- We get this question a lot, "what is the best time to do the Valley Of Flowers trek?" In this video, Swathi Chatrapathy shares everything you need to know about it.
In a nutshell, the Valley of Flowers trek opens during monsoon, precisely from June to September. In these months, there are two ways to experience this trek.
If you truly want to witness the flowers in their full bloom, then July or August is the best time. Please note that the valley also receives maximum rainfall during this time.
If you want to witness a lush green valley, plan your trek in June or September. The quantity of flowers may be slightly less. But the chances of experiencing clearer weather are considerably higher during these months.
Choose your best time based on how you would like to experience the Valley of Flowers trek -- in a burst of floral colors or as a lush green paradise

My personal experience no need to go with any company, diy this trek all facilities at ghangharia just be fit. Choose best available camps or lodge and food as per your wish at ghangharia. Don't get restricted by non sensical trek leader or unfit trek group and trek till last point in valley. I went with ih in July, got bad experience (room and food) and toxic company. They just charge most with least quality of service provided.trek leader does biased behavior with people in same group. Other companies have covered more trek and with better atmosphere in group. While india hikes staff was too patronizing without respect to trekkers doing good.i was left and forgotten ,had to cover on my own.
What you're saying is very worrying. We seldom hear of such experiences with us. We are looking into why it happened right away.
is there risk of landslide or any kind of risk in monsoon ?
@@Indiahikes it keeps happening just that ppl leave it after paying and get busy in our routine life.
@@niharbindumallick144 yes on the way to valley but authorities do keep checking and stop travel, good arrangements in village ghangharia safe there.
Kya hum vha khud ka camp lga sakte h
Thanks a lot for precise information, I wish clear weather to enjoy colours of valley and flower too... so Aug end early September 🙏🏾

Glad you enjoy it!

Hi can we visit vof with kids 11 yrs and 14 yrs old
How about 3rd week of October
❤
I have planned for 1st october for valley of flowers and hemkund shahib. So is it worth going at that time. Please reply me as soon as possible 🙏🏻
Did u go?? If yes how was the experience?
Hi Swathi
Can Indiahikes arrange for helicopter from govindghat to ghangaria?
Planning for 1week of July this year
Iam also planning
I went there last year in mid august...
did hemkund and vof trek
How was the experiance? Rains.. Vewry heavy?
@@rojijacob It was great... It was the monsoon season but the rain didn't trouble us that much. All the mountains were green and with so many seasonal waterfalls on our way from Rishikesh to Govindghat. On the day of the Valley of flower trek it was raining but was manageable with rain covers.
One issue we faced was that because of 15 August holiday and so many tourists came up to Ghangharia and there was a shortage of rooms. So pre-booking is recommended if you're planning around the same time
Thank you @@kalpanaarora7214 for the reply and the important info. We plan to be there around 26Aug.... BTW, May I ask you, what is the trekking shoe you had?
@@rojijacob Just have any trek shoe with ankle support.. I don't remember mine but it had ankle support
How does October feel like here?
I will planning for 28 sep to 3rd oct. So it is possible to experience the valley and hemkund?
About 14 years back, I had to return half way from a local trek due to low fitness. That hampered my confidence which created a fear about trek and dented my self confidence. But I love nature. What do you suggest to overcome this mental block ? Also what fitness regimen you suggest. I currently swim thrice a week for about a km and walk twice a week for about 5 kms and do some lunges etc
Hi. To do this trek comfortably, you must be able to cover 5km in under 35 minutes. This is the minimum fitness required for this trek.
You can learn about how to get fit for
Valley of Flowers here: indiahikes.com/valley-of-flowers#getting-fit
We have planned through searching souls in mid june
Can u provide their number?
You can also try Augy Travels
Thanks
How to know at what day the valley closes in September
Hi, usually the tourism department announces the dates. This year it will close on 31st October.
What fitness preparation you suggest for this particular trek?
If you're able to cover 5 km distance in around 38 minutes consistently, you should be able to do this trek.
What is the situation from haridwar to gangharia, is it safe to visit in mid August?
Hi Priyanshu, because of landslides our trekkers are not able to reach the basecamp as of now. You can check our news updates on the website for timely updates - indiahikes.com/
Hi Swati....thanks for the wonderful videos, they are full of useful information....I have 2 questions : 1) We are planning to go on 29th September, will flowers be there or by that time they are all gone? 2) I want to take my 6 yr old son also, is the climb to Gangharia and beyond doable for a 6 yr old?
Thank you Abhishek and I am glad you liking the information on our videos :)
1. Towards the end of September there will be very less flowers but there are chances to see a few flowers scattered across the valley.
2. 6 year old can do the trek provided the child is active. There are multiple rest points on the way. So I think it won't be an issue. Just that they might take more time than expected. You can take a call at Gangharia whether to take him ahead or not.
Thanks much.... appreciate your advice!
Can we go on July 3 and see the flowers??
Do we have washrooms on the way to valley of flowers trek.
Hi, we have another in this series which talks about food and accommodation on the Valley of flowers trek. You will get an idea about the accommodation part in this video :)

Hahaha even I am planning to cover on 15th aug because of long weekend
😅 True, most people can't help it!
What about the landslides during the July august...is it safe to travel... Frm rishikesh to govindghat*
Its the only reason i am confused i should plan it or not.! As i will be the one bringing up the frnds so i should know about it wekl
Plz be a bit clear about that as well
Monsoon season is very risky in Uttarakhand. Please check the weather reports before departing.
@anshchauhan456 will you be travelling then?
How is network connectivity in Joshimath and Ghanghariya..is it stable enough for WFH?
Is it good idea to visit valley in august ??
Hi, August is definitely a good time to do the Valley of Flowers. In August, monsoon clouds hang low and wash over the entire valley. Maximum flowers in the valley bloom during this period. While you get a good amount of rain at Govindghat during this time, at the higher altitudes it turns into a drizzle.
The only downside of trekking in August is the huge number of crowds that fill the trail. If you time your trek on weekdays, you will find fewer trekkers. However, the trail is completely filled on holidays.
Is it safe? I heard it is landslide prone area
I m.plaaning to visit uttrakhand in mid December, please advise if any pros and cons.
Where in Uttarakhand?
In May how it is, can we go for trek
what abt first week of sept.would we find more flower n clean view of valley at that time also.
You'll find the last few flowers blooming in the valley. Clear weather too, compared to August. It's a very nice time to go!
i am going to auli in feb., should i go to valley of flowers during this time?
Hi, the best time to do Valley of Flowers trek is July to September.
❤❤❤❤
Is it good to go in October??
It usually closes by the end of September. The flowers are all gone and they valley is dry by October. So we wouldn't recommend it.
What about last week of August ?
That's a great time to do the trek, you'll see a lot of flowers! :) Please go ahead.
Is it safe to visit the valley in the month of May?
It opens in June..
for cloud drama aug is good season
Very true! Photographers and film makers will love it(
Do i need to complete any registration before going to VOF ?
If you're trekking with Indiahikes, you'll have to simply register with us. But if you want to do it on your own, you'll find all the information you need here - ua-cam.com/video/4O8yIY7s_Fs/v-deo.html
It's a complete guide on how to do the valley of flowers trek on your own.
