While Jim Beam keeps the mashmill to most of the Overholt brands of rye secret, they tell us what this one is because the mashbill itself is a throwback to the Monongahela Rye era in Pennsylvania. We're trying this latest Overholt on this edition of Beautiful Bourbon.
This is a "rebroadcast" of our Facebook Live "Bourbcast". Better than a podcast, the bourbcast is a live video broadcast, interactive, and can be seen LIVE each Thursday at 7:00pm EST, at beautifulbourbon

If you can get a store pick of that Dickel 15 it’s awesome
Store picks aren't a thing in Ohio, but I sometimes see them in neighboring states. I'll keep my radar scanning.
The locusts screaming is something I miss. They're all in the South, but they're thin in Albuquerque.
12:27 That reminded me of what Ace Frehley does at the beginning of "Cold Gin." 🙂
22:04 You're not so think as you drunk you are. 😂

I am a Dickel fan, to a point. I like the No. 12 (though on the last bottle I had omitted the number and just called it Superior Recipe), but found the bourbon just awful. I've not tried anything else, though I plan to. I'm looking forward to next week.
Thanks, KC. 🙋
Yes! Cold Gin - exactly!! Cicada Frehley!! The Star Cicada!! I'm glad I could bring the song of summer to you across our great country.
I'm intrigued about this release, but I never tried any other Overholt ... I find difficult to enjoy rye in general. Anyhow I won't be able to get this bottle in EU anyway so no biggie, instead Old Overholt is more available but the price range is too high 35-50 USD (after conversion)
Yes, that price is a little high and I'm sorry that's the case. I'm most definitely a rye guy along with a good bourbon, but I do have my limits. I like a spicy rye, but a lot of ryes present with a grassiness or cereal side that I'm not as excited about, even when they're included in bourbon mashbills. Woodinville was one of those I really wanted to like. I appreciate the story and their popularity, and there were things about it I enjoyed, but it's probably not a bottle I'd buy again simply because it tasted musty to me.
