I'm not a Panthers fan, but they deserve all the accolades for what they have just done. To win 1 or 2 is hard enough in any era but to win 4 in this salary cap era, bloody unbelievable, so well done, Penrith.
For us Panthers fans in PNG, we needed this win more than the storms to square the ledger. What a sweet revenge. Let Storms feel the pain we felt in 2020. After all, Storms played very well.
This is Gordon Tallis as I've never seen him in the media. None of the combative, anti Penrith, anti anything NSW that we see on 360 which I often turn off from watching because of him. Lets see more of it Gordon. So many great performances from Penrith. There were no bad players for them. As a GF debutant Alamoti was awesome. Martin, Yeo, Cleary, Turuva, To'o....... all awesome. I've followed Penrith since the early 80's and have stayed strong through many hard times. What a time to be a Panthers fan!!!!!!
The Bye Round Team, Best poddy of the season! I’m with the dribblers on this one-it’s wild to hear Gordy giving the Panthers some love. Gotta commend Cheese for speaking the truth, too. I really enjoyed your take leading up to the grand final. You mentioned several times that the Panthers were the better team in their second loss to the Storm, and I think that’s spot on. I wonder if part of the reason the Panthers outclass most teams is because every year, during the regular season, every team treats them as their grand final. It’s similar to how it was with the Patriots over here in the States. It forces the Panthers to play better, be fitter, and constantly believe they can win. Next year will be interesting with Ivan retooling things. We can bet they'll still be a top defensive side. Even if they just make it to the finals next year, that would be a statement about Ivan’s brilliant coaching. Defense wins championships. Shout out from Texas!
Im a QLD die hard - I think liam martin is a grub come origin time, - but you can not deny how much grit he has and how great he is. He embodies wearing your heart on your sleave.
Correct. I thought it was the ball from pictures last night but after seeing the other angle this morning and then going back to the original picture, it’s obvious his arm looked like the ball. Bunker got it right thankfully.
When they are talking about the "white part of the ball" making contact with the ground, the Hi-Res video shows clearly its Howarth's arm. Proving conclusively it was NO try...
They could have easily given it to Cleary when you look at his game stats which in an arm wrestle, he was the difference IMO. And as he was playing injured, only highlights the point how well could he have played if he had been 100% fit and by how much further the Panthers would have won by.
Thanks Jimmy, great year on the poddy. Some nice analysis from Gordie and poor old Cheese is still a storm at heart, GL with the recovery Cheese. Go the Mighty Panthers!!!!!
Penrith play percentage football. They don't often put on huge points against teams but their defence is like 2 converted tries. It's not champagne football but it works because of their disciplined approach.
@davidduffin1580 I certainly do and also remember Penrith giving Manly some good hidings, too. Penrith deserve the status of one of the greatest teams ever to play, and their success was from the grass roots. Mmmm, unlike the silver tails raiding Western Suburb Magpie greats, lol
If you look at the social media picture you can see the tip of the ball, therefore it can't have been the ball touching the ground because the ball was facing the other way
The reaction of the Panthers players who could see the reverse angle of the shot was obvious the Storm player did not score. You dont get that illuminated when you are fair dinkum knowing you kept the ball up, because the replay would put you in a dumb light if you're wrong. That is why the Panthers celebrated the saved try.
Was funny watching the Storm cheats waiting for the ref bias out of habit to give them piggy backs out of their own end 😂 Threw their arms up crying every tackle 😂

It doesn’t matter that the Panthers lost to the Storm twice during the year, a GF is way different than a regular season game AND this Panthers team haven’t lost a finals game since the 2020 GF
Why are you talking about the no try? It was clear as day last night before this podcast would have been recorded. It was clear as day, in 4K it's no try. His arm is under it. It's obvious, the Bunker got it 100% right. Would you have preferred Panthers to lose the game on a No try call because you thought it was good live? Should have nipped it in the bud and said we thought it was a try but when the NRL released the footage it was a clear no try. End of discussion.
Atleast Thurston at the end of the game agreed it was a no try. Gallen asked cam smith if he saw the ball touch the ground a couple of times, surprisingly he didn’t say yes.
Big fan of the podcast, thanks for the awesome content to help me through those work-from-home days! I have a question to run 'bye' you: Do you think it's a good idea for the NRL to introduce a patch of some sort on the NRL jerseys to commemorate being the current premiers? Being a massive football fan as well, jerseys will display a cup or flag on their jerseys to signify being the previous season champs, and I think this is a concept which the NRL could adapt as well and fans would absolutely love having that on the jersey of the team they support? How good would it be for fans to buy the jersey which clearly shows their team are current champs?! Being a chooks supporter, this definitely isn't just in light of everything Penrith has achieved - I think the fans would eat that up and it also acts to remind everyone of who the current champs are. Keen to hear your thoughts on this, keep up the good work and great content. Cheers!
Time and again, in attack or defense, there were pink jerseys everywhere. They admitted after the game that they were out on their feet (as were Melbourne) but that defense was just outstanding and Penrith forced the Storm to make errors they just wouldn't make against other teams.
No try all day. Even in the one frame that looks like ball on grass, if you rewind the footage a few frames, you can see its his arm that ends up under the ball.
Storm fan here, Storm did not deserve to win. It was said all week they would have to be at there best and alot of them weren't. NAS was also a big miss not that I believe him playing would of changed the result. To beat penrith on the big stage you have to be at your best. Melbourne for me 7/10 very poor on attack
Crap re Nelson. Are speed this was played Nelson would have been gassed early and Penrith would have found him out. Brandon gets this. Nelson is full of errors especially when tired.
Victoria has to start its own 2nd grade to recruit Victorian players. In that way, their pathways can match Penrith's, and maybe they might find a victorian country kid like Liam Martin and Dylan Edwards.
Newer fan of the game just watching Rugby as in general for last 25 year's and League since 1999 my question is simple if opposition players stay in defensive line is that not obstruction.... every second attacking set in the 10-20 meters by the Panthers during the last two seasons/at least the games I watched/ they do this Martin and center of his side are in defense line ,same for both props when the attack is in the center. The other two teams who are doing this on regular bases are the Cowboys and the Roosters . Not to mention that both teams during this finals deserved players send to the bin for slowing down the game in the ruck and obviously striping the ball when tackle the opposition players or at least trying.
A lot of teams do it now. As long as you aren’t impeding the defence it is ok. My biggest beef is does anyone notice how many line ball/ forward passes harry grant throws.
What really annoys me is that the refs and bunker should of been commended for this decision as they clearly gotta itt right. The is absolutely no evidence where you see that ball touch the grass. People are assuming that part of the ball that can't be seen was touching the grass even myself thought that. But the fact is you cannot see that I any video anywhere. All you can see is an arm clearly under the ball.... Please reply with a screenshot of where the ball touches the actual grass ???? No one can because such a image does NOT exist.
Again- the no try. You guys just supported the ruling while not??!! Listen to what the number said. They did have the tech to get closer and it showed that what you thought was the ball on ground was an arm under as well as hands- because they DID have the camera and angle to show this. Sigh.
Not sure why everyone saying Storm had the best spine. Cleary is the best halfback, Luai is equal to Munster, Yeo is the bst lock, Dylan better than Pap, Grant is the best hooker but Kenny is a tackling machine which takes a load off others. Storm have a great spine and keeping everyone puts them in pole position 2025, just not the best in 2024.
Panthers always trust there inside man when the opposition does their set plays for the wingers no one else in the comp does that and I don’t understand why
Seems like these guys still dont understand that penrith are superior to melbourne. Still talking about "shoulda coulda woulda" mate penrith have doninated melbourne for 4 years straight. Last year we beat them 38-4 in the finals. It wasnt a coincedence that melbournes spine was so quiet in the grand final. Penrith starved them off posession, filed position and made them work. Its the same thing they've done for 4 years. Penrith were never the underdogs i knew this was coming. You might beat penrith in a regular seaaon game, but in the finals they are a different beast. You have to be near perfect and willing to work as hard as they do on the day. Ps. Melbourne does not have a superior spine 7 - Nathan Cleary 6 - Jerome Luai 1 - Dylan Edwards 9 - Mitch Kenny I would add Isaiah Yeo to that list too Check the resume, they are the most elite spine in the comp and are the current in form players.
I think Melbourne did not play how they played all season to get the minor premiership. They tried too much to match Penrith at Penriths game. Did J. Hughes run the ball once??
When MArtin caught the high ball he had the line begging for a certain 6 points - instead they shifted to the edge and only just scored in the far corner resulting in 4 points instead of 6 - could have been costly. Penrith also had 2 or 3 more occasions like that - but it did kept the game nervy... If the ball looks like it touched a bladed of grass, is that considered downward pressure? Fair point though, could have gone either way.
Put that in writing ' Gordie tipped the Panthers for 2025 and many will agree . Panthers have the recipe for success. They lose some key ingredients this year but they will replace them from the club's depth that are bred from winning DNA
Melbourne's second half performance was weak. In the last ten minutes they weren't playing like a team running points behind. Jahrome Hughes was pedestrian all game. Only Harry Grant, Xavier Coates, and Jack Howarth seemed intent to win.
Munster has always been a whinging, whining, disrespectful person. Harry Grant complains all game as well. Cameron Smith, slater, all the same. Craig Bellamy doesn't believe in fair play. Melbourne bought in wrestling with the chicken wing and control the neck. That ain't sportsmanship. Our game doesn't need or want people like that. The more Melbourne are under pressure the more they complain, whing and carry on. Those are the facts. That's how Craig Bellamy coaches his team. Again those are the facts. More people need to call it out.
I have been watching and playing rugby league since I can remember, I have been saying for a while the NRL is scripted and they will make whatever team win if it will make more money.
Grants aussie rules hand-ball pass try celebration has got to go! Its insulting to any true league fan. Its as bad as waving a fijian flag after playing for Australia.. No respect!!!
Honestly, they're an overrated team that are just good at manipulating the games' inconsistent rules and refs. Wouldn't be surprised if half their vid sessions are watching refs and what calls these refs get wrong so they dont do it in the game. Nrl needs to redefine some of these rules so every ref is on the same page and so they dont have their own weird interpretations on rules.
The Storm should have given Cleary an AFL style sling tackle where you grab the player so they can't move their arms and you slam them into the ground, Cleary's head or left shoulder would have been ideal.
Yep sling shot and rag doll. They didn't test him, Melbourne were scared 😁 Clearly played it well. Looked after his body. The Panthers were ruled the day. Congratulations of four fifths of the pie🎉

Melbourne's second half performance was weak. In the last ten minutes they weren't playing like a team running points behind. Jahrome Hughes was pedestrian all game. Only Harry Grant, Xavier Coates, and Jack Howarth seemed intent to win.
Munster over-called all game when Hughes and Katoa had an advantage on their edge. He did it against the Sharks too but it paid off for him that time
It was the loss Melbourne needed to have......
Go Panthers....
Go Tigers...
Luai big loss man
IMO, Talaki will improve the attack.
Munster is the most overrated player in the NRL. Did nothing but complain about everything last night.
Agreed. And biting another player ?!! How unprofessional can one get!!
Most overrated player.....touch and go between him and Reece Walsh
Munster has always been a whinging, whining, disrespectful person. Harry Grant complains all game as well.
Cameron Smith, slater, all the same.
Craig Bellamy doesn't believe in fair play. Melbourne bought in wrestling with the chicken wing and control the neck. That ain't sportsmanship.
Our game doesn't need or want people like that. The more Melbourne are under pressure the more they complain, whing and carry on. Those are the facts.
That's how Craig Bellamy coaches his team. Again those are the facts.
More people need to call it out.
Munsters complete downfall starts now.
Can't blame him though he was just abit hungry
The pictures you guys were seeing were fake edits ,
It's crazy that you guys still think an arm is grass 😂
Stop giving tallis a microphone
Have you got enough tissues?

The Storm should have given Cleary an AFL style sling tackle where you grab the player so they can't move their arms and you slam them into the ground, Cleary's head or left shoulder would have been ideal.
Nah man that ain't it
Yep sling shot and rag doll. They didn't test him, Melbourne were scared 😁
Clearly played it well. Looked after his body.
The Panthers were ruled the day.
Congratulations of four fifths of the pie🎉
Rugby league is broken. It's not something to be celebrated.
just shut up and appreciate greatness
What are you doing on a rugby league site then? Go back to the ballet
Api K must be regretting his decision now😅
Yeah it must be tough earning more money at the Tigers. Poor fella.
