- Usain Bolt is the greatest athlete of his generation, having won three Olympic gold medals back to back in the 100m and 200m track events. Shattering the world record in both, he is the worlds fastest man! No stranger to struggle and defeat, Usain shares his journey from growing up humbly in Trelawny, Jamaica, to dominating and conquering the world stage in athletics.
As my very good friend of over 10 years, he's open and candid, and shows sides to himself that most people don't usually get to see.

There's a story behind everything...
(long caption warning but it's rested on my ❤)
I had shot half the season of #OdysseyWithYendi #UntoldJourneys Season 2 and had to pause....
The day I shot this sit down with Usain Bolt, was the first I was getting back to work after a serious health scare. What you see here is pure gratitude to have life and purpose.
I was diagnosed with a heart condition a year ago and it's changed a lot for me. Only last month, I faced something that complicated that condition and brought my own mortality to the fore.
It was a lot to digest.
I was unwell for weeks, but did everything in my power to enable my body to fight. I'm still experiencing quite a lot of discomfort related to the condition, and pains throughout my body (and yes shifting a lot in my seat to alleviate same) but pushing forward is what we do, the best way we can.
I have always had a passion for what I do, and the fragility of life has never been lost on me, but let me tell you that I am working with a ZEAL like never before!!! My fervour is palpable!
When I sat with Stacey Hines on #BeautyInTheAshes she said "Don't Die With Music Left In You".....
On the heels of losing 2 family members within the past week...
BE KIND TO YOURSELF. BE KIND TO OTHERS. TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED. LIVE OUT LOUD. PURSUE YOUR PASSIONS. DO EVERYTHING THAT SETS YOUR SOUL ON FIRE. DON'T DIE WITH MUSIC LEFT IN YOU! PUT YOUR ALL INTO LIVING THE LIFE YOU WANT TO LIVE!! TELL PEOPLE YOU LOVE THEM. SHOW UP FOR YOURSELF. SHOW UP WHEN IT MATTERS MOST. DO EVERYTHING WITH LOVE!
LEAD WITH LOVE!!
Sending each and every one of you copious amounts of love and positive energy, as we navigate a very strange time in history.
This space is for positive change and inspiration. And I pray each of you are inspired by #OdysseyWithYendi.
❤
You make me proud to be a Jamaican the world love you bro
You are indeed a fighter Yendi , I remember you not feeling well on the digicel raising star stage
And now this I am only humble by your strength
The music you continue to sing and play will most definitely help others on their journey
Thank you for sharing ; you didn't have to but the God in you allow you to 🙇♀️you were really trying hard , not to be cool but to be you God Bless.
So sorry to hear about your health issues. Take care of yourself and trust God to take care of you too

What Usain has done for brand Jamaica cannot be expressed. In the UK he is huge, I teach Maths and even the text books on speed use him as reference, his image is iconic and we can never repay how he has helped our country to become even more renowned for phenomenal people!

As a Jamaican living in London, UK we are absolutely proud of Usain - he is definitely up there in the hall of fame for not just Jamaica but the world. Yendi is also a great media person with a stunning personality and down to earth attitude. A great interview and a great inspiration for anyone wanting to amount to the pinnacle of greatness amidst all challenges. Well done!!!!!!!

I hope more homegrown "celebrities" will give Yendi the opportunity to hone her craft (because she's good at it). I'm so proud to see our "Oprah" doing her thing. Big up Usain for showing her the same support you would any "foreign" talk show 🇯🇲💕

Indeed she's really good but she's not our oprah. She's our Yendi, she's good in her own IMAGE we try to compare ourselves too much.
@@ramonedacres3523 Agreed! I used the comparison just as a point of reference for Yendi's skills as an interviewer. I am perfectly happy with and proud of our Yendi 🇯🇲

I was thinking "Oprah" too. Yendi is great at this. Watching from Trinidad 🇹🇹
I used to work with a lot of Indians and while none of them knew Bob Marley, they all knew Usain Bolt.
This man is truly a walking legend.
Maybe they were not into reggae music and Bob Marley died a long time ago. Usain is current so our present world knows who he is.
I met this man from Australia when I told him I am from Jamaica he said oh that's when Usain bolt is from !
I live in the UK and have never met anyone who doesn't know Bob Marley. I have travelled the world and there isn't a country that I've been to that the people don't know Bob Marley. If you live in Jamaica and don't know Bob Marley then you are either deaf, dumb or blind.
Yendi, I love your non-traditional interview style. It’s engaging and you’re also able to get interviewees to be vulnerable enough to share in ways that I don’t see in other interviews. You are really good at this! 🙂
Totally agree. Very conversational and relaxed. Natural lighting, birds etc. Like two friends catching up and we get to look on. Love it.
Thank you!
Thanks!🙏🏽

Usain has grown up. Looks so mature. Daddy life 🙏🏾❤️

Enjoyed this interview. Usain always seems so real 👍🏼 I was encouraged by, 'You have to learn how to lose before you learn how to win' because when my first attempt at owning my own business failed after being so successful at my corporate job I felt very, very disappointed. I'm even more encouraged to keep pushing because there are so many lessons to learn. I also learned to do it gradually and part-time because Jamaica still needs my day job skills 👍🏼 Still have my tshirt with the gold medals put away only to be worn on special occasions 😁👍🏼

I agree with your point but you're confusing what the idiom means: "Dance a yard before you can dance abroad" means hone the necessities of your craft before trying to go public with it and that applies here too.
What you meant to say was "a man is never crowned king in his own country" which is also a Jamaican saying that was pulled from biblical scriptures.
