Thanks mate! got a few Sals sitting at the workshop, they just hang down a bit more then i'd like. Since i got the locker i'll peg the diff and that will resolve my loading issue.
Beautifully filmed and edited video. It's awesome to see a Classic still being used as intended to cover some gorgeous scenery. We've got a '93 Classic and 110CSW and my brother has a Puma 90, so very much a Landy family. They have their issues, but for me the Rangie Classic will always be the best ever. Bad luck with the diff, but you had the right people with you and that can make all the difference. I feel your pain on the drive home. On a trip from Melbourne to Adelaide in the Rangie, I got to Tailem Bend about 7:30pm only to be faced with a leaking water pump. The V8 had the old tin head gaskets and a slight leak on one bank meant the cooling system was constantly being over-pressurised. I had no choice but to buy a ton of coolant from the servo I stopped at, turn around and head back to Melbourne - stopping, letting her cool down, topping up the coolant if needed, then continuing on. I got home at sunrise after driving all day, then all night to get home. Kudos for sticking it out for three days of that!
Thank you! I built it to be used and to take me away to as many new and remote places as possible so i intend on doing just that! over the past 115,000km's its been nothing but a formidable and reliable force but decided to kick up a stink this time. we'll roll it in, fix it up and get it back out again real soon! glad to hear your 93 RRC and 110 continue to provide you joy!
In the 115,000km's i've done on it since the rebuild its been faultless,. This one's on me unfortunately, should have pegged the diffs right from the getgo.
This video was worth the wait!! Great story telling as always The night time drone shots & onboard during the rain storm are amazing! Hope you have an easy time sorting the overheating issue.
Another fantastic trip, mate. Great video. I recently purchased a 2 door classic in the Scotland having owned defenders for 25 years. Loving it. Am I right in remembering you have a 2” lift on yours? What size tyres are you running? Keep up the good work and all the very best with the new business! If you were in the UK I’d be down to visit you in a flash! 👍
What a nice RR you have there they are such a nice 4wd. I owned a P38 RR with a Gems engine and no longer have it but the new owner I got to speak to said it now has 350,000ks on the original motor. I changed out all the serviceable parts fuel pump, alternator, water pump and put it on coils and went everywhere in it even from Perth to the Vic High country. I still have Land Rover in my blood and they are a great car if you look after them. We have recently been to the Flinders and it was epic to explore.
E/H. Well certainly not the first thing that will break on your Rangie and it won't be the last you can be certain ! ! Pick up a "Terrafirma" catalogue soon and stick the rig over some scales to see if she's under GVM and as the late originator of Lotus Cars UK once said, "simplify and then lighten" Mista ? ? V.
She's got all the upgrades in the world, definitrly not getting anymore! 🤣just need to peg the rear diff (and probably front too ) and we're right to go!
@endakhudson E/H. Give the Three Stooges@'Rovacraft' a buzz when home ! ! A set of stronger 3.73:1 crown wheels and pinions new in box are on the shelf ? ? V.
Hey, im really enjoying your personal and mechanical journey with your RRC. Ive just put hancook tyres on mine as they are better on the farm that BFG's, but they are noisy as hell. Mines and 86 4 door commercial so no seats int he back.Any recommendations on sound deadening?
You videos are top notch, motivating and inspiring. What was the issue w the coolant and overheating? Working on a 4.2 ‘95 rrc lwb myself. Love color u chose and that u actually use yours. I restored mine and don’t use it. U said something like that u wanted to fix rivers and get them back on the road to be used. That’s what I am doing now w mine! Thanks.
Many thanks Andy! yet to confirm the problem, rolled home and parked it up and got back to working on the other RRC's in the workshop which are a priority. But i suspect either a malfunctioning thermostat or blown head gasket. Will get to it when i have a minute to run through them both. Good luck with your current resto!
The harry link and love the video you did. Keep up the good work. I love landies and esp the old rrc having grown up in one but my d2a finally broke me when i just did not trust it to go off road in it 😢 and ended up going an old ln106 hilux. Its not been perfect but it just doesent get the silly problems the 92 rrc and d2a ive had did. But you have about as perfect of a rrc as you can get so looking forward to watching you in the future Btw good job on getting it home, if it does it again in the future try a tube of silver seal i have used it with the speedway cars ive ran in the past to finish off a race meetings when a headgasket has started to blow and works pretty good for that then would do the gasket when we got home.
New subscriber, excellent Land Rover content! I had to write that I had the very same over heating symptoms with my 300Tdi converted x-mod Defender. It turned out that the head was warped and needed 3/10th removed to get back to level. I changed from the fiber head gasket to a MLS head gasket. 6 months on and several camping trips including a long trip to Norway, no issues with the engine. BTW, the input manifold, is that your handy work with changing the inlet to the center of the side ? I have an extra one here and was wondering if it's worth modifying? Have you noticed any improvements with the engine?
Just went through the same thing on my front diff in my LS swapped discovery 2. Turns out land rover didn't change anything when they put the rear diff in the front...nice. no reverse cut teeth. And the 2 pin diffs are notoriously weak...funny all the corners they cut! Took it as an excuse to get regeared and threw in some Ashcroft air lockers front and rear. Also I am just now finding this channel?! Looking forward to seeing future uploads.
Yeah you have to do a few upgrades if you intend on using it past the local shopping centre carpark. Mine's rolling all the goodies, but in hindsight i should have pegged atleast the rear. Just loaded it up to much this time round on this hill and paid the consequence. Will be getting a peg kit and sorting that out to prevent it from happening again.
Did I miss a video? You chopped off your hair? I cut mine off 10+ years ago, just got too hard to take care of. Do you have an LT230? I'm wondering why the front wouldn't do the job?
There's been a few uploads since this, somewhere inbetween i decided to chop it off🤣. Yes i run LT230, but with a hill close if not 45 degrees+ all your weight is on the rear diff. You're not dragging yourself up front wheel drive. i also would have caused more damage trying to drive it up hence the dead pull to the top with no assistance by the car.
My '68 Series 2a did the same thing. All it took was to pull the stub axles, put it in 4WD, lock the hubs and drive home on the front diff.
Saved by a disco, that's awesome. Great video sir
Thank you!
Great story! I am totally jealous!!! 😊
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it!
Utterly brilliant video, such a great trip! Please do keep the videos coming, highly appreciated!
Much appreciated, thank you!
amazing explore with my dream vehicle
I love your videos !
Bloody great stuff man.
Appreciate it homie!
Landys will always get you home great vid😊
Thanks James!
What a great trip, very jealous, can we just take a moment to recognise how great the dog is ! Range Rover is looking fantastic too
Thanks mate, she's a beautiful dog!
Great video! Get a Salisbury under the rear and never worry about diff failures.
Thanks mate! got a few Sals sitting at the workshop, they just hang down a bit more then i'd like. Since i got the locker i'll peg the diff and that will resolve my loading issue.
Usual reliability 👍🏼
Quite outrageous that Irvine had the diff you needed.
Meant to be! otherwise, prop out, lock the tcase and we would have crawled home front wheel drive!
This is a great video. Excellent filmimg.
Thank you!
Always enjoy your videos!!
I appreciate that!🤙🏾
Super enjoyable edit, love the gentle delivery with the great music to accompany the narrative.
Always a thoughful message, thank you sir!

Great video, fabulous Flinders Ranges, interesting tracks. Great looking Classic!
Thanks you!
Great trip. It’s always a Landy that creates interesting drama for vlogs. Lol. 👍🏻🙏🦘

0:56 did u use gear oil for the engine?
Very nice video 👍
Thanks mate. Nope! just used the container to measure!
@ haha nice. Which gear oil viscosity did u use for the rear diff?
This video was worth the wait!! Great story telling as always The night time drone shots & onboard during the rain storm are amazing!

Stoked to hear you enjoyed it mate! thank you for your continued support!

Nice one congrats on the purchase! I’ve got a 2 inch body lift followed by 3” suspension in rear and 2 upfront.

Thanks mate! rip your carpet and sound deaden your floor replace seals etc if they're worn.
Excellent Video
Thanks mate!

26 stops to get home. That is mad. Love the video.
I'm a pretty stubborn guy. 😛
Belo vídeo
Thanks mate!
Ever thought of doing a round with the 4WD 247 chaps, would like to see a classic tackle their routes. 😊
If the opportunity presented, ehh why not!
No way..go with Tyler Thompson instead
You don't know the limits until you reach the limits. Good one, and good job getting it back on the road so quickly.
That's it, thanks mate!
He got you home; that's what's matter!
Absolutely!
The harry link and love the video you did.

Peter Berg and the directors of Friday Night Lights would be stoked on the music choices here mate, as with everything else. Un bloody real
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it!
Blown head gasket for sure, my 300tdi did the same thing to me half way between Sydney and Melbourne. Have you got an Engine Saver alarm fitted?

Local legends Irving and Karen to the rescue! Lovely people, I bought my 89 Rangie from them 👍
Getting rarer and rarer to find people like that! hope the 89's treating you well!

@@endakhudsonI didn't factor in the weight distribution. You made short work of it.
