    I take caffeine and theanine supplements frequently for studying but there was a loose green tea my mom got me from a co-op that induced the craziest 'galaxy brain'.
    I took to calling it 'the green dank' as it was a really deep green color and it would turn tea the color of kale.
    Made me want to get into growing tea... but I was living in an apt at the time.

    This happened to me the other day, unwittingly, drinking high quality black assam tea from India, in the morning, on an empty stomach. It doesn't hurt my stomach. It was my day off, it was quiet and early in the morning, my mind was clear, and after 5 infusions, I went on a bike ride to buy home made tortillas from a small bakery. It was a beautiful day. I became elated, and upon arriving, I was so happy, secure, content, and it was a joy to talk with the lady briefly who sold them to me. I knew I was altered from the tea, just didn't know about ' tea drunk, ' so it was quite a pleasant surprise and experience. I was also cranky later in the afternoon!

    Cool to finally put a face to the hand written notes you add to your orders. I have made a few purchases of your wonderful teas and tea wares. I have recommended your shop to many friends interested in getting into gongfu cha.
    I noticed you didn't add Shou or ripe puerh in your list of teas for chazui. I have had a 1996 ripe tuo from Yunnan that when brewed strong has given me some of my most intense tea drunk states. Shou or Ripe puerhs seem to get me tea drunk more than sheng or raw. Do you find that opposite for yourself?

    • @PathofCha
      @PathofCha  3 роки тому +5

      Hey mate! It's cool to finally get to chat:)
      Of course, reaction to a tea is a very individual thing. Technically speaking, shou pu-erh is a fully oxidized tea which means that it has a very low level of L-theanine - one of the components responsible for the "tea-drunk" state, turning caffeine high into something more chilled. Also, there are no catechins in fully-oxidized teas - that's another component that, in conjunction with others, works on making you tea high.
      Having said that, there are plenty of other elements in shou pu-erh that can alter your state, including caffeine and thearubigins.
      So, yes, it is possible to get tea drunk on shou pu-erh, but technically speaking, for most people, it is more easily achieved on less oxidized teas - white, green, yellow, Sheng pu-erhs. Remember Bai Hao Yin Zhen white tea that you got from us last year? - that particular tea get me tea drunk almost every time I drink it:) To each his own, I guess:))

    I would say the better advice is to not chase this state. It’s a side-effect of mindfulness within tea drinking that is enhanced by the properties of the tea. When we are absorbed in the now of our tea, when we fully engage with the sensory experience of tea, the state of calm creativity may come upon us. Chasing it is the craving mind and that will lead to sorrow.

    • @PathofCha
      @PathofCha  2 роки тому +8

      well, not exactly, no:) In russian prisons, they drink very low-quality tea made of broken leaves, what we call "tea dust". This kind of tea releases a lot of caffeine very quickly. And when russian prisoners make "chafir" they are simply getting overly caffeinated, which is worlds apart from what we call "Tea Drunk" (Cha Zui)

      Not sure I understand the question correctly, but "Wild Orchid" raw pu-erh should be brewed and drunk like you would brew any other pu-erh tea. @@hellspawnggc6245 oh, for the first tea raw pu-erh may be a tough one:) Be prepared that it's going to be a little bitter. But pay attention to the sweetness that comes with this initial bitterness, right behind it. Try to dissect all the fruity and floral notes.
      Practical advice: don't overbrew. If you are doing it gong fu style - do short steepings.

    What are your thoughts on Kratom? I am currently a week off (I found it has horrible withdrawals). I can't imagine this kind of tea is worse than that. • @adrianaslund8605
      @adrianaslund8605 Рік тому +1

      Yes it's addicting. But relatively mild compared to hard opioids and seems to be good for people weaning of opioids. It's not like a regular opioid and also has stimulating properties. It's actually related to coffee. Valeriana has been used in my household since I was a kid. As a sleep aid. And seems to be perfectly safe. I would also recommend Lemon Balm. Very healthy and good for anxiety. Kratom seems like the lesser of two evils and some people have legitimately seen success in treating opioid addiction with it. I think It's better if it stays legal for this reason. When you make it illegal. People try to find substitutes on the street. And if it keeps you from fentanyl. Its a good thing. It's extremely rare for people to have fatal effects from Kratom. Ive heard that Muslims in indonesia use it as a social drug quite like alcohol. In that context and in moderation. It's probably not that bad.

Never got the same thing with sheng or aged and unaged white tea. On the other side i have a green tea from Vietnam which at times gives me a push coming close to amphetamine. Im im already feeling ok and is in a neutral setting. I don't feel it as strongly. When im doing something fun and engaging in something social and stimulating while sitting still I might feel stronger effects. When I take my ADD medication it often causes it to kick in quite strongly and gives me a palpable euphoria with a tingling sensation in the stomach while at the same time being very rooted in place and relaxed.
