  • We rented a Karcher Carpet Cleaner and Detailer from Home Depot. It was $24USD for 24 hours (plus $5USD Tax) and it was money well spent!
    Here is a quick video showing how to set it up and use it!
    If you haven't cleaned the upholstery in your car for a while, be prepared to be grossed out by how filthy it actually is.
    You can get Folex [the cleaning solution] here: amzn.to/3cADWHb

    Thank you so much for putting this up, I didn’t have a lot of time to use this machine and I was able to figure out how to work it from this video so quickly. I will say, it took me a minute to understand that the solution runs out relatively quickly and you have to refill it a few times if you’re doing a whole car. (:

    The link Home Depot gave me to learn how to use this thing was incorrect and provided me with info on a larger, much much larger model… but with my ability to hack into anywhere and get the info I need I looked up the model that I had and I put it into YT and yours was the one I clicked on first. Damn Sonic and their hi-punch juice formula… that stuff seeped IN to this carpet and held fast IMMEDIATELY… So while the product/machine combo I used didn’t get it ALL out it looks much better than when I started and your video made the process of using the machine easier than HD did. Thanks very much!!! 💟

    Does this come with an attachment to do home carpet? I didn't see this at Home Depot Rental yesterday. i see the one Rug Doctor. BTW, is there a diff between the blue Rug Dr (i saw at Home Depot) vs the ones at Safeway that were red? It would be nice to rent one machine and do both home rooms and car. Had our rooms professionally done before moving in many years ago and never had it redone. HArd to to entire room with furntiure, so it'd be a partial clean.

    • @samechick
      @samechick  9 місяців тому

      The Karcher we rented was small and came with no added attachments for your home carpet. I really think it's just for your car.
      From what I can tell the Safeway Rug Doctor says Spot remover and Detailer, so I am not sure that is for entire carpets unless it comes with an attachment that I don't see on the site. From what I can tell that's for stains specifically.
      The Home Depot blue Rug Doctor is primarily for your whole carpet but does come with the upholstery attachment if you need it for that.

  • @sandeesandee2562

    Is this unit more for cars vs home carpet (I see these blue colored dr rug units rentals at Home Depot). I like to do my car and the home carpet of course the home carpet being the main thing. It looks like the tank for the solution is very small. Can we just add water and no cleaning solution for the second pass (I guess that might be needed if we’re using a solution that requires rinsing right?)…. since my mom‘s carpet hasn’t been cleaned for while
    I was thinking running it with just Clearwater so that it will do a steam job before I use a solution what do you think about that? Does the unit heat up the warm tap water that you put?

    • @samechick
      @samechick  9 місяців тому

      I definitely think it is more for cars and as far as I could tell it wasn't heating the water like a steamer would. Clear water isn't a bad idea if whatever it is you're cleaning isn't as gross as his seats were.

    • @samechick
      @samechick  Рік тому

      Karcher doesn't recommend using this on furniture, which I found out after I posted this video. I'm not sure why that is but the upholstery attachment on the rug doctor pro will do the job depending on what dog smells you have. May also depend on the kind of fabric the couch is. Maybe try on a little spot somewhere on the underside of a cushion to start.

    • @samechick
      @samechick  3 роки тому

      Hmm I don't know about that. It worked well on the fabric on my seats and the carpet on my car floors but none of those are made of wool.

    I.dont have a vacuum, can I use the machine as a vacuum without spraying solution

    • @samechick
      @samechick  3 роки тому

      Hi Joseph, that's an interesting question. Most vacuums have some sort of a filter system inside that this doesn't have. So, you may wind up damaging this somehow if you did use it without the water.
      It does suck up the water pretty well though so maybe it would work that way, I just wouldn't recommend it.

      Hey there Hoezay, we added the Folex, but someone in my rugdoctor video comments said that he recommends only using what the machine says to use. I will say that the Folex worked very well and we haven't had issues.

    • @hoezaylopez3817
      @hoezaylopez3817 3 роки тому +1

      Ahhh okay gotcha! Thanks for the fast response! Or i can do it manually, buy my own solution without having to use it in the machine; that being said am i still obligated to put the warm water in there without the solution or is that only if im using that solution can i leave it empty?

    • @samechick
      @samechick  3 роки тому +1

      I would use the solution with water, unless the bottle it comes in says to use it straight. The stuff we used was pretty specific as to water to solution ration, I'm sure almost all solutions would come with some sort of ratio. Or do you mean your own homemade solution? If that's the case I guess I'm not sure. Would depend on whether or not you have water in that. Car upholstery is tough, but I wouldn't want you to use something that was too strong on it and maybe leave some water stains or discoloring or whatever. I used Folex because ChrisFix used it in one of his videos. I'd stick to that or whatever the manufacturer recommends.

    For the little lever that you squeeze for the cleaning alotuion to come out, is it the same solution thats in the bucket?

    • @samechick
      @samechick  4 роки тому +1

      When you squeeze the lever the stuff in the lower tank (that mix of Folex and water we poured sloppily into it) that comes out. It comes out of a little nozzle that's under the clear plastic vacuum part that sucks the dirt away.
      I hope that's kind of clear.

      Hi Sana! Great question! He did both seats! Because he didn't take a scrub brush to it, I think each seat only took about 10 or 15 minutes.
      Drying takes a bit more time though, so you aren't ready to go right after you've used the cleaner.
      I have another video on this channel where I cleaned my "new" used Toyota 4Runner with this same carpet cleaner and after I was done we put a dehumidifier in the back cargo area for a few hours to make sure everything was completely dry. I think may have Dave done that in his Blazer too.

    How much solution should you pour in?

    • @samechick
      @samechick  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Cody! We didn't do exact measurements. I added about a cup or more to the full tank. It worked fine for us.
      The manual says:
      2. Pour clean, hot water to the indicated fill line of the
      solution tank. To avoid possible tank distortion,
      water temperature must not exceed 140 F (60C).
      3. Add a non-foaming cleaning solution concentrate,
      for use in hot water extractors at the proportions
      noted on the container into solution tank.
      But it doesn't give you an amount.
      Here's a link to the manual.
