This the first video I'm watching of yours and I think I'm going to stick around, amazing content, great thumbnail, video was produced very fabulously and the voice-overs 👌 Exactly the kinda videos I crave. Loved it!
Nice work Tanner you are going to have an epic car when your done you can get a new car but that feeling when you build your own and know every nut and bolt priceless big cudos to you mate
When I paid $110 for the alloy hood from an RA, I had no idea I'd spend around $2000 to get it to fit properly, and stripped, hand straightened, and repainted. From memory it takes 12kg out of the front of the car. My WRX-based Tommy kaira M20b is almost back after a 10-month restoration, and I can hardly wait to get back in her. With the interior out completely, my guy has deadened every panel on the car, and it will have no rattles! :)
Also steering rack - on the U joint you’ll need to trim past the bolt that clamps it on. Drill a new hole as there’s plenty of martial and add a bolt and nut.
Damn all that suspension and new hardware looks sooo fine !! My ocd is totally satisfied 👌 Would love to see you flipping out , in a good way dude just coz your so chill ❤
Hey bro I feel like you need to get a 3D printer to help with all the custom fab, brackets and such. For example, you can print flexible material for bushings or spacers to mount the oil cooler or to mount lines to it. They also have engineered materials like glass fiber ABS, carbon fiber abs/asa or pc for parts that bear loads and/or exposed to heat. You can get some super sweet custom solutions to some of your projects. If you need anything like this designed or printed and don’t want to invest in a printer or learning CAD you can hit me up. I’m an engineer working in part design for heavy duty equipment (construction, agriculture, caterpillar etc) and can help out with some custom solutions if needed. Looking great so far and love the video, as always.
A little too late, but dry ice would have worked just fine on that sound deadening on the door. The foil would have been brittle as well as could metal gets fragile also when freezing plus that stuff is so thin as you hammer or push a chisel through it, the foiled tears. But now anyone knows for future reference.
I would do a custom line for the rack. the rack is gonna move alittle when steering unless its a soild mount. If it moves enough you could crack the line. What about a tss cross member?
@Smeedia Beginning of the year I stripped all the sound deadening on a 97 wagon and the Goo Gone worked for getting the last bits perfectly clean without scraping the paint off with the wire brush. It was stronger before? Seems like its been about the same the 25 years I've used it off and on. It's no Aircraft stripper, but thats another storu lol. There are various brands to try too, but the big legit concentrated bottle from Amazon seems to do the trick.
@Smeedia I've never seen one installed or used before, they look incredible. Fabbing up a line isn't horrible, but for the cost it should function like state of the art equipment- appreciate you struggling for us haha 🤘
High end parts not fitting perfect is too common in the modern days on my FC I bought a hks exhaust and it hit my bumper every which way I fit it and don’t even get me started on the pbm coils not coming with turning pillow balls literally out the box I had to break them in cause they were so freaking tight but the 3dp vent I bought fits perfect like fr
@ the world we live in is a meme at this point that’s why if I find one guy that does something right I stick with it which so far that’s only panic and link ecu homie has literally troubleshot a short between the drivers seat and steering wheel a few times
I'm not researching that company's subframe, but is it advertised as not being compatible with stock components? I know you've had issues with buying parts and not reading the entire description before... nah but seriously the only way I'd accept that is if they had a disclaimer on what it works with, or doesn't. One instance of parts not fitting together that really ground my gears: So I have this super nice Stillen dual exhaust that has this fancy ass helix design into a single exit muffler. I bought a sweet Bell Raceworks rear diff brace. That diff brace will not fit with the Stillen exhaust no matter what, it's meant for either a stock style exhaust, a Tomei or ISR or whatever cheap catback the kids buy. So now I have this cool $150 paperweight.
You were having problems with that shifter rubbing. Did you ever check to make sure the front half that U-joint that's pinned to the transmission is not upside down? It's offset and should be installed with the offset down. It will rub on a GD if not installed correctly.
@ to clearance the transmission on the tunnel of the shell better of course lol and on the older stuff it helps the lower control arms and camber issues. That I see, it doesn’t sound like much but it helps front axle angle as well.
Love the videos ❤ question on the subframe, would it be in backwards? Not sure if thats even possible but maybe 180 around it will give it more clearance but maybe the mounts will be off then
I laughed at the level clip. Reminded me of working on a tool and getting in a debate over what is level. I’d say. You are level in relationship with the ground but not level in relationship with the engine bay. The car was probably not “level” on the lift. Good ol’ relativity
Hey Tanner! I have a 2024 WRX, and was wondering how good the ETS GESi high flow j pipe/downpipe is for tuning based off what you’ve heard if anything?
Hey man might be a weird question but any idea what could be the issue with my gc8? It’s a 1999 wrx and is pretty much bone stock besides an exhaust. It’s getting up there in kms, it’s sitting at about 245000ks (155000miles ish). Currently all that needs to be done is the timing belt and everything else is pretty healthy from what I can see. So the issue is my rpm’s drop and rise on idle, it’s not like drastic amount but it dips to about 700-800rpm which makes the car shake and feel like it’s trying to die back up to 900 where it idles pretty good. Had all vacuum lines replaced so I can be sure there no leaks but right now I’m kind of stumped. Any help is appreciated thanks in advanced for any information that could help.
You are running into the ires of aftermarket community. So many things are just close enough but then suddenly they aren't compatable with other aftermarket brands... Time to go full custom. 😂 This is hot rodding.
Pllllzzzzzzz make ouija hoodiessss and I wanna do a 22b build now to and might sell the sti. Last thing come through the Discord everyone misses you UwU
I wouldn’t call them a douche canoe. There’s a reason it was installed. Not everyone wants to drive around is a loud, resonant, tin can. That doesn’t make them bad people just because you wouldn’t have done it. That said, WD-40 will basically dissolve it and it’ll come right off.
This is why I can't stand aftermarket parts. I keep everything OEM unless absolutely necessary to avoid shit like the steering rack issue. Subaru probably put 100x the effort into designing and building the stock subframes than Mooresport has put into their entire product line. What a ridiculous product.
Please for the love of God stop calling it a 22b. It has neither a 2.2L or Bilstein suspension. It's also not a p25 or anything else, it is YOUR build. For someone as savvy as you are with Subarus, one would think you would recognize what it is and what it isn't. Why not just call it what it is, the GM6 dream build?
99 little dents on the hood, 99 little dents. You mark one down, sand it around, 103 little dents on the hood.
L&E fabrication makes the GC to GD steering column link. I remember that mine shipped pretty fast. It works well too.
Ordering one tonight, appreciate the recommendation 🫡
Yep, I have one for the 2015 rack that I have in my GC. I originally spliced two together to make one that worked.
I've used compressed air cans flipped upside down to freeze the sound deadening and WD40 dry lube spray to help wipe off residue.
Dynamat is no joke and good stuff. One of the best in the market. Technically it was made so never comes off.
Such a PIA to try and remove 😂
Dry Ice is a great way to remove sound deadening. Leaves behind NO sticky goo.
Store was out, idk how well it would work in the aluminum backed stuff 👀
@@Smeedia Looks like there can be a "reaction" but it relates to Dry Ice Blasting, but in the same breath it says blasting is safe and best for aluminum. Very confusing info to be honest.
@Weidjeep youre absolutely right. Wood workers use dry ice blasting to clean up live edges on slabs, because it's so gentle and has little clean up!
I just did mine with no dry ice and it came out pretty good! Just used a bit of googone and it cleaned right up.
WD-40 will dissolve it as well

I bet that stereo sounded pretty good with all the dynamat for a car of that era.
Debated, that speaker wire was pretty questionable 😂
I have some on my car and it didn't really help 🙃
Fixed my last vacuum leak today and finally got my AFR gauge working yesterday. Time to start doing some actual tuning on my rebuild!!
Eyyyyy fingers crossed tuning goes smoothly 🥳
Also steering rack - on the U joint you’ll need to trim past the bolt that clamps it on. Drill a new hole as there’s plenty of martial and add a bolt and nut.
Love the restore mate.
We have companies all over the UK doing this now as its the next thing to do on all classic cars.

19:04 you need 90 degrese fiting
That is a hell of a build brother- I was just on moor website looking at gc chassis braces, when I saw that subframe price I had to leave the website
Most of their stuff is really good, but if the parts do not fit well it’s incredibly difficult to justify the prices the have
@Smeedia I've never seen one installed or used before, they look incredible. Fabbing up a line isn't horrible, but for the cost it should function like state of the art equipment- appreciate you struggling for us haha 🤘
Should of got a darkmatterx shifter on that bad boy if they made one that fits!

Although TSS has different issues with the steering racks, you have to get an adapter that TSS doesnt make.

Sammmmmmme, I want to be mobbing with this thing!

Bolt by bolt she coming along
i had some of that sound deadening in my gc trunk when i bought it, ice did not work, had to use the wheel too
Car is looking good. Bummer deal with that rack. Probably just gonna have to sell the completed car to me 😂.
I run 1/2 inch solid spacers on all sub frame and trans cross member mounts for all gc swaps and older legacy stuff.
Out of curiosity, why?

Unfortunately it cannot be flipped. The engine mounts have to be facing forward on it 😅
Goo gone the citrus stuff works on the dynamat goo.

Yes🙌🏽

you make an lines for everything else why no the rack too. Also, Need a gd steering column.
I can but it was supposed to be a drop in set up 💀
