My first year for gardening with raised beds...
Costly to start up...
So fun... so far, everything is growing beautifully...
I plan on making each one into a portable green house to extend growing season...
Also add more next year...

If we can’t afford all
That lumbar to start with do you think I can build the 6 inch beds but install the posts to full length and add tiers of timber as I can afford?

I think that could work. We don't use posts on the inside of our raised beds. We do framing brackets from the decking section instead, but your way might make it easier to add as you go. You could also try pine instead of cedar since cedar is so expensive now
