But life isn't black and white, and anyone who's lived long enough can tell you that the world is full of gray.

Singed said it best saying We do acts others deem unspeakeable for love. Vi's able to seperate her Caitlyn from the Enforcer Caitlyn who didn't act like herself due to the pressures put on her imo, like when she hallucinates Cait dancing and she punches the random guy she saw Cait in the enforcers outfit. But later when she hallucinates Cait its the kind Cait she remembers not in that uniform. I might be looking too much into it but they did pick that choice of how Vi saw Cait when she punched that guy on the dance floor.

another nice vid. Even if she doesn't look it or sometimes show it, one thing i think VI does, is she really does Love people so much, especially the ones in her life. She cares so much, that she thinks its gets her in trouble sometimes, like when she released jinx from the jail cell for example. Even being in that prison cell all those years, she still has a good heart deep down and i think at first she was scared to show it until she got with cait and they started to click.

14:04 oh wow I didn’t think of that!!
(Also I commented before but not too sure if it got deleted 😅)
This is beautifully analysed! As I watched s2 for the first time, to me it was clear as to why Vi made those choices (also might be biased because she’s my favourite and my pfp says it too 😂). To me, Vi’s happiness comes from other people; when they show they care for her and have her back, she returns that love. She lives for others, and other people’s happiness is hers too, which isn’t a bad thing (at least to me, the way she was written), but it does lead to neglecting herself and/or something tragic happening to her.
She’s also a stunted character (being imprisoned for 7/8 years, so being stuck and denied to progress with her life while the rest of the world changes) and does what she think it’s the best given the circumstances.
Her resilience and heart of gold is what resonated with me and makes me love her so much 😭💖

It makes sense, her being there would ease tensions between Piltover and Zaun since by joining the Enforcers that shows not all Zaunites want conflict with Piltover, she had no choice to save her people so it makes sense

Ambessa claims that she understands suffering and sacrifice in a way that other people can't, but she's literally richer and more powerful than the entirety of Piltover combined. All the loss and pain she has ever endured (as far as the canon has made us aware) has been the result of her own ambition, not something forced upon her by powers greater than herself
I think it's people like Vi who truly understand suffering and sacrifice in a way that Ambessa couldn't even fathom. Decisions like first putting on the badge hurt her deeply, but to protect Caitlyn from Jinx, to protect the undercity from the enforcers, and even in a misguided attempt to protect the memory of Powder, she does it anyway

I don't think Vi ever regretted taking the badge. She is the kind of person when she decides to do something she is all in. She even defends her decision when Jinx calls her on it.
Not stated but I think Loris has a role in her becoming one as he is clearly a member or former member.
I think the battle at the end cements her future as one as she sees so many selflessly defend the people. With Cait leading them they can be more than assholes with a badge.

It’s often forgotten that sacrifice is THE important aspect of the show. Both Caitlyn and Vi surrendered their lives to preaching principles of their mentors who with their confidential partnership proved that no citizen, above the ground or beneath it, deserved to be oppressed and have the need to fear the other. Grayson saying that she shoots to protect people and letting Caitlyn hold on to that, and Vander preaching the importance of being good hearted and protecting the family(which can be blood linked and also not) did plant the sapling of perspective and acceptance in Vi despite all the hard ships. And to be fair, Caitlyn wouldn’t be able to succeed in her attempts to heal the city if Vi wasn’t to ground her.
Having a family is a blessing, and we’ll all have to depart someday and accept it. Vi losing hers(twice) and yet becoming an enforcer doesn’t mean she’s over with grieving, doesn’t mean has grown numb, doesn’t make her a hypocrite. On the hindsight, she continues to nurture the lesson, the sapling Vander has put in her. It grows with her, and overtime she realises that she can barely handle its roots on her own; how much love she is capable of offering still. It’s the world to blame that continues to break her, despite of which she knows for the fact that her family is where her love is. She NEEDS to love, she does not have a family that sticks with her and lets her put her love into, she needs to be the pillar of support as you beautifully worded it whenever she can be, because that’s all she has forever known about herself. She finds it in Caitlyn, she finds it in their mutual interest in giving people of Zaun the justice, she finds it in the world that reciprocates it even a bit. Love really is the only thing we know as living beings, because it can be found almost anywhere, in anyone and anything we put ourselves out to. Families are to be found, and not always be given. Love is to be learnt, and not always be known.

@ I like what Jinx became... She became Powder. Jinx fell in her. Where Vi didnt.. If we're going to list all the pains of Jinx... Lets take alook at Vi shall we?
      Vi
1 Seeing her parents dead infront of her, Knowing very well what happened to them.
2 Having to become Powders mother and also look after 2 other boys
3 watching everyone she loved die because her sister didnt do what she was told.
4 going to prison being the age of 15 with adults of both sex. Having to survive 7 years... No doubt being phycally and sexually abused.
5 in that time within prison having to live for 7 years not knowing what happened to your little sister.
6 getting out and finding out she had gone rotten and is always trying to kill you
7 she falls inlove and her sister kills her loves mother and its turns her love inside out with grief
8 her love then dumbs her after their first kiss leaving her abandoned and alone like she was in prison..... For 4-7 months...
9 gets powder back and Vander and then staight up looses them again. And then her sister locks her in the very cage she spent 7 years in.
10 She gets Poweder back... But powder lets go... And all that pain and suffering for and because of powder and Jinx was for nothing.
Your entie lifes struggle was to protect your sister... And then she "Dies"
Yet through all that Vi didnt kill anybody that didnt deserve it.
Jinx fell in her darkness and let it turn her foul. Only by the end did powder come back. And im excited to see what they do with her in the future.
I dont hate Jinx, I'm ashamed of what she became. I'll always support Powder.

And I want to add another thing and it is (Forgiveness And Moving Forward)
Some people don't know that one of the messages that the Arcane writers want to send us is forgiveness and moving on, that your attachment to the past and hatred and resentment, these things make the situation worse for the character and increase her pain as we saw with Jinx and her intense hatred of Piltover and Caitlyn who did not do anything to her, increased her suffering and problems and her committing catastrophic mistakes, and the same thing with Caitlyn, her intense hatred for Jinx made her lose people around her, and increased her suffering and committing mistakes.
The same thing with Vi, these people who claim that they understand Vi's character do not care that she has changed and developed for the better. And I am talking about Vi's hatred for the enforcers. I see many posts criticizing Vi for this, such as Vi should not return to join them in the end. I just don't see that this is a bad thing at all, I see it as a good thing. Like who knows maybe Vi joining the Enforcers is a good thing to help her people in the future, and also to be by Caitlyn's side like her deputy, when Caitlyn becomes sheriff. And help her to fix the Enforcers system and make them serve the people for the greater good of both cities.
So I don't understand why people want Vi to keep hating the Enforcers, I understand that they k*lled her parents and locked her in prison for years, but seriously guys this is not Caitlyn's fault, why they want Vi to keep hating Caitlyn? Like Caitlyn was the first person in Piltover to treat her a good way, Caitlyn didn't care that she was from Zaun, she didn't care that she was a criminal, it's like Caitlyn was the first person to show Vi love and care in a very long time, Caitlyn was the first person to show her that there are good people in Piltover, the show wants to show us that we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves on people before we get to know them first, and not because of a bad experience, stopping my whole life and living in hatred and resentment for people who are hurting me, this will destroy me psyche.

    • @Taj_SAS
      @Taj_SAS 13 годин тому +1

Plus I know that moving on is not easy, but sometimes we have to do it for the sake of a better future for ourselves and the people around us. And that is exactly what the characters in the show did. Caitlyn gave up her hatred for Jinx in favor of her love for Vi. Caitlyn knew that continuing in the cycle of violence and hatred would destroy her. Same thing with Jinx. She gave up her anger towards Vi after she joined the enforcers, in order to reunite with Vander. She also gave up her hatred towards Caitlyn after she learned that Cait was a good person and not an evil enforcer as she thought. Of course, the reason was after Jinx saw that Caitlyn helped them. Caitlyn's desire to help Vander changed Jinx's view of Caitlyn. Also, something more important, and I am sure that made Jinx change her view of Caitlyn, is when she saw that Caitlyn did not come to her to k*ll her. She came to her and admitted her mistake, and then Jinx did the same thing and admitted her mistake too.

Silco and Jinx's relationship is likely co-dependent. I doubt Silco told Jinx Vi left her in order to hurt her or worsen her trauma, he did it because he himself was afraid. He was afraid of losing Jinx.
I don't think this excuses his behaviour however i do think it makes him human. He's by no means a good person, but he isn't a monster.
People fail to realize that Vi wasn't just randomly causing Jinx distress. She was trying to stop her from killing Caitlyn as she was about to finish her. Vi was wrapped up, she didn't know any better than to try to bring Powder back as she's more merciful than Jinx.

But the only time she doesn't wear the badge is when she wakes up in Cait's room in ep8 until the start of the final battle.

I don't understand the hate towards Vi at all. Everything you said was something I understood and got after act 1 dropped. Heck, even before it began we could clearly see in the trailer that Vi wasn't happy to be there (in the Bunker during the council meeting), but she was. And also one other ting is that Vi felt guilty for Cassandra's death and everything Vi did in act 1 was to take Caitlyn's pain away, yes joining the enforcers is part of it too. There were no political ideals involved, no history in her making that decision, just wanting to take care of Caitlyn. I woke up crying for three days after act 1 because of how it ended, girl didn't deserve anything that happened to her.

For me it was just the roll call scene of the squad at the end of episode one. It was so over the top and included randos. Like why even was maddie there?
It felt like a parody. I was laughing so hard. I know it was supposed to be a serious and cool moment but it was so over the top.
The gear was too cartoonish steam punk and i just couldn’t.
Through out season two the outfits get closer to the video game. And the video game didn’t bother itself with realist, practical or cohesive.
There were some moments where the outfits and gear were non sensical, obvious examples being the gauntlets and hammer, but they didn’t completely take me out of the story.
No they didn’t handle vi’s character arc super well. But for her choice to join up? I can’t stop laughing at the image. Makes vi’s choice hard to take seriously.
