Stetson Open Road 6X Silverbelly 2.5 Year Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 кві 2023
- Stetson Open Road 6X in Silverbelly. The 6X is a western felt, not a soft fedora felt like the Royal Deluxe. I wore this from July 2020, and it is now April 2023 at the time of this video. I have worn this an average of 2 times per week and brushed it as needed (every 1-3 months). My size: 59cm / 7 3/8" / 23 1/8" / "Large". Size true or up one size (can always make it smaller with sizing strips in the sweat band). You can purchase this or hats like it on JJ Hat Center, Stetson website, Boot Barn Website, or Stag Provisions (link below).

That's a great outfit for that hat. It's perfect for spring or fall and probably winter time. That hat makes you look honest and very manly . A stetson makes any men or women look down to earth, no bull, just commonsense .
Thanks! And yeah, you’ve described quite well how a Stetson looks, the vibe it puts off.
Iv been a stetson all my life i have most of my stetsons on 30x iv been thinking about the 100x , my first was a 6x , stetson is the king of cowboy hats
You have a perfect face shape for that hat model. In my case, I'm round face, and I look better on bigger hats ,I wish I could wear that open road shape but not everyone are so lucky.
Thanks! Yeah, I’m still learning about face shapes etc and how it relates to hats. With this one I just sorta lucked out. All is knew was, I wanted to get into nice hats and everyone said the Strat and OR were great starter hats from Stetson.
I like your perspective on signature piece. Whenever I want to go out for a cigar get a little dressy I find myself always going to my Stratoliner. It’s kind of what is holding me back from getting the open road because I enjoy just having that hat as a go too.
I think your Open Road looks awesome on you, your other video I watched many times and it inspired me to get a Straw Open Road. Very happy with it. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks! So glad it helped! Sounds like you got a great hat too.
I have one in grey and I love it !
I just picked up a silverbelly stratoliner. My dad's trademark was an open road which is why I hesitate but they are cool hats. I like your style and really like the brown leather perfecto jacket.
Thanks! And yeah, the strat is really cool, I think you'll enjoy it! That's cool that your dad wore an open road all the time.
It looks great! For the stains, I recommend getting a western felt stain remover, I feel like it’s basically necessary for any light colored western felt hat. It’s one of those things that I feel like you should do every so often when you wear a hat regularly. I wear a 4X wool Stetson everyday, and I usually brush it with a horse hair brush once a week and maybe use the stain remover once a month just to keep it looking fresh. Love the hat though! I’m looking to eventually upgrade to a 6X myself here soon, maybe one of those older carson 6Xs with the cattleman crown
Thanks for the advice on stain remover. I don’t mind this hat being worn looking, but I’d like it to last, so diminishing the stains would be great. I’ll look into this. Much appreciated 🙏🏽
I just picked up one of these great hat, also have a straw Stratoliner and a old Stetson cowboy i picked up in the 70s. Stetsons are iconic only brand I buy.
You have some nice hats! And yes, Stetson rocks. I’m so happy with mine. There’s nicer boutique hat companies, but there’s only one original. That’s all I need for now.
I'm a stetson hat Freak, I have 15 stetson hats, and each time I buy a new one my wife tells me if I ger one more she'll walk away but so far she's still here, my grandpa and my father and my son and grandson all have stetson cowboy hats ,my number one hat is the el patron 30 x ,I have 7 el patrons , my next one would be the el amo and el presente when available
Your hats seem amazing!! It would be cool to get a 30x someday. Super luxurious
I collect vintage Stetson hats and have quite a few. The one in this video is from around the 1980s. The finest Stetsons are then ones made before 1960. They are identified by having a round rather than rectangular size tag. The older Stetsons have superior felt and sweatbands that will last for generations.
Everyone says the old stuff is better, that may be true but I own several new Stetsons and they are wonderful.
I own the natural color and love it.
That looks great. I just got a brown stratoliner. But I see more in my future and the open road in this lighter color looks really versatile. Nice!
Nice! Looks like we're headed in opposite directions haha! I think my next one will be a brown Stratoliner.
Really appreciate the update. The shape looks unchanged from your initial review video. I’m doing research right looking a straw hat for the summer. I’m unsure about the straw Panama fedora. Fedoras have gotten a bad rep over the years, I can’t lie I’m a fan of the fedora. Later.
Yeah, I’m not sure about fedoras either 😄
This is a truly great hat. As you said, a signature piece. It’s simply perfection. The contrast is nice and the stains are character. I think if you had gotten something in brown first, you would be looking at the silverbelly now. The brown doesn’t go well with black. Silverbelly or natural goes well with either. If you only have one hat, it either can’t be brown or you’ll have to live with mixing brown and black which I truly think is acceptable but takes more work.
Thanks, and always good to hear from you, man! Hope that Stratoliner is runnin strong haha...Wow, really good points. Totally hadn't thought of any of that (probably cuz I haven't tried it), but if I got a second hat, I would probably be even more thankful for the versatility of this one.
@@thevintagefuture6567 I don’t get to wear my stratoliner enough. I wear a scrub cap everyday, but I’m considering just changing once I get to work now so I can get more wear on it. I change jackets at work already, Mr Rogers style. My other problem was that the brown I like is only offered in pure beaver which is more expensive. Anyway, I’m sure I’ll get something in natural or silverbelly in the future. With two options, I tell myself I’ll have everything covered, but in the back of my mind I know I’ll want something else eventually, too. 😄
Love your style man
Thank you so much!!
It's a perfect color, Dave. Luv it!
Great to hear from you, George!
@@thevintagefuture6567 Hope U and family had a good Easter!
@@georgecarlin2879 Thanks, George! We're great! Easter was good - hope yours was as well! We just got a retriever/lab puppy, so that's fun having a dog in the family now haha
@@thevintagefuture6567 That's awesome!
So what about rain or snow? I inherited my dad's OR silver belly but unfortunately it could not be stretched to fit. But the reason it lasted was he had like a fitted shower cap for it. I wouldn't want that.
I wore mine in light rain briefly a couple times. But you’re not supposed to do that much as far as I understand. It won’t immediately destroy it, but it just makes the hat sloppy and it degrades faster.
Beautiful patina
They don't stand behind their product. Their hat (The one I bought) says Water Repellent. But after a small drizzle, it lost its shape. I contacted them, thinking I am dealing with a reputable company. Their reply was: Go to a dealer and pay to have your hat reshaped. Cover it with plastic next time!!! Why say it is water repellent if it's BS? Don't buy - don't support - shame on them for misleading and on us for buying from a disreputable company
Water repellent is different than water proof plus it's a 6x that's what you'll get from a 6x is you want it to hold up get a higher X hat 30x and up will power through its like buying a V6 mustang yeah it's a mustang but you're not getting the Substance of a V8.
@@nathanroark3339 I have no idea what 6x is! Water repellent means exactly what it says: It repels water. I didn't go swimming with it. A little drizzle and it's useless. Why put water repellent if it is not so! It's false marketing. but worse, company didn't stand behind their product. Their advice was an insult!
@fogersoli1953 6x means the type of fur felt its made of and how tightly packed and hoe it will hold up, if I am correct I believe 30x and higher are 100% beaver which if you know beavers their coats are pretty tough against water where as 10x to 6x are rabbit and beaver blend, and 5 x are sheep's wool. So you're are buying a hat that is an entry level hat therefore it will be as reliable as anything that would be entry level. All I'm saying is before you complain about a product know what you're getting into, and as for the company backing its product, they do when the hat is properly used , you bought a 6x hat and it stood up about as good as a 6x hat would do.
You're stylin bro
hahaha thanks!
Avoid cleaners…they build up and attract dirt. A brush and Sandpaper!!! Here and there. Mine is pristine after 50 good years. That’s right.
Hi can i ask you the model of the leather jacket at 2:06? Thank you
Hey! It’s a Kenai jacket made by Freenote Cloth.
What's your size?
It’s all in the video description 👍🏽
So what you’re saying is that a customer who buys a hat that says WATER REPELLENT needs to know all this science or product development? Are you for real? Do you know all the technology that goes into your Swiss watch that says water resistant to 200’. Common, let’s stop with this nonsense. A product was marketed with false label. And the company who did it refused to do the basic most elementary thing that would have saved its reputation, and maybe its arse. 😮
I believe you were trying to respond to one of the other commenters entries? Anyhow, you make a good point 👍🏽
👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿
