Generic name: Cephalexin.
Brand names: Keforal, Daxbia and Keflex.
Available as a tablet
How to use it?
Tablets: Swallow the tablet whole with half a glass of water. Don’t break it and don’t chew on it.
It is best to take it at an empty stomach and take it at fixed times.
Duration of treatment?
At least 10 days.
It is important that you do not interrupt the treatment and finish it completely.
When to use it?
Cephalexin is used for ”serious” infections caused by micro-organisms sensitive to Cephalexin.
What is the correct dosage?
Always use the dosage and frequency prescribed by your own doctor.
Generally the correct dosage is; 250-500 mg every 6 hours.
What are the side-effects?
Very common (more than 10%): diarrhea.
Uncommon (0.1-1%): stomach ache, dizziness, headache, fatigue, fever and a rash.
Safety:
It is safe to use Cephalexin with alcohol (in moderation), eat it with any type of food and drive your car while using this antibiotic.
However, cephalexin can have some interactions with other drugs and it can be dangerous for people with severe kidney or liver problems. Furthermore is also important you don’t use Cephalexin if you are hypersensitive to penicillins or carbapenems.
Pregnancy and Lactation:
The usage of Cephalexin while pregnant or while breastfeeding is safe. There is extensive medical experience which does not indicate any risks or problems, but always discuss this with your treating physician.

I don't have insurance and was trying everything to get rid of this severe sore throat and from the look of the white streaks on my tonsils and the lack of common cold symptoms, I figured this was a strep throat. I consulted a family member's doctor about cephalexin and he said it should work for strep too. I am glad you mentioned the throat here too.

Wish a medical professional can look at why Cephalexin (Keflex) controls eczema..i had severe chronic eczema and after two weeks for Cephalexin for another illness the eczema flare up has competely cleared
Did you need to take it again since this time?
@aurielcastro9903 no Dr's here in Australia will not prescribe cephalexin for Eczema but based on my experience it cleared up temporarily
My son is currently taking it and his eczema is completely gone. Thank you for the comment.

I had a UTI and I have to say I had massive diarrhea since Thursday on kflex. All of those side affects. I called PCP she told me stop. I also have to say two weeks ago I Covid and had antibodics too. I don’t know what happened.

Nice explanation, doctor prescribed me this after infection on my right feet tatoo it works slowly but swallow getting better was looking for side effects cuz I feel little tired and pee a lot but I’m listed this video make me feel more comfortable with this med I’m not used to take any pills only if I need it…. Do Drs give patients this during surgeries, they said I had an allergic reaction to this during my collarbone surgery.

It could be. This depends on the specific infection.
I did not undderstad, wha is the "reserved antibiotic for the specific cases"?(
Antibiotics like Penicillin, Amoxycillin, and other popular antibiotics are broad spectrum, that means can cure many bacterial illnesses.
While Reserved means it is not broad spectrum. It can cure only SPECIFIC illnesses like sore throat, UTI, and other mentioned diseases.
Are they good for animals bites.
How many times do you have to repeat to finish your prescription as instructed? I'm only 2.5 minutes in and you've already said it 20,000 times.
Can i switch from using cephalexin for 2 days (about 6 caps) to amoxicillin?
I was looking for the same answer... you can change the antibiotic after a month... I used this antibiotic and I had most of the side effects 😓

The Walmart pharmacy recommended I take the capsule with food.
Been down bed ridden for 4 days. Throat swollen, migraine. Chest cough, nassl pasgaes blocked with dark yellow phlegm. I even sneezed out what looked like a massive red clot. I found these from 2 years ago took 1, just took the second. Migraine is going, cough slowly clearing. Nose running, not blocked, throats not swollen after i had a long sleep. Body must have craved a little boost in defense. Cheers for the peace of mind.
I found mine that were two years old as well. I started then approximately 4 days ago to treat my sore throat and chest cold. I was worried about the expiration date but I feel better seeing other people going through something similar.

I used this for a uti infection, but I stopped using it because I started getting this really bad odor that was coming from my body and sweat. The antibiotics smelled like rotten eggs, is this normal? I had to discontinue to use it. I started feeling so depressed after just taking them for for days . It’s like the smell of sulfur but I can also smell it throughout my body. Do you know why this happens??
I had a similar situation happen regarding the feelings of depression. I took it for 3 days after to treat what I assume was a spider or insect bite, and I started to lose my appetite, feel anxious and panicked, and began to dissociate.
@@vendrineswtor3190 same here! I didn’t even want to be around people or even walk pass them. I still feel this way and I even told my doctor but they don’t know what to or even if know what I’m taking about. It’s like the smell of rotten haha coming out of my pores.

I have trouble swallowing pills/capsules, so I opened the capsule and poured the powder in a big scoop of apple sauce and ate it like that.

@@jenperez1140 None at all for me. I did eat the entire apple sauce cup with each pill. I used unsweetened apple sauce too just was I think there's too much sugar in the regular Motts lol. But yes fortunately

Curious; why is that blurry patient in the background, (looks like he's in a hospital bed) having his oxygen intake obstructed, when its the oxygen that makes the blood work, does the heavy lifting in any cellular function, especially healing infections and forming healthy cells (mandatory for things such as a small child's braincells during development) Or am I wrong? Why promote a healing medication, but use such imagery, of a patient in a hospital setting. Last I was in such a setting, every time, oxygen levels were assessed first thing in triage, monitored and prominent in the ensuing procedures or treatments.
I feel it delegitimizes medical community when such breaches in physiological need is promoted.... I remember the time when science, not pseudoscience, was taught
