He told Otis to take his bags and leave him but Otis refused so he thought they were going to get eaten alive since he had injured his leg and Otis was out of breath. And Carl without the medicine would later die so he killed Otis to save Carl. Shane could give 2 shits about himself or Otis Carl was the objective and Rick said he would have killed Otis too for the same reasons. God you don't know shit
