    Since the factory ones can be easily removed, can we not just take them off and paint them black ourselves then put them back on?

    Looks pretty damn good tbh, although I admit I'd use the vinyl wrap until I know this wont come unstuck either from a pressure wash in the future or freezing temps over the winter.

    Installed mine yesterday. Looks great. Only downside is that they splitted the front and rear section in two pieces. Hopefully they will survive the german Autobahn and car wash ;-)

    Had a few minis over the years, my last one was a 2018 cooper S. Moved away as i needed something a bit bigger (Puma ST).
    Your doing a great job....just those wheels to sort out?

      Thanks for the kind words ☺️ I actually really like these alloys, far better than I had before. But who knows, I may swap them at some point

    Hi Ben, thought I’d ask if you’ve had any further issues with your F56? I’ve had my F56 cooper S for about a year now… pro exhaust kit and JCW Tuning kit 👍
    I’ve been told to not worry about the F56 engine as it’s “generally” very reliable but mine is coming up to 50,000 miles… what’s your current thoughts?

    Does this actually survive the car wash? I am very sceptical about sticky products.

      If installed correctly I’d imagine so. I always hand wash so can’t comment on automatic car wash places. It may be worth dropping SCP Automotive a message.

    Ben I thought you said this new car would be OEM plus?
    So far you have just fitted covers and clip on bits. I’ve gone OEM plus on my JCW, and fitted all genuine handles, belt line, light rings etc. they are not cheap, but the quality is so much better. The clip on stuff is just cheap, and doesn’t do the car justice.

    • @BenRolfe
      @BenRolfe  3 місяці тому +3

      That’s true, but as you’ve said they’re not cheap. Eventually I’ll get around to buying OEM parts such as the gloss black belt line, door handles, spoiler extensions etc but I’ve got to get saving first 😂

      It still counts as OEM+... It's literally a replica version, nothing wrong with the quality of SCP/KAC/SMPs, unless you looked closely you wouldn't tell the difference. And the official parts from MINI are so expensive and 9/10 look the exact same.

      @@M17_Max My JCW came with all of the stick on stuff, and I've replaced it over the time. From the rear light rings you could see chrome when the boot was open, and the door handles had a lip on the inside what you could feel when opening. The fuel cap was also chome when open. All of these bits came from the suppliers you mentioned. I know you you are saying about only seeing it up close, but i don't want my car to be just good from a distance.The parts may look the similar, but you can spot them and the feel is not as good. It's a preference, but i would rather upgrade slowly and do it with the genuine products.

      @@mtough Ah right, so some of the aftermarket companies do replacement parts which is what I tend to use, as you’re right when it comes to covers. I have a couple left over but I swapped out for replacement parts and had no issues

      @@M17_MaxI’ve been tinkering and upgrading cars for the best part of 20 years. Aftermarket styling parts have always been hit and miss, so with this car I decided to mainly stick with OEM upgrades. The only exception for me, is where OEM parts are not available and the quality is good. A good example of this is the gloss black centre console trim. The standard plastic Mini version looks a little dull, but the gloss black stick on panel looks like it was always meant to be there.

  • @AJAJ-uw8cj

    Was going to buy it until I saw the price… way way overpriced

    • @BenRolfe
      @BenRolfe  3 місяці тому +1

      It’s priced in the middle of the vinyl belt line and the OEM offering MINI has.
