The electric blue is a bit much for me to pull off, and the navy is dark enough that I'd actually prefer black. The new one though, really hits a sweet spot for me.

Is the pure open road worth the extra money?? Ive debated between the royal deluxe and the 6x open road, I thought I'd prefer the royal but this weekend found one of each in my size, got to try, like the 6x a lot better and now Iam thinking about just pulling the trigger on the pure open road. Worth the 475 on the sterson site??
On the strat' fold the sweatband out and pull on the liner until it releases, pull up in the hat, its held in with a lil glue. Don't take it out just leave it in loose like that then fold the band back in and put the hat on. This should relax the liner in the hat.
Beautiful hats, I'm a hat freak I have 17 stetsons but I'm in the process of getting my first open road , the pure open road is it more Beaver Fur?? I know the regular one is 6x , I have 30 x and 100x in all colors El patron 30x it feels like the 100 x El presidente but there $400 dollars difference, thank you for your time.

You can re-block the wobbly hat to give a bit more spage height-wise in the crown (Kevin from J.J. hats demonstrated how to in one of his recent-ish videos, but I am not sure which one). Having said that, this new one is absolutely my favourite from the ones in this video!
I was going to say the same thing. But you don’t really even need to re-block the hat (which mean steaming and stretching back over a block to get back round , then re creasing) you just need to steam it and open up the dome of the teardrop so it sits down on your head a little more. Kevin talks about this too. Love these videos though! Thanks for your work.

The regular Strat; including the “Pure” one with beaver, are 4.5” tall, but the Premier is 5.5”, I have the Premier (rabbit hair) but it fits soooo nice, it actually fits secure, but none other works, open road, gun club, they are all too shallow.
These hats are just for fun; I had an actual vintage hat box made for a Stetson my father purchased in "48" Eventually my father passed away but we kept the box and hat for another 30 years! My hipster nephew found it in the garage and claimed for his own. My father's box went to pieces much to my regret and had to be discarded. Those cardboard boxes should serve you long after you've moved into the retirement home.

you probably have some of the hats loose because you have a round head and you're trying on oval shaped hats. I have the same problem, there are these special tapes that you can buy to fix that. It goes behind the sweatband either on it or on the side of the hat.
Lol, as an advid hat lover, in hindsight I don't know why I didn't tell you, you can steam the hat to loosen the felt and mold it to your head circumference

I like the caribou but unfortunately that isn’t an option in the True Stratoliner. I wonder is the blue hard to coordinate. My gray hat went with everything. Sadly it was stolen recently.
i have the same extact problem with the pure beavers, i got one in the white and everysingle time i go out it falls out my head, only hat thats ever done that, still havent fixed it so i dont wear it often i might try leaving it in the sun for the band to shrink a tad for a tighter fit

Depends on the season: I have a straw Goorin Bros hat in a dusty rose. I wear that one all Summer. Then it would be a tie between the tobacco and silver belly for cooler months.
I wear an Open Road in Silverbelly and really like that design. I'm not much on "non-traditional colored" hats, like burgundy, blue, funky green (sage is fine), and so on. I like the white, tan, chocolate and gray. I'm a fuddy-dud, what can I say. BUT... THAT is a beautiful blue Open Road!!! I'd be proud to wear that lid! I even like your navy hat. The cattleman's crown makes a lot of difference, but the hat from J&J is a no-go. Wrong color blue and wrong shape. It looks like a classless pimp's hat. 😂
You probably should go by JJ hat center let them steam the hat for you and make it more of a long oval or steam it and then put it on your head and let it conform to your head better just an FYI the liner will come out without having to cut a hole in it just lift up the sweatband and you can pull it out The liner is just glued in
CJ, I’m trying to buy my first Stetson. Probably an Open Road. I learned about the Pure editions that are 100% Beaver for a lot more money compared to the Deluxe. You have two Pures. What so you think? Are they worth the extra price?
I like the fit of the Stetson Pure Open Road more than the Stratoliner. If you could get a Stetson Premier open crown. Those are nice (soft felt) and much cheaper then you could do a custom crown.

I couldn't be more pleased. I was concerned with the middle crease like the one in your video. The one I received is shaped like my older Royal Stetson Fedora (bought in 2008) I wear mine like the old skool gangster style, tail up, front down. This is one happy man. She gave me a new plastic reuseable bag so I could set my hat in when we're out in a restaurant. I can't have it getting dirty. I'm sure someone out there makes something I can put it in, while I'm dining, if not I'll have her make me a nice silky bag. Some restaurants have hooks on the wall or a shared coat rack near the table as well. I once went out to dinner with the Ol' Lady and when we walked the in the host asked, "Can I take your coats?" I replied, "You can take my hat." My Ol' Lady laughed cause she thought it was silly but that is how things use to be.

Hey man, thanks for the videos. It's interesting to see your shared interests from red wings to now stetsons hats. My opinion is that you are wearing the open road incorrectly, and it looks like it's not your size. The hat is not supposed to compress your skull and the crown is supposed to fall on the top of your head allowing just a finger over your ears. Also, western hats are a lifestyle that serve a purpose and not to match outfits colors. Bad advice to say they need to match belt, boots etc.. I also don't think you got a box this time bc Stetson watched your previous vid, sometimes they ship hats without the hat box specially if you purchased from an authorized dealer (they hang the hats for display and discard boxes). Price dictates the box - El Presidnte hat comes with a plastic case that retails for $80. Sorry man but you've gotta a little more experience to learn when it comes to western hats. But if you like hats that don't fit your head.... we all have our preferences. Cheers.

The White Hatband looks nice against the dark Blue. The One from JJ's is a Velor True Blue and is a nicer Hat then the other Hats.

U can buy foam hat spacers or get a roll of vinyl foam self-stick weatherseal cut to size place underneath sweatband

You need to get some hat spacers that fit under the sweat band. It will fix that issue.

You could steam it out and reshape. It will take work but it its possible.

If you put the hat down with the crown up (or brim down)....all the luck will run out of the hat.
Only if you believe in luck
you do know you can pad the sweatband a little bit to tighten it. and if it’s a small increment all the way around it’s less likely to buckle.
