Apparently off camera Sir Killerlot caused further damage to Caliban, which team TFOSICA later complained that Caliban's Gauntlet run was fixed in an attempt to showcase the strength of Sir Killalot, but again this was not shown on television. It's a shame we never got to see the best of Caliban. If they had better driving it would've been interesting to see what damage that full body spinner could have done. Piece de Resistance on the other hand was a total failure, turbo charged my eye balls!
Complained that they got beat up by robot that they themselves started a fight on, and because they decided to drive poorly in that direction too, hardly fixed.

Thankyou so much for uploading this season! Season 2 was the first season i watched as a kid, and so will always feel special to me. The quality here is so much better than the crappy played 200 times VHS tapes ive got it on from back in the day
This series marked the introduction of Sir Killalot and the Pit of Oblivion. It was the only series not to have Corner Patrol Zones (CPZs) but instead Perimeter Patrol Zones (PPZs). It was the last series to feature the Gauntlet and Trial rounds as they were scrapped afterwards in favour of pure robot combat starting with the following series (The Third Wars).
"Who can forget Shunt who can cleave anyone in two with the deadliest of axes" *meanwhile in all of series 1 the most damage Shunt did to anyone was a TINY little cleave in the armor of Plunderbird* Ok Jonathan.
Feel so bad for those girls having to put up with that David Crosby goon. First season he got so mad he walked away. And in this season that poor girl drove forward like 10 feet and he had to jump over her and start grabbing the controller. He’s an ass.
To be fair to the bloke I think he at least realises he's acting a bit like an arse at the end and its for the girls. Nice he at least has the humility to say it was down to the girls driving and not him.

Cheers for the high quality upload NJGW! Always thought it was a bit weird that the producers decided to lead the series off with this Heat, instead of something like Cassius or Killertron's episodes. Heat L was a bit lacklustre as well, so.... symmetry I guess? I've watched the Heat Final several times over the years, and I really don't think that the decision for Napalm is as bad as some people make it out to be. Some people claim that Demolition Demon "dominated" the fight and personally, I don't see it. Napalm and DD bumped into each other multiple times and both got some good shoves in. Napalm actually started things off by pushing Demolition Demon halfway across the arena and into the PPZ, for one thing. Besides, there's about 3 minutes of the fight that was left on the cutting room floor. It could have been like the Mute vs Judge Shred 3 case, with Napalm having more attacks that were left out of the broadcast.
If that was the case, they should've edited the footage better in order to show how Napalm was better. At least with Mute and Judge Shred 3 it was visible for a moment that the latter was dead on one side. All we see here in Napalm's favour is ONE push from it to Demolition Demon, along with two weak taps from its rear spikes. I could've humped harder than that. And even if Demolition Demon didn't damage Napalm directly, it happened as a result of the former pushing the latter into the PPZ. Besides, Demolition Demon got more pushes in and more effectively so by getting underneath. It may not have been to the point of total dominance, but it should've been Demoltion Demon that won here, at least based on what's seen here.
@@ryanodonovan9497 Yeah, the editing on classic Robot Wars was a bit odd sometimes. In this same series, you've got the fight between King Buxton and Robodoc- King B absolutely dominates during the minute of the fight that we get to see, yet Phill Brett said that the fight was extremely close- it took the judges 10 minutes to decide on a winner. I can understand trimming down the fights to fit the runtime and improve pacing (Check out the uncut version of Steg 2 vs Iron Awe; the TV version isn't exactly the best battle ever, but Steg spent half the time struggling to get into postion to flip in the real thing), but we often get robbed of the context for robots winning. Also, "I could have humped harder than that" has to be the best criticism of Napalm I've ever seen lol
@@TheLegacyofHitchcock Well, thanks for that. It means much like the compliment the old American live reviewer mystrsyko2 gave me when I said Napalm should be instead known as Facepalm, where he wished his humour was good enough to have come out with that first. Also, those edits you describe at least don't seem as bad as some others. With Robo Doc and King Buxton, it would've been better to show the former's work to make it look more competitive, but at least the right robot won, so King Buxton's work was right to be prioritised if only one robot's efforts could've been shown off. And with Steg 2 taking as long as you say it did to get into position to flip Iron Awe, well, obviously that should've been shortened. Who would've wanted to see the battle drag on with nothing happening before Steg 2 got its flips in?
Here We witness the introduction of the legendary Sir Killalot and permanent host Craig Charles. This is the season when RW changed for the better. Also didn’t pandemonium have a successor which stabbed a safety inspector in the leg?

I don't see why there should be complaints against 16:9 when clearly that was what Challenge optimised them to be broadcast in. Also, Caliban clearly made it at least 2m when cease was called, not 0.2m, and Demolition Demon were robbed.
I know this is an ancient video but it is such nonsense that the house robots continued attacking after 'cease' was called in Demolition Demon's barrel round.
Seeing series 1 and 2 after the later series (even series 3) is like night and day. There's comparatively little destruction, the arena is so different, the old house robots, the (admittedly mostly terrible) competitor robots, the old graphics, interactions and voice overs make it seem like it's a whole different program! It's quite refreshing, though, to see the old series compared to its later incarnation so you can see just how far it came to become the amazing program that lives in the hearts of everyone today. Demolition Demon was definitely the best robot of this heat. Looked the best and probably the best working robot there. Napalm didn't look like it should have won that heat final, though it worked better than before in the battle. Never liked the trials of series 1 & 2, especially not when it eliminated robots from the main competition. Doing them as side events in later series worked a lot better.
Yeesh, I'll never understand why, of all heats, they chose this one to be Heat A. Between the overall winner being Napalm, that victory being a sham, and also having such delights as Piece de Shit, it really does make you wonder why they put this one first.

Buuuuuut.........this is still one of the worst episodes in the shows history IMO, just on the BS outcome between Napalm and Demolition Demon alone.
God, I was under the impression that the sound design and mixing was inferior but that's only because the only other source on youtube is a multi generation VHS recording in MONO, which rarely sounds good when it's been converted from stereo. It's literally like seeing it again for the first time.
