The thing that amazes me is these crews are that well organised no one is running about like a headless chicken or panicking. Everyone knows there job and get on with it effortlessly
Shame to see these old buildings go up in flames and destroyed. History lost forever. Better to utilize them and convert them to housing or community use.
I was talking to a nice Asian gentleman at the fire and he said he had 10 million pounds worth of stock in the warehouse. I think he might have been a bit of a fibber.
There was no rush, no immediate danger to life, no persons reported. best course of action to let it burn itself out. great kudos to the firefighters, plus they had to wait until the twats were out of the way and the traffic stopped,
West Yorkshire don't even have 50 front line appliances , due to budget cuts etc ........20 years ago , that might have been true , but certainly not when this was filmed
always saddened when i see this video. I spent many hours sat on the roof of this amazing building, watching the world go by. After it was left to rot it was fascinating to explore and photograph.
I find that metal security fencing annoying as it's supposed to keep people out, but doesn't stop twisted fire starters. It's a pity this textile mill wasn't a so called " fireproof" building. They had floors of metal girders with brick vaulting. I assume it had wooden floor beams and that's why the walls caved In when the beams burnt through.
It was obvious right from the start that there was no saving that building. It's pointless to waste resources and risk firefighters' safety when they don't have to. Better to prevent spread to other buildings which we could not see.
+Lee Taylor even when not inside, fire fighters are affected by the smoke and all the chemicals in it, with winds changing the direction quickly, Fire fighters can become enveloped by the smoke.....sometimes for long periods of time. Also, breathing in the heat itself can cause damage to lungs.
+Bobbi personally I don't think they're close enough as I've worked on balers etc close to the smoke as long as you know your limit and where it's safe etc I don't believe you need BA
Bentcypress7 firefighters do not wear oxygen. The breathing apparatus contains compressed air. This fire would have been too severe to enter the building even with BA. Ex Hampshre FB 15 yrs
Why deploy appliances and not use them. is the fire service in the pocket of the developer who wanted the site clear of existing buildings?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These fires are hopeless. Their insides is all real heavy timber like and the floors is like all saturated with oil. Not a good plan for a nice Sunday out with the little lady and them kids.
Is this a training burn down fire? I am so tempted to talk about over there how their stone and brick stuff burns or mortar cracks and having slow lazy firefighters and how thye don't have that deluge capability they call a water show here, when needed....but I won't LOL. ONe device they have is a spiked tip on a ladder that can pierce a roof and then put in a pattern like a sprinkler head. NOt a bad idea to get attic spaces. the dirty little secret, ...most fires will go out on their own if you wait long enough.
Such a shame to see buildings just set on fire for fun and destroyed by mindless fire raisers who have nothing better to do than destroy stuff. Absolute waste, this happened to an old 1930’s listed building that was a very busy business for years in my home town of Dundee the business was known as Robertson’s Furniture store and it closed its doors back in 2011 and the building was left abandoned and empty till Nov 2022, then kids managed to get inside the building and turned the whole 4 level building into a huge fire that burnt for almost 3 days solid, after the fire was eventually put out the only thing left was the shell of the building and it was declared as unsafe and had to be demolished .. kids just love to set fire to anything that doesn’t interest them, just for a bit of fun. Idiots

if you go to 8.28 theres a ghost at the top of the fire escape, you just get a glimpse, then it collapses at that point not long after

That's probably why it "caught fire"...
What caused the fire
it was an insurance job
@@shaunparkinson7121 always
I have not seen any hoses on it at all!

It's strange to see the green and purple wild plants gently swaying in the wind, oblivious to the relative tragedy nearby.
Them old timbers are impregnated with oil once these mills go there is no stopping them
At least the fire escape stairs stay up when it collapses at 9:08!
They put out 50 firetrucks I also lived in Thornton

Why bother putting water on it attitude. See that a lot in the UK.

Well who's a special boy then, you found the letter Z. Can you say Z?
I love it with the numbnut trying to count bouncing the ball whilst all others are watching, bless him..
I haven't seen any water, what you wish and it goes out????
After 30 minutes of negotiating with the fire, things went south and water had to be applied to the smoldering stonework.
Let it burn 🔥 that's what the developers asked for
I was there
Thank you for an excellent vidio
wow great vidéo
great catch it really starts cranking at 744 ish British FF appeared out of the deapth on this Just from what i can see
Bearwood Brown well just shows you are not and never will be a firefighter.

The timbers in the old mills are impregnated with oil so when thay go thay go
I never saw.....even when it was billowing black, not 1 fire fighter wearing oxygen. That wouldn't happen where I live. Safety 1st.
If they're not going into the building and are being defensive why would they need BA?

You should report them to OSHA otherwise they will continue to operate in this reckless manor.
