Anthurium mettalicum Review | 2.5 Yrs Later | Is it A. mettalicum? or is it A. magnificum?🌱

Good news and bad news! I bought my A. metallicum more than ten years ago at our local orchid show and sale. Ecuagenera had lots of orchids and only a few aroids way off in a corner. At the end of the show we were helping Ivan and his crew to pack up the plants and he was slashing prices left and right. I got A. metallicum for $35! It has grown well, but the shape is much more long and narrow and the top lobes almost kiss. Never mind what they are, they are both beautiful!

This is definitely not a pure Metalicum. It's a hybrid, and a Mag verde is definitely a possibility. Nice looking plant.

@@Houseplantygoodness Took 6months to germinate...and grew under light and heat...very slow! But when it flowered and grew I felt like a genius!!!!!. Your plants are amazing. Very excited to have found your work!

Something about it reminds me of a Pappi cross. Hope to have a Metalicum Verde someday. How exciting Ecugenera order!!! My experience with them is: Philos need rehab an Anthuriums do awesome. Just keep watch on parcel an I don’t think they’ll get cold. Can’t wait too see unboxing!!💚💚💚

a few drops of soap / eco dishwashing liquid

To me it looks spot on like Regale Verde, the sinus is too wide to be a magnificum. But that's just my guess :D

My mettalicum from ecu is more elongated. She’s similar in to my my queen although not quite as long and abit more rounded if that makes sense. The actual leaf texture and veining is almost identical they’re actually sat next to each other in my cabinet and the leafs are intertwining they’re that much alike I struggle to tell the leafs apart without actually moving one of them.

Oh wow that is really interesting, I never would have thought they would be quite similar, but that kinda makes sense, thanks for sharing, I do think now based on everyone's comments that it might be a hybrid.

I have a similar looking anthurium (though it's smaller than yours at this point). I bought it from a local grower, who had it labeled as a "no ID". So far, no one has really been able to identify it for me, but I also haven't had an inflo yet. lol. Whatever it is, I love it. If yours is like mine, the camera doesn't seem to be able to pick up the "glitter" on the leaves.

Yes the way the glitter happens is so true you cannot see it on the camera. If yours is the same as mine, watch out it gets huge quick!

I just say sometimes to people this is my anthurium don’t know what it is but its a anthurium boi…
He may have some family issues and he is a bit slow but he is a honest and reliable boi✌️

Haha no way exact same thing happened to me with ecuagenera ..their website is confusing regarding delivery times isn’t it, glad it’s not just me being dumb, not that I’m saying you’re dumb 😂
I’m hoping it’s not too cold in October as I have the same trepidations now .. I ordered 22 🤦‍♂️ 😆

If you have a Lidl or homebargains near they sell it also wilkos I think, it’s in a red spray bottle, provanto will also work but I don’t like the smell of that stuff .. Here’s hoping for good weather in October 🤞..they did say they would use extra insulation so is what it is I guess ✌️
