A brief look at some vintage dealer brochures of the 1968 AMC AMX Muscle Car lineup. We take a look at the different trim levels and discuss the pricing of the various models and compare them to what the "Todays" pricing would be.

I would love to have one of these! I grew up in Milwaukee, and AMCs were made close by in Kenosha, so the AMX was definitely an aspirational car. I remember the snarky "Hey, Javelin!" commercials well. The plucky underdogs at AMC did an incredible job with this car.

I have two 1968 dealer catalogs - one without the AMX and one with. My father picked them up while car shopping (he ended buying an Ambassador).

I always wonder what the Tarpon could have done in the marketplace if AMC hadn't flubbed and put the fastback on the bigger Classic chassis. Like the AMX it was a beauty on the show circuit.
