a great thing about animation is that stuff like gore and fighting can be done on a completely different level than what's possible with live action.
Homelander has never put (or been put) through a wall. Amazon is not spending enough money on action.
Not just gore I would say the creativity you can show through animation is limitless.
Even with the biggest budget, no live action could go hard in a way that DBZ or attack on titan or one piece or invincible etc etc etc can go

Invincible was never considered a parody. It was a more realistic view of superheroes similar to what the Walking Dead was to a zombie apocalypse.

Like Homelander is a bully who fights against people who are way weaker than him, but Omni-Man is an experienced warrior who has fought for centuries and fights people who could probably destroy entire cities.
Homelander only seems so strong, because the characters in The Boys are relatively weak when compared to other superhero media. He's probably not much stronger then Spider-Man, meanwhile Omni-Man has enough power to shatter the moon twice over

@@KilyiaFL I believe it's about latest comics, at average Spidey's power lifting is about 2-4 tons. For ordinary human he's like a train to the face, but he is much weaker than higher grade heroes. I know he can go on par with Wolverine and Hulk, evade or hold them for some time, but hell, he was beaten by almost every villain there was. Spidey is pretty vulnerable, his durability is not the best, and it's not his strength, but critical agility, reaction and web that serves him most

I've heard youtubers say they feel like they 'have to' make kinda childish jokes or loud quips in between their content as their YT analytics consistantly show that it helps viewership stats. It does make sense..
So for lots of YT-ers, it seems to be a 'business' strat, and doesn't HAVE to be something they like doing.
I guess I just don't belong to the largest demographic for which that strat is used.. I don't need random yelling or childish overthetop jokes to be entertained or keep watching.

I'm so glad you recognized that the trash bag Mark threw in Episode 1 is the thing *landing near* the guys in the opening of Episode 2, I feel like so many people miss that.
Edit: Watching people react to ending of Episode 1 will never get old. There's a reason no one mentions how gruesome it is because if you're putting someone onto Invincible for the first time, they need to experience the absolute tonal shift from Ep.1, into the rest of the show with the ending of Ep.1 and Omni-Man just absolutely soloing the entire Guardians of the Globe roster.

😊 it's ridiculous how people cannot wrap their minds around the concept that not all super hero stories have to be the same as what they have pigeonedholed them into. Adult stories have been in the genre since it began, you just have to go actually read more than a few comic books.
The Boys is edginess with politics, no actual heroes involved. Invincible is a show that literally showcases the realistic aspects of superheroing, both the pretty and ugly sides that other superhero media won’t show you

Yeah the boys is more of a dark satire of the genre with some good dramatic characters, Invincible is in it's core a superhero story made by people who love superheros, just much more adult and dark then most superhero shows

It appears you've learned a classic valuable lesson here: Animation is not a genre, it's just a media. You can do literally anything with animation. So it can be just as adult as any other form of media. There are no limits.

I havent read the comics but apparently the show puts a lot more time into showing Debbie’s side of things, and it was definitely a good choice because the mother-son dynamic between her and Mark is so well done

Rex Splode’s powers are actually pretty cool. He can charge any object that makes it able to explode on contact with a surface. The bigger the object, the bigger the explosion.

1) Amber gives her phone number to Todd to give to Mark. She's ok with Todd having her number? Really?
2) Todd tells Mark that Amber blackmailed him by digging up dirt on him and that information could be found by others too. Why would Todd want anyone else to know that others could blackmail & bully him, especially Mark?
3) Todd was already humiliated by Amber & Mark and was avoiding them both. Amber goes out of her way to find dirt on Todd so she can blackmail him. Not a good look.
I wanted to like her, but then she act all entitled about Mark's identity. That's when I lose interest. Besides we all know what the real story in the comic is

The boys and Invincible came out at the perfect time for me, I grew up on marvel first the Raimi Spider-Man movies and then Iron man, captain America, the avengers movies, etc. after endgame I started to get very burnt out on marvel and then the boys came out and it was like something I’d never seen it was so good and when I was left wanting more of the same Invincible came out, now they’re two of my all time favorite shows.

Quick reminder for Alex that Atom Eve is a teenager, in highschool...
Quick reminder: She's not a real person and is drawn by people to be an attractive love interest as well as many other things for the story. She's not a real teenager and the fact he's attracted to the love interest who is meant to be shown in an attractive way to demonstrate why the main character likes this girl makes perfect sense.
If this were a live action show with teenage actors then this would make sense as a reminder but it's not live action. I use this same argument against people turned on by loli characters, just because you they are technically 200 years old it does not change the fact they are drawn with the body of a child, Eve is drawn as a developed woman who while in highschool in the show looks much more attractive than the average highschooler as she's a comic book character.
TL/DR: She's a drawing meant to be an attractive love interest, not a random teenage girl

For clarification, monster girl was a college kid that vacationed overseas and managed to piss off an actual voodoo queen by trying to date her son. Now she can turn into that huge MALE ogre monster but not only does she have to deal with the extremely overexaggerate emotions of that form, including its libido, but her main human for ages backwards at a 7 to 1 ratio for every minute she is transformed. In the comics she even becomes a father because of the curse. Its very weird.
I’m not ashamed to say that I may have possibly had the same exact reaction Alex had when I first saw Eve.

Truly one of the best written comics. It will only get better as we get further into the story. As long as they adapt from it faithfully they can't go wrong.

I will never get over how great it is seeing the uninitiated reactions to that ending scene of the first episode. You go from watching what you likely perceive as your typical superhero show, almost entirely like the Justice League or something, and then you get this absolutely horrifyingly brutal end scene with Omni-man massacring your Justice League parody team. A fantastic opening to the series. As much as I like the Boys, this is something else.

I think it would be very cool if he could watch the Umbrella Academy after he’s done with the Boys (Season 4 when it releases), Gen V and Invincible… I know it’s not even close to the Brutality and the other not so beautiful scenes in the previous listed shows but some weird things are in this show too… taking ape, romance with mannequin, weird living cube. I think he would enjoy it :)
