I used FSR as upscaling as in Alan Wake 2 it was a bit less stuttery so I used it for the other games as well. Will you consider switching to Linux if gaming was close in performance to Windows? Let me know in the comments below
Until anticheats doesn't support Linux many gamers wouldn't be able to fully switch to linux, sadly. I have dualboot, and when I starting PC I deciding if there is a chance I would play any of my long term played games, found myself using windows just in case, even if I haven't started any game while using pc..
Im already a nobara 40 gamer, with a 4070 ti super, so im taking the perfomance regression here. I heavily prefer linux as an operating system and i really wish that the opensource drivers were better for nvidia.
The only scenario were i need more fps with my 4070ti is Pathtracing and there Linux is slower. As long as we have 4k60, extra performance is not relevant to me. But i running w10 + cachyos + nobara . parallel. stability and game running at all is king , so i exclusively use release version of proton, no experimental, no GE/cachy. only 9.0.3 release.
@@casuallygamin9 Optimizing, well there are steps about optimizing Linux in the Internet. Oh and please use Arch Linux it is the most updated and the best for gaming.

It's so nice to see linux gaming come this far😊 75% + performance in all games compared to windows is pretty nice but I would still wait for 2-3 more years to completely remove windows from dual boot 😊 Thanks for this amazing video btw🥰
I know Nobara is good for Nvidia hardware, but keep in mind that this distro is built with gaming in mind, as it will preinstall steam, proton, proton-ge, lutris. I didn't use Zorin OS, so I can't tell which one is better.
Keep up the great work, not anytime soon i will see nvidia improve on this thoe, wayland too needs to improve to so, etc.. I hope so cause most gaming laptops still use nvidia.. as i am one laptop user xp.
it works on the 7900 XTX with no issue, someone said that there is a way to make it work, if you really need it, check the comment section. Until now, I haven't tried to be honest
So I gather that you are not using gaming-optimized settings on Windows 11? (HVCI, VBS and Platform TPM disabled). Those tweaks alone can boost non-GPU bound performance by up to 15% on Windows 11.
Well, like I showed in my previous video, I have VBS disabled. This is disabled by default with Windows 11 24h2. When it comes to TPM, I have it set to the default settings: Enable Firmware TPM
@@casuallygamin9 Thanks for the info, this is your first video I've seen, so I had no other context. Good thing that VBS is disabled by default now, but I believe Windows 11 still isolates processes through the Hypervisor by default, which does have a small impact on memory performance, which is important for games. I appreciate you taking time to answer my questions, and your video was very informative.
@@cpt.tombstone I just checked and it seems that hyper-v is turned off. I'm not sure that this is the case because I turned off the other 2 option that are available under core isolation section and are enabled by default. To be honest, with Windows, after each update, you need to doublecheck these settings, as Microsoft may decide to enable these by default.
Even if ProtonGE is faster, its not worth it because its unstable ❌. Hopefully now that Nvidia announced a roadmap for their linux drivers, they will optimize for games running under proton.
Would be nice to see comparison with CachyOS. For me on a same hardware, I get significantly better performance in Cachy in some games

Been saying that for years "linux is just a couple years away". Except it's not, and never will be.
Very nice video! At last, Linux can run a lot of games. It's a little slower than Windows, but runs very smoothly.
It runs smoother on AMD cards. The curent Nvidia drivers seem to be a bit buggy when anything else except Steam. But I do agree, linx is improving.

It's too bad you don't have an AMD video card as Nvidia drivers are far from perfect in Linux yet. Gaming on Linux with an AMD video card is awesome.
Check my previous video. It looks like you just skipped some section, as I mention that Linux works way better when paired with an AMD gpu.
you skipped this 14:31 :)
AMDs arent perfect either lol. Reason im still on windows.
is this an issue with DX12 games only? is the perf difference similar with older api like DX11?
I didn't try any dx11 games, so I wouldn't know. I presume that this is a driver issue, and it should be sorted out with newer drivers

Msi afterburner and GOverlay averages, 1%lows and 0.1%lows and this way will be easier to conpare to other reviews out there.
