Not all show-stoppers are the loud barn-burners. When Linda Eder sat center stage on a plain wooden chair and sang this song in Jekyll and Hyde on tour, none of us could move until she finished. Her talent is transcendent.
She is the greatest most underrated Broadway performer out there! That voice is spectacular. She always manages to give me chills.

This is one of those songs that touch the heart, and with Linda Eder singing it, WOW !! THIS is one of the songs that made Jekyll and Hyde a good Musical !!
When Linda. Was in high school in brainerd MN...she worked at her dad's restaurant, the Blue Goose I Garrison MN....I had a group then performing at the dance club there..... Linda would come out of the kitchen tosinga few songs with the group during breaks....needless to say everyone was blow away by that voice....and a voice that I'll never forget....I have 3 of Linda's cds and I listen often.
I recently stumbled upon this song and the wonderful performances of Linda Eder. Thank God for the vastness of UA-cam. Every time I hear her sing this song, I am truly blown away!!
Wish she'd had a better agent, she deserves to have been known better. Someone sure fell down on the job! Linda is absolutly one of the most wonderful singers!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful, too.
Beverley Carte I got to see her in JEKYLL & HYDE in NYC. Her name wasn’t one I knew. But when she sang that my backbone tingled!
I have been disappointed she hasn’t done more shows. She’s truly amazing.
I knew Linda Before Star Search. She never wanted the limelight of Stardom, and frankly I think she did a great job of walking the edge between sharing her talent and keeping her life.

@@jimjackson9719 Linda is the only singer with her level of caliber and name recognition who would give somebody from India like me a voice lesson. One of her voice students Allie asked if she could interview and Linda agreed and gave her 40 minutes of her time. So I completely agree; let's be grateful for the fact that our favourite singer is so down to earth and accessible and not floating above the stars.
Linda chose to stay under the radar. She loves her horses and quiet life. ❤

I wish they would put our her first album. The original Scarlet Pimpernel. This was the first time I hear this lady sing. I was hooked. It is almost presumptuous of me to say that her first album contains some of her finest work ever. If you can get this anywhere GET IT!

Brian Sullivan same. As with most songs she sings. Her voice is simply captivating!
Same here. I first heard this while at a cleaning job, of all places, and the place had a full-house speaker system. The song came on and I was overwhelmed with emotion. The melody is so beautiful and the lyrics grabbed my heart...and that magnificent voice nearly lifted me off the floor. I immediately ordered the CD and I continue to be deeply moved every time I listen. She has a phenomenal voice - the range is incredible and her mix of power (belt) and pianissimo is VERY rare. WOW!

She was actually Frank Wildhorn's wife for 6 years. She has a Norwegian father and an Austrian mother. She was born in Tucson, Arizona but she was raised in Brainerd in Minnesota. She finished 5th in the Miss Minnesota pageant in 1980. She competed in Star Search in 1988 and won ten times in a row and the final as well. She was the original Lucy Harris alongside Chuck Wagner in the world premiere of "Jekyll and Hyde" the Musical. She was also the first Lucy Harris alongside Robert Cuccioli on Broadway in 1997. Linda was the winner of the Theatre World award for her performance. She was also nominated for the Tonys (Best Actress in a Musical), but lost out to Bebe Neuwirth in "Chicago". I agree that she is a underrated star and deserves to have had more recognition that she got.

Your absolutely Angelic is truly a blessing from God. I'm a Professional Female Impersonator. I'm a Former Miss Gay America. I was doing my normal Sunday Show. However, before I performed this amazing song. The Show Director did my normal introduction. Then he informed our audience, that this song was a special dedicasion to my Boyfriend. Anyway, i spent 3 hours to do my makeup. If I do have to say so myself. I looked beautiful. After my performance, the Show Director stopped our Show. He gave the audience a glass of champagne. The light and Sound people programed and downloaded a special, light, sound, smoke and layzer affects. I got down on one knee ( Most
people would never realize how difficult and painful that is) and I asked this wonderful man, if he would give me the extrem honor to spend the rest of his like with me. He said yes. I gave him a beautiful diamond ring. Yes everyone was cheering and crying.

I came looking for Linda after I was listening to Lara. I guess my brain made the connection. Although, they have similar Streisand influenced styles too.
This is her song obviously but the screaming in the end is still not pleasant to the ear...one doesn't have to widen the mouth or increase volume to impart emotion...I wish she would carry the tone she uses at the beginning throughout the entire song and use her incredible acting ability to paint the scene and create the necessary dynamics..but oh well- her song, her interpretation
There was no screaming she is known as a all time great belter. She has incredible power in her voice. She is the queen of the cresendo.

Wonderful , better than anyone that's popular now , but she can't act. She has to show the song means something personal to her, she has to learn how to fake us out like Babs used to do.
