I like Arlene. Such a cool, quiet, gentle vibe from her. She's not here for any "song and dance entertainment"; she's here to show everyone how to cook. I like her as a co-host as Kezzianne doesn't have to drink a pot of coffee to try to keep up with her counterpart.
Good morning ladies I just want to say I don't know if anyone told u all this but I love how ur finger nails are nice and short and clean I look at these things because nails carries a lot of bacteria awesome ladies keep it up I see some ladies hv fancy nails and that turn me off forgive me if I offended anyone hv a great day
I found this confusing as well. But I realised that the Promasa "cornmeal" that us Trinis normally use (the one in the orange-ish bag) is actually a corn flour. I think we mistakingly call corn flours, corn meal and I think thats what happened here. So yes, make sure on the bag it says corn flour.
Kind of. We Trinis 🇹🇹 make the blue draws too but we call it paime. The cornmeal for patelles isn't meant to be sweet, though, most meat filling will have some raisins which creates a sweet and savoury effect.

Hi hi Foodies folk. Kindly tell me how many pounds of minced meat, and corn meal should I use to produce 5oo plus pastelles? Thank you.
I've made it today and it was the best recipe I've tried thanks for sharing 👍 ☺ 🙂
Did you use this amount of butter. Like 3/4 of one butter?

Wow very nice and good job 👍
So I can cut my fig leaves to appropriate size, freeze and when ready to use, just thaw and they'll be pliable enough to use ?
Same thing I'm wondering.
Yes dear
If you cook all and freeze you can steam it to hot up and it will be fresh
Looks good aunty Arlene..... it's Kait
Perfect ratio of meat to cornmeal👌👌
Wow you made this look really easy. It’s different from what I know but I’m willing to try this recipe this year 👍 😃
I don't need to heat the leaves?
How can you get the leaf up north
I wish there was a measurement for the cornmeal dough.
i believe it is one and a half cups of meal and the same amt of hot water with the butter
Excellent
Looks good thanks for sharing
Very nice 👍🏾
Isn't it supposed to be Corn flour?... i was taught corn meal would be to heavy.and break apart..... but thats just my opinion
I saw a lentil pastelle yesterday
Love you girls ! ❤❤
And pastels are delicious..
I see you use corn meal?
And not corn flour?
So is it one or the other..help..
Was wondering the same thing.

Can you use olive 🫒 oil instead of butter thank you foodie nation
You may but butter/margarine adds a richness that cannot be found in olive oil. Makes the cornmeal dough smooth and silky.
Is cooking ... boiling .... food wrapped in tin foil recommended in as far as having health concerns?
I luv Arlene just as much as she luv fine thyme lol
Is there a reason why you didn't put salt in the cornmeal?
I like to season my cornmeal, too. A little salt, a little sweet, some parsley for garnish...my own flair.
this is like bluedraws with chicken?

@@OAS225 Thanks
Nice going to try it but with ground beef-:)👍❤️
Good recipe.
Hello G friend very nice how could I order some pastelle from you all
I am now a pastel maker. Now on to sponge cake.
delicious but soo much work.
I would like to see how to make a xmas rum log, can you make it, please and thank you .
I like to put a bit of oregano and paprika in the dough
Why didn't you add Worcestershire sauce instead of bitters to the filling.
Nice tip!
Listen i am so here for Arlene's recipe.
Looking forward to fish Pastelles
Where is the recipe
Arlene is so gentle. Great recipe. Look easy, but pastelles a lot of work.
I feel like a suitable amount is like 40 per person.
❤❤❤
It's a Tortilla Press made from cast iron; press the lever with so me strength woman.
It's not that fragile!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
❤️
Can Arlene show us how to make a Chicken ham from scratch instead of having to buy those birds the companies selling
You're supposed to heat up the banana leaf first, just sayin.
And wipe the leaf lol
She said she washed them before and freezed them. She also said you can "singe" the leaves to make them soft and supple.
Bbq sauce in pastelles😮😮, that's a first for me 😢😢😢
Gives a smokey undertone and deep flavour.
Hi
