Great show Ray! And it's wonderful you and your Dad got to recreate that photo! Interesting, either YOU got big or your dad shrunk! 🤣 Anyhow, that's a great model you've gotten. I'm not a big fan of diesels but the RS-3's a classic and that Metro-North paint scheme looks great on it. And how cool is it you got to see and FL9 with the same finish? Thanks for bringing us along to the Danbury museum! What a surprise to see an B&M Mogul! I thought they'd all been scrapped! Thank God one survives at least! Those Moguls lasted on the B&M right into the 1950s and became synonymous with the B&M. Loved that New Haven RS-1 too! Lot's of good stuff at that museum. OK, a lot of it's rusty but at least it's THERE where a scapper can't get it. Personally I'd like to get a RailKing RS-3 in Jersey Central markings but I'm patient, I can wait. As always, thanks for posting!
Ray really excellent video - there are also a few operating railroad museums in my area (Northern CA) which also enjoy visiting with my family and also have a few engines operating from these museums- always enjoy your videos…
Very nice, Ray. Those engines and cars at the museum are pretty cool. You seem pretty good at finding the matching number prototypes, just like the RDC's on a previous video. That picture with your dad is so nice, recreating a fond memory. It is great that you and your dad can go out and enjoy some of the things that you did when you were a youngster. As always, an excellent video.
Great video Ray! You love Metro-North the way I love NJ Transit. It's really cool how you track down the prototype. The Danbury Railroad Museum looks awesome! We'll definitely have to take a trip up to see that beautiful New Haven diesel locomotive. It's really special that you were able to recreate that photo with your Dad. - Ryan
How fun and rare for many of us to match our loco with the real deal. Fun to see your journey in our hobby. Railking is nice. Premier is really nice. Best ever when livery is offered in your preferred line. You mentioned warranty. MTH does not warranty repairs as they repair nothing. You may know this. Retailer warranties repairs within MTH parameters. That said, I believe the PS2 with 3v boards are hard to beat with reliability and overall build quality. If you require a good MTH repair , try Rays Electric Trainworks. Had many conversions and repairs done. Not dissapointed yet.
love the Danbury Museum in Connecticut..went a few times as a kid(mom was from Connecticut)and was last there in 2019...great memories...especially loved the Pennsylvania mail car
The "605" engine is a beast. There are so many train cars and engines at that "museum". What a treat to see and tour them with you and your dad. Thank you, Ray, for sharing all this. Scale Rail Ray here - signing off till next time...
Once Conrail takes over something it can't go back lol. So you will have to paint your Railking locomotive Conrail blue lol. The FL9 also wore both the MTA approved Penn Central and Conrail colors. Eventually the MTA wanted to run their own trains and parted ways with Conrail.
Nice engine. I thought the railing looked a bit different until I saw that it is different on one side than the other and I wish they had left the the cooling grille black on the model, although that is likely just well aged. Do like the color scheme better though.

EXCELLENT VID RAY. THAT OLD METRO NORTH PASS CAR REMINDED ME OF RIDING THE LIRR FOR 20 YEARS. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. 😉😊

The tca should give you a grant to, once your retire, to write the definitive book on conrail.
Very interesting. Loved the pic….♥️
