The process of a black and white photo with color as is so popular with these jazz records is called a Duotone.

Most enjoyable WCB. 10" records are so rarely seen, at least by me, so it is very interesting to actually see the covers - many of which are so cool. I appreciate you sharing them.

Thoroughly disagree with you on that Mingus Debut cover. It looks absolutely stellar, like some sort of hipster/indie cover from 2015. It‘s great and very striking, simple ‘50s graphics yet none of the ‘50s stuffiness you usually get before reaching the middle of that decade. (I guess “hipster” is the right word given the jazz‘ adoption by the beatniks… 😅)

My favorite vc UA-camr! 😊 i didn’t expect you to have 250 10”s! I need to get some. One I am looking for is the Tõnu Naisoo trio 10”

Until the mid 1960s, 10“ records weren‘t all that weird in Europe. They were perfect for briefer albums and they were also common in the classical world until about 1962-ish, as they lend themselves very well for shorter works. And for consumers it meant they were cheaper - remember, records were considered a luxury product in Europe, as opposed to the USA, and a 12“ full-price LP in Europe would cost as much as today‘s equivalent of $40-$50.

I've got more than a few 10" records. How best to store them is always an issue.

Quite true. At least these days the inner and outer sleeves are widely available, as supposed to folding 12” ones and making them work

Sometimes a signed/autographed copy selling can drastically skew the mean sales price.

what's crazy is a lot of shops even here don't put them out on the floor. I've had to ask before and some shop owners will produce a stack of them from in their backroom, or they inform me that they sadly typically throw them away

I do not know Jeff Gilson. But those backing AMERICAN musicians went to Europe in 1958 with Donald Byrd… and recorded those two albums in Paris… on Brunswick and recently re-released on SAM records.

I have a question ? It is by no means directed at you .
Does You Tube pay you after a certain amount of subscribers you get?
A women posted a you tube on how she gets paid by them

You have to have 1000 subscribers to start earning any money whatsoever. After that, no, it’s based on views and then the demographics of your audience. I’m sure I’ll always be small time since I focus just on the jazz genre

True what you say: I have a Dave Brubeck on Fantasy Records and a Lee Knoitz on the Pacific Jazz label both on 10". The Pacific Jazz is beat to death, as are most 10" that I've come across (including Classical titles). Your explanation makes sense. Though 10" cover art tends to be quite stellar for some reason
