About the Manga:
Kengan Ashura (Japanese: ケンガンアシュラ) is a Japanese manga series written by Yabako Sandrovich and illustrated by Daromeon. It was serialized on Shogakukan's Ura Sunday website from April 2012 to August 2018, with its chapters compiled into twenty-seven tankōbon volumes. A sequel, titled Kengan Omega, began in January 2019.
About Each Anime Fighter (source Kengan Ashura wikia):
Karo Yoshinari (賀露 吉成, Karo Yoshinari; "Yoshinari Karo"), also known as The Giant of the Sea of Japan (日本海の大人道, Nihonkai no Taijinji), is a bulky heavy-looking older gentleman with an experienced, world-weary expression on his face. He is bald, with many scars littering his dome, has prominent cheekbones and has a thick white moustache which somewhat merges into his thick white beard. Karo wears fisherman's dungarees over a white short-sleeved t-shirt and a rope hachimaki on his head. Karo is a polite, quiet man who seems to have a relaxed outlook on life. He is highly protective of the harbor and will do anything to protect it. His fighting style is brute force.
Yoroizuka Saw Paing (鎧い塚塚 サーパイン, Yoroizuka Sa-pain; "Saw Paing Yoroizuka"), also known as The Howling Fighting Spirit, is a Burmese fighter with a lean and tall physique. He arguably appears much younger than he is, with a youthful and hairless face and spiky, voluminous brown hair and hazel eyes. True to his personality, he often sports a determined and enthusiastic expression with wide eyes and a perpetual grin. During bouts, he wears nothing except red shorts, a mongkol (also known as a mongkhon) and a pra jiad on both arms, being his headband and armbands respectively traditionally worn during Muay Thai bouts to ascribe confidence and luck to the fighter. Outside of bouts, he prefers to wears shorts and Hawaiian shirts. His fighting style is Lethwei

Here's to many more. Thanks for all you do!
Thank you SOOOOO Much. This was totally unexpected and the most we ever received in a Super Thanks. This goes a long way in helping us creating longer form content. Thank you
Karo Yoshinari is not a martial artist as other Kengan Fighters are, he is just a Fisherman that go there to save his company. He was just fighting with his willpower and natural strenght to save his Home and everything he knows.
and he was supposed to lose it on purpose
@@TheJarric Yeah, another thing. But he knew that even if he lost the Match Toyo Electrics would takeover his company. Big Heart guy Yoshinari Karo
That's all good but...show me an "advance"
@@tonyredgrave2611 ua-cam.com/video/h0NG7DxV5iE/v-deo.html
True but he did have fighting style special to him
That little shake of Logan’s head as Chad bear hugs him and starts wiggling him around was perfect. It gave that feeling of “just, why man? Just why?”
It's hilarious (and cute).
BEST bromance of 2022!
The shaking had me rolling!!!!!!!
@@ScenicFightsI just found this channel and I already love it😂
Glad to see our country's Lethwei potrayed brutally and accurately in an anime and seeing u guys breaking it down is a cherry on top. Good Job Chad and Logan!
Lethwei is awesome. I agree that it’s nice to see how Kengan Ashura portrayed the Myanmar fighting style with such care.
Lethwei seems perfect as a base martial arts for a tournament like Kengan Ashura. You would certainly meet the necessary conditioning for such an unforgiving scene through Lethwei as a background it seems.
Fuck man Saw Paing lost. I was rooting for him.
regarding the grade, we have to be fair on Karo: he's not a martial artist. he's a whaler. he in no way has any martial arts training, he's just making use of his superhuman abilities in the vain hope it'll help keep his fishing company afloat.
Heck he was originally suppose to throw the fight but he couldn’t follow the script after hearing of what will become of their port. He risked death or worst just to fight saw paing and defeat the company that wished to tear down his way of life.
Pun intended ?
I mean, a few of the dudes weren't really martial artists. Julius definitely wasn't a fighter. That big dude from Nepal wasn't a martial artist either, was he?
And yes Lethwei is somewhat brutal, it's like what you'd see in a street fight. Thanks for the breakdown, you guys are the best! Definitely my favorite UA-cam channel ever

Can you apply Lethwei training to western Boxing
anyone know how to build your body to take hits without getting injured and to knock out your opponent without you getting hurt in the process? I want extremely high amounts of pain tolerance and pain threshold, do intense things like giving hits without getting injured from it, not get knocked out at all kinda like that clip where some fighter kept kicking Rodtang in the face but Rodtang didn't even flinch or move instead he danced to taunt his opponent here: ua-cam.com/users/shortsCRbgIadu23U?feature=share , and I want to keep doing intense and physically demanding things for insanely long amounts of time with my limit being far away - or have my limit be non-existent at all if possible - even if I am injured no matter how much pain I'm in. There was a fighting video that became popular because one guy secretly had a knife and stabbed the other in the lung but lung boy carried on like it was nothing and still beat the shit outta knife boy even while bleeding. Also I knew of this guy who does Muay Thai and he made posted a comment on how during a match, his toes were fucked up in the process like one wrapped around the other at some point like ring around the rosie but he still kept kicking and hitting in the match like it didn't happen at all. The actor for Dustin in Stranger Things had broken arm and broken leg at the time when filming Season 1 but he still fully did that scene where he lifted and carried Eleven while running. Like he was just a kid and got broken limbs but still fully carried her around and ran like it's nothing as if she weighed less than paper. I won't do it now but someday if I'm more fit than I am at this point in my life, I wanna learn Lethwei. Thing is I have no gyms or combat people in my area so is there a way to learn, do drills, practice hits, and train Lethhwei at home by yourself? Because there are tons of channels teaching you how to learn and practice boxing first at home and by yourself before you feel like going to a boxing gym so I'm wondering if there's something like that for Lethwei. I want to learn Muay Thai, Muay Boran, kickboxing, BJJ, grappling, judo, wrestling, bareknuckle boxing, jiu-jitsu, all kinds of fighting on the ground, and all kinds of martial arts and combat sports as well so which one should I do first Muay Thai or Lethwei?
@@twentyonetortas5921
If you want to cross paths and mixed other fighting style together, i recommend you go to Muaythai first.
1. Lethwei Headbutt is still a big NO in western competition unlike Muaythai Clinch Knee and Elbow which got more accepting now. Unfortunatly headbutt can lead to getting disqualified other fighting style sparring and match too.
2. Lethwei focus on KO and fight within 2 minutes round. So no chess game and not much plans between fight, more aggressive like risky to get accident during fight which can also shorten your profession life.
3. Muay Boran was original create during war time so it's own full potential is being art of killing by paring with weapon or with bare hand. It also got headbutt like Lethwei but not available anymore today along with those annihilate move (grab and breaking limb like neck arms elbows legs knees even groin attack) and developed become Muaythai as you seen today.
This is why Muaythai didn't headbutt (sword pummel is more effective in Muay Boran or headbutt just to knock off clinch) and Lethwei look more brutal because it still didn't get develop like Muaythai.
P.S. There is and old story by Kru Muay(Martial Art Teacher) why Lethwei begins practice Headbutt technique because after Muay Boran got created and effective in war time, Lethwei fighter often got cutting an or both arms off. With hopeless to survive even imitate animals headbutt like water buffalo to save their life. (water buffalo is symbols of dumb in SEA like donkey in western)
@@KP_Casablanka I highly doubt that story of yours since lethwei already existed in 12th century way before Thailand was founded in the 13th century. Most likely that dude who told that story made that shit up as some nationalism shit.
It’s been an entire year since we got a long Chad breakdown! His shorts are amazing but I’m ready for a full class! Let’s go!
Love that Chad mentions Karo not employing much fighting knowledge, since the character isn't a fighter by trade. Even that harpoon attack they commented on in the beginning is meant to demonstrate that he's a fisherman first and foremost, and he hasn't internalized the intricacies of fighting, but just happens to be a huge, durable guy capable of taking and dishing out damage.
Thank you Kengan community! Are you excited for the upcoming Season 3? It's been one year since our last Kengan Ashura breakdown and we are back with Saw Paing vs Karo Yoshinari. If you're new to the channel, welcome home and make sure to subscribe and tell your friends about our channel. And if you're a regular subscriber, we love you! Let us know which fight scene we should breakdown next!
oh yes finally
Excited for 3rd season. It will be packed with great fights. Gaolang vs Kanoh probably best fight in KA at all
As an aspiring Martial Artist, this channel and series, Kengan Ashura, I'm always excited to see both of these come together
Raian vs mokichi robinson
I'm really excited for season 3, can't wait until fights like agito vs gaolang and other bangers get broken down
Man, I just love these longer videos, and seeing dudes break down the mechanics of how to effectively beat the shit out of each other never gets old, but the best part of this series is Logan's resigned acceptance to being the punching bag of an enthusiastic Chad. That little head shake Logan did while Chad had him in the bear hug made me crack up. Good shit as always, thanks for making the wait for Kengan's 3rd season more bearable!
Their bromance is the best. Can't wait for more Kengan Ashura.
Saw Paing’s bones are so unrealistically dense and I love it. He’s like Wolverine minus the regen.
ayy its you and yeah kengan ashura is kind of like Baki the grappler in that from the get go its so far outside the realm of what kind of punishment humans can take you kind of accept it. no one in universe follows the rules and its stupid fun.
Just some girl with a moustache you know what I just realised you probably make a good spectator
03:15. I find it interesting he went with a jab to the liver instead of a cross. I don't know if he was just saving energy for later on in the fight via a rope a dope or some other similar strategy, or if he was just not taking the fight that seriously and didn't put the extra effort in to add extra injury to the liver by using the cross and shoulder pivot to throw more force into the liver. Or maybe he's just running on instinct and/or muscle memory, I don't know. Could use some feedback on the matter from the comments section and/or the Channel Fight Coordinators/Instructors themselves.
Bro drinks his milk
12:59 I know Chad waited for this moment to show Logan how much he appreciates him just to lock him in with a bear hug and I'd like a bear hug from Chad too 🥲
We all want bear hugs from Chad haha.
I just love the frame when they're explaining how he trained his bones to be so dense where there's a guy swinging a sledgehammer right at a child's face
A well deserved long Chad breakdown after all those throws and stabbing. Great as always, does not matter how long it takes is always a great content.
Thank you Douglas! As you know, we love doing these breakdowns and we love seeing you here :)

We love u Logan not as a comedic punching bag but as a volunteer
im amazed from how much knowledge you can attain from Scenic Fights. the breakdowns are entertaining but the lessons are gold and worth taking notes.
We love reading comments like this. That’s our goal, to make these fun and educational.
Absolutely love you Scenic Fight guys and so happy to see more Kengan breakdowns! The hype is real!!!
Yes! Been waiting for this breakdown. Saw Paing is by far my most favorite kengan character. Cool martial art, cool gimmick, and cool personality. Plus he cooks! Can't get any better than that
Also in bonus chapters, Saw Paing actually sings soft ballads outside of the ring. Gaolang only knows his national anthem.
Always great to see more videos from this channel, and another Kengan episode is just the icing on the cake. I love the easy banter between the two of you, overall a really good video and I swear I learn more every time I rewatch your episodes. I absolutely can't wait for you guys to break down Gaolang vs Agito and Kuroki vs Agito, those fights are just so ridiculously hype.
"Saw Paing could have used a headbutt" made me laugh because Saw Paing's Hammer of Burma is sending Karo straight to the other world.
I'm wondering if you guys have any comments on the realism of applications of Karo's fisherman-based skills to martial arts? Like the judo chop being a method to paralyse fish used on Saw Paing, etc.
Also, considering y'all do manga breakdowns...Yumigahama vs Misasa feels like a video where Logan might enjoy himself, just pretend he's actually wielding a weapon there.
Excellent comment. We would have loved to see the Hammer of Burma, but Karo is a such a nice guy. He didn't deserve to receive that haha.
Makes sense on the grade. Yoshinari is a strongman/fisherman, and he fights using a combination of brute strength and hunting techniques.
There's also the extreme version of this character named Julius Reinholt who is a bodybuilder who uses nothing but raw power.
Julius Reinhold is a MONSTER.
@@ScenicFights not just a monster he is "the monster"
Reminds me of biscuit Olivia
"That might be a Patreon thing", lol. Lovin' the coverage of this crazy anime. Saw Paing's secret weapon? The most important element of training: don't forget to smile! Show your opponent how much you are enjoying yourself. It's the nicest mind f&ck you can give em'. Super Inspirational, keep up the great work
Saw Paing indeed is always having a good time
Yo I'm lovin this community feel yall got goin on, like I really mess with this series for a long time and I gotta say this is starting to get bigger and better. Thank you guys so much for continuing and leaving us so much knowledge to learn from the shows we love.
Thank you so much for the support. It means a lot to us
OFC Caro didnt show advanced martial arts, he is an ordinary fisherman xD Thanks for an episode, always cool to see KA breakdown
'Are you gonna balance on your big toe?'
I'M DEAD, I shouldn't have laughed that much but here I am, imagining Chad doing it!
So hyped for another Kengan breakdown. Saw Paing is one of my favourite characters in the show. Keep them coming guys :)
Haha happy to hear we can make you laugh. We need to get Chad balancing on his big toe asap.
I love that you guys touched quiet a bit on what can't be used in a real fight, makes the video feel like a thorough break down!
That's our goal with all our fight scene breakdowns. Happy to hear you enjoyed!
"Why is it always me?" Must've been running through Logan's head during that hug
Thank you for doing Lethwei breakdown. The Art of Nine limbs where you can actually headbutt in fights. Love and respect from Myanmar. 💖
Glad you guys are continuing the Kengan videos they’re awesome!
Seriously, why isn't this channel more popular?
That was a great breakdown, loved the inside trip from front body lock at the end
Glad you liked it!
Wow one of my favorite! Glad to see another long Kengan breakdown video
So happy to see another of your Kengan breakdowns! You'll be excited to hear the next season is confirmed coming up soon ;)
i love how the animation showed the torque in their torso to waist when throwing body shots. underrated show of motion in animated fighter shows
Saw Paing when he sees Scenic Fights break down his fight: "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
What I love about Kengan is you've got these very realistic, grounded styles, combined with these absolutely mad, out there styles. Make's for interesting matchups.
best format. TY guys
The way I see Chad face in the thumbnail he seems eager to bully Logan again lol
Yess a proper length vid! I love the shorts but I live for these fully fledge breakdowns 🔥
This is the fight that convinced me to check out Kengan. I love that the concept is effectively “what if the world warriors from street fighter used legitimate martial arts/combat sports?”
Saw Paing vs Karo Yoshinari is such a good fight.
@@ScenicFights There's really no bad fights in the anihilation tournament, the finals are going to get crazy good tough

Perfect, I’ve been waiting for this.
I really love you guys videos and can't wait for more full-length movie breakdowns.
The shorts are great appetizers but nothing hits like a full breakdown. Love the video, great breakdown.
REALLY hope they cover the new season. There are some serious BANGER fights this season
Burmese here...Paing is pronounced "Pine" (without the emphasis for the P word ) rather than "Peng" or "Paing". It makes me happy to see that Lethwei is getting some recognition !
Thanks! We went with the English pronunciations of Saw Paing from Netflix but thank you for the correction!
I love these kengan breakdowns!!!
I absolutely love the breakdowns but the banter brings everything to another level lol
This fight and Kaolan (the Thai boxer) are my favorite fights of the series. Kengan Asura is the only reason I still have Netflix, at this point, simply because of how aesthetically pleasing the fights are to me.
Kengan Ashura def has the most realistic (and most diverse) showcase of anime martial arts.
this was great!!! These breakdowns are so well explained!
Thank you! That’s our goal to make it fun and easily understandable for the everyone.
This was easily the episode I was most excited to see broken down! Great stuff guys!
Thank you! I'm glad we can make it happen for you. Feel free to share with your friends so we can continue to grow. What other fight scene should we breakdown next?
I so missed this! Welcome back and hopefully more long version breakdown from both of you!
We plan on doing more long breakdowns so make sure to share this with your friends and the Kengan Ashura community!
amazing video looking forward to more kengan breakdowns
Enjoying the fight breakdown and binge-watching your videos. More power to you kings 👑
This is really some of my favorite content on the internet. Seeing the two of you share your knowledge and interpret these fights never gets old. It's really cool that one of you specializes in armed combat and the other in unarmed, it makes both of you very active in the videos and ultimately makes the breakdowns better.
Thank you for this awesome comment! It means a lot to us. Let us know which other fight scene we should breakdown next!
@@ScenicFights The first thing that comes to mind for me is Upgrade. There's a couple pretty ridiculous fights in that movie, with and without weapons. The problem is, I'm fairly certain there are almost no real martial arts moves in them, but that might actually make for a more interesting breakdown.
Excellent video fight breakdown 👏
Awesome video! I've been loving the shorter judo breakdowns, but I really like the long-form style videos where you break down techniques in a more methodical fashion. From Kengan I'd have to push forward my personal favorite, Hatsumi Sen vs the Shapershifter guy, or the English character who fights Raian with the mixed jiu-jitsu, boxing, and aikido style.
Such great content! Always so interesting!
The Commentators in Kengan Ashura are actually thankfully providing breakdowns whenever we see a character display some kind of super-human ability. They do frequently provide some form of background to it and how it _may_ be possible in theory. So I'm curious if Chad and Logan have subtitles or something for those, or if they're seeing them at all. (i.e. Karo's balance and toe strength @7:04).
I suppose in the long run, depending on what it is it may not amount to much in a breakdown. (^~^;)ゞ
Look how excited Chad is to be back.
Love these longer breakdowns. The anime ones in particular but they're all good. You guys did an awesome job
Thank you! Love seeing you here all the time! Let us know which other anime fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!

LESSS GOOO.
I've been waiting for this since the Cosmo v Akoya video
I’ve been waiting on a long video for so long. Thank u.
Thank you for being so patient!
Always great watching your videos, especially these Kengan Ashura breakdowns. I've seen the show, and as someone who has had some martial arts training, in Tae Kwon Do, which doesn't really focus too much on grappling, although there are some practical techniques that utilize mild joint manipulation, I digress. It's nice to see these techniques broken down by professionals. Having a base martial arts style that you're trained in is all well and good, but by analyzing and learning takedowns, strikes, and grapples/holds from other martial arts styles, you give yourself exponentially more options should you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to defend yourself or your loved ones.
Good to see these long form vids! Love em! ✊️
Good to see you here and enjoying them as always 💪
what a great vid guys

Saw Paing is one my top 3 favorite Kengan characters. Awesome once again that you guys bring attention to this anime/manga. I can tell it's exciting for you guys too!🔥
We love it! Can’t wait to do more matches.
I honestly like how you guys say what's not realistic and how you should do in reality in long form videos which is hard to find in shorts but still love them all!

Beautiful breakdown! I’m loving the Burmese bare knuckle boxing info. It sounds CRAZY, and I think I’ve only heard of it once. The guys who do that are insanely brave to go at it with no protection for their hands and head! 😳
Incredibly tough fighters for sure!
Awesome! Can’t wait for season 3🌊

Oh man, i can't wait for the next season. Some of the best fights take place there, like Muteba vs Seki, Saw Paing vs Rei and Gaolang vs Kanoh. There are some more amazing fights there (Kiryu vs Kuroki being my favorite), but those 3 seen the most realistic and could make for some great content from you.
Yes! I cannot wait.
yo love you guys's content been watching since last year keep up the great work :)
Thanks for the support so far! We really appreciate it. Let us know which other fight scene we should breakdown next!
intresting thing on karo being able to stand on his toe like that
karo is a fisherman
he spent so long at the sea that his body now sees that as natural so he basicly gets landsick which is like sea sick but on land so when saw paing hit him in the head it actually made karo better cause now his brain feels like its on sea helping him with his land sickness
thats how karo can stand in that weird position and still punch at incredible power
its due to him being used to that kind of actions due to the enviorment at the sea
I always enjoy when you guys get into the mechanics of how a lock works, like what joint is doing what, and how pushing the head away makes your hold weaker, its super interesting how so much of martial arts is just split second physics calculations XD
I love your passionate explanation . Thank you!
Thank you! We really do enjoy making these. Let us know which breakdown we should do next!
Glad you guys are back again awesome video by the way😄😮.
Thank you!! Glad to see you here too 😁
Love these videos 😼
I'm glad you mentioned the headbutting at the end of the breakdown.
I have not seen this fight before, but when you mentioned that Saw Paing was a Lethwei fighter, I kinda thought the fight would end with him headbutting Karo and then Karo's head cracking open. I mean it already looks like Karo had cracks on his head. That would have been my ending.
Love you guys, like always
The character does use headbutts in his next fight.
@@jonathanperrott2298 ah, I gotta start watching this anime.
He doesn't use it out of pure respect for Karo. He respected Karo's decision to keep fighting even though Karo know that he is not a fighter but just a person defending what's important to him.
So glad to see a full breakdown again & a return to Kengan Ashura 🤘🏻
Would love to see a breakdown of the final fight in Best of the Best with Phillip and Simon Rhee and the philosophy of Taekwondo from Tommy Lee vs Dae Han. 👍🏻🤘🏻
Hoping you guys do breakdowns when season 3 comes out! I’ve read the manga, and there’s gonna be MANY more amazing fights and choreography.
I was waiting for this, Saw Paing the man!
Also, it's worth noting down that Karo isn't a martial artist, he's a fisherman. That's why he uses spear-like blows, and has that superhuman equilibrium.
love this breakdowns from experts
Great video! love you guys and I cannot wait for the release of season 3!!! Kengan Ashura is so damn cool.
Kengan Ashura is amazing!
