- This video is a complete guide on how to change the gear ratio in an early style R200 VLSD Differential out of a 1990-1996 Naturally Aspirated Nissan 300zx. This gear change in the Z32 was not the easiest task. There were a ton of issues we ran into but in the end we were able to my gear ratio. This can work for any differential gear ratio from a R200 differential. Down below are the part numbers used for this build.
(Disclaimer) the shim on the meatball spacer was unknown from a random kit we found in the shop along with the 8.8 oil slinger. Additional shims may be needed depending on how bad the gears are worn)

Thanks for this video guys.
Reassembling a diff with a Kazz centre for my son and found that the previous owner has mixed and matched parts in the boxes 😏
We've been trying to get carrier shims at the right price away from Nissan genuine.
The Dana 44 tip saved us.
Many thanks 👌👌
Great vid, pops helping out 👍, my son and I work on our cars together, it’s quality time
It's the best!
Greetings, I have seen this case, very good suggestions, but I need help before my differential breaks. Is it normal for the differential to be so hot after rolling, say, a 20 km stretch?
I'm planning on doing the same thing to my r200 differential I hope mine is easier because I'm putting the G37 r200 differential in the 300ZX I know I'm going to have to change the input shaft flange on the desk and the axles to
Hey z-bruhz, I'm looking for some help. I own a 94' 300zx and accidentally put too much pressure underneath one corner of my rear hatch glass. it caused it to slightly lift off the molding and off the car. Should I use a window sealant to glue it back on or does it work another way?
I haven't done any glass work yet but did it just pop out of the black molding?
@@ZBruhzchannel it seems he didn't need the advice 😂
Hi maybe on your daily Z, you do the opposite and install 3.56 differential gearing. For us guys trying to get better mpg’s Especially on the highway
“ apparently it’s pretty easy swap” the gearing from a early 90’s Infiniti q45. Same r200 differential just “different diff gears”
Omg.. i just bought a 4.90 out of a frontier. What have I got my self into
Check out my latest video, my 4.63 is fully functional and rips!
Do u ever plan on swapping your engine?
Yes when I can afford it haha
4.9? Wow that's crazy...I know it's a drift car but can you even get on the highway without redlining at 70? haha
You made this way harder than it needed to be. You put shims under the bearing race instead of that stack of 3 on your pinion. You should not need to source a bunch of stuff from ford's and toyotas. Maybe that pinion is not the right specs and you are rigging it to get it to work but you didn't say as much. Also there are torque specs for a reason.
