    i loved Driftwood in the flesh. it was an honor to be on her deck, considering her story of her journeys to marne, shes looking better the older she gets . I adore the 1980s steel, they look so good. they look like a boat. you have driftwood looking great

    Great videos! I think I watched them all in one evening. We just got our first boat after years of cruising on hired boats. It’s a small sailboat but we will be on Lough Ree so hopefully one day we will have a chance to say hello in person. Keep up good work and don’t forget to upload more videos to help with January Blues!

    Enjoy the blog. Any videos with docking tips for new boaters?, always so nervous about docking next to other boats

    • @DriftwoodBoatBlog
      @DriftwoodBoatBlog  5 років тому +3

      Hi Kevin, thanks for you comment and glad you like the videos. I don't have any docking tips videos. I know exactly what you mean though. Just always pay attention to the wind and the current, decide which will affect the boat the most and try to face the boat into it. So that the wind or current acts as a break. Always go slowly as you can while still maintain steering. Oh and when you see an empty jetty with no one around spend some time practising. Nothing as hard as mooring up with an audience! Hope that's of some help and remember any mooring where no one is seriously injured or killed and the boat remains fit for purpose is a good mooring! H&M

    Thank you for sharing your experience, folks. Very helpful. Can I ask what kind of hull you would recommend for a first boat- to be used on lakes, rivers and canals, hopefully. Thank you.

    • @DriftwoodBoatBlog
      @DriftwoodBoatBlog  3 роки тому +1

      Hi David, I think the most important thing when buying your first boat it to get the best value you can. You probably won't keep your first boat for very long so 'well bought is half sold'. Hi and see loads of boats in your budget so you will know a good bargain when one comes up. Best of luck and hopefully we'll see you on the water soon 👍

      @@DriftwoodBoatBlog That's sound advice, thanks. I've heard cathedral Hulls are very steady in the water but some can be blown around if it gets windy. Don't know if you have any experience of those?

    • @DriftwoodBoatBlog
      @DriftwoodBoatBlog  3 роки тому +1

      I've no experience of them myself, but I hear they are quite stable. I wouldn't think there are too many on the River and choice may be a bit limited.👍

    how do you navigate you passage so accurately

    • @DriftwoodBoatBlog
      @DriftwoodBoatBlog  3 роки тому +1

      You can buy charts from Waterways Ireland, it's quite easy to navigate and the waterway is well marked.

    • @georgewalsh4698
