    Chris, you're the man. I took apart the RM Pro on my RGX612 a few months back and the high B has been sitting lower than the high E ever since. Thanks to this video I figured out what I did wrong and everything is straight again.

    My God, man! I know this vid is a couple years old. I hope you are still following your comments. This is amazing! I have a Kramer that has been sitting disassembled in it's case for years! I had no hope for the Floyd Rose that was on it. All if the parts from it are in a baggie in the case. I didn't take it down to as many parts as you did here. Now that I think of it, I'm not even sure if I still have that guitar anymore. Maybe up in the attic? (OH NO!!!). Anyway, great great work and thanks for the vid. I have a few gtrs with trems on em. I'm only now learning what some of the parts are for. Like, honestly I just learned a day ago that those screws were fine tuners!

    Love your content man.
    Particularly your lessons.
    I got away from floyd rose and other floating tremelo type bridges about 18 years ago in favor of Les Paul, fixed bridge.
    There have always been times off and on when I miss my Charvels and other tremelo guitars that I once played.
    Anyway thank you for your uploads, they are fantastic.

    Good to know this is a nice tremolo. I've been eyeing a blue 421dm in near mint condition, but I coudnt find more info about the tremolo and this was my main doubt before deciding if I'll get it or not. So Im probably get this and drop a pair of evos on it

    I like the markers under the saddles... 👍👍👍

  • @societysvillain

    This is identical (aside from the branding) to the Jackson JT-580LP found on many Japanese made Jackson's in case anyone has those. When I took mine apart it had the identical lines marking the saddle height which I also originally missed because I was looking at those stamped numbers and scratching my head.
    Not a terrible Floyd honestly although I'm not crazy about the durability of the metal on the saddle. Granted it's 25 years old now, but I had some of the metal crumble off exactly where those numbered stamps are located on more than one saddle. I've also seen that they can get a permanent string wear mark where the block holds the string against the saddle which can cause strings to slip out. Especially if you like to overtighten your strings which tends to become a catch 22.

    Nice video.. not enough good information like this.. the TRS is basically just having a different saddle where it has a long tail for the first tuners and the locking g screws are shorter..instead of the fine tuners pressing on the long screws.. are these are standard bolds..M4 or M6 type?..I believe you can back out the fine tuners and run an M4 tap into the plate to clean them out if they are sticky.. you do risk them not stopping again unless you re punch them like OFR does

    • @theittyreport
      @theittyreport  4 місяці тому +1

      @bjstein4242 never tried retap but that's a cool idea for a fix. Ironically 99% of all my tremolo guitars are locked in a non floating position so it makes for alternate tunings easy. I know it doesn't make sense but I love fine tuners and the look of the tremolo so it works out.

    • @bjstein4242
      @bjstein4242 4 місяці тому +1

      @theittyreport i hear you.. one of my favorite guitars is an OG peavey wolfgang standard.. love the neck asymmetric profile and it's decked to the body.. d tuner on it.. stays in tune for months.. diving down is all you need.. I find decked FR type guitars are very stable.. but try running a tap in a poor turning fine tuner.. mainly it's the coated cheaper trems when the coating come off in the treads and gums it up

      These trems use threaded arms. You can find em all over ebay for cheap, just look for the threaded ended arms. These are good trems i would not bother replacing just because of the missing arm

I am interested in getting a RGZ/RGX 211 style guitar with the drop in, non-locking bridge (the string end sits in the bridge without being clamped/locked in). hi Chris! I use Google translator, I'm sorry :) great video. question: I bought Yamaha with the same tremolo, but it's all in rust. I want to sort it out and make a burnishing, will the metal withstand this procedure?

    • @theittyreport
      @theittyreport  4 роки тому

      If you soak all the parts in WD40 in a metal tin or whatever container works for 24-48 hours, the rust will come off and some 0000 steel wool will help smooth out the parts. Let me know how it goes, I'll check back on any comments you have

    • @theittyreport

      They are pretty common sizes. What I would do is call a dealer that sells bridges such as allparts.com and see if they can match the specs. The problem is that Yamaha has a billion different style bridges and I'd hate to tell you something wrong. But if you have a tape measure, you can get the distance from peg to peg where the trem rocks on and look for trems that would line up. Hope this helps

    Hello, excuse me, what are the radius of the saddles thanks!!!!

    • @theittyreport
      @theittyreport  4 роки тому

      They a standard size for Ibanez and floyd rose type tremolos. The D and G settles are the tallest, the B and A are a bit shorter and the low and high E strings are the shortest. These don't always work because of the difference between the neck radius on each guitar. And some guitars have compound radius so you buy a set of sattles that will most likely work but there's still a chance that it won't work. If you can take it to a local shop where there is someone that can tell you exactly what you need. It will save a few headaches later
