I really hate the debating of if we should use oils because so amd so doctors said so. CLEARLY its working for the majority of us who do these methods. Her hair wouldnt be this long if it was detrimental. Eye roll. Beautiful hair and thank you for the tips
I forgot to mention in the video that I have decided to completely remove co-washing from my routine. I no longer do it at all, whereas in the past I would do it every now and then.
@shawnta, My trichologist and dermatologist said DON'T oil scalp bcus your sebum is waxy and putting oil on top of it can clog the pore and shrink the follicle which causes fallout and thinning
My question now is how come indian women have been oiling for decades and have the most healthiest hair we know. Cause anything with technology today can be subjective which means another study can come out and contradict the former one. Some people do scalp oiling and they never experience any issue with that. I think we should normalize the fact that what works for one cannot necessarily work for others since we are all built genetically and ethnically different.
@@kit-kat9701 Indian women shampoo their hair after oiling it. They don't go more than two days without shampooing their hair. Black women leave oil in their hair for a week or weeks without shampooing.
@Vellalouise2223 I understand your point but if you read carefully, I said we should normalize the fact that if someone do not necessarily experience any issue with that and their hair is thriving, it doesn't mean it's a bad thing since we are all different. To each their own.
@@kit-kat9701 my mother is Indian descent. It is not common practice for Indian willing to keep oil on your scalp for two, three or even four weeks before washing it out. Cut it out. Common knowledge that they do these treatments and run out within hours.

Black communities and so many other cultures have used oils for centuries for hair health. When wash day comes I do a thorough cleanse and my scalp is never clogged from it. I do agree that it must be the correct oils used to get the best results
Oiling of any kind is not good oil and wax doesn't mix and 2x a day is excessive plus oil goes directly into pore so even if you wash it out same-day it's already done. But to each their own. I grew up on greasing and I stopped.yes ancestors used oils but they did have what we have today to protect their hair. Putting it on hair is cool but not near or on scalp. Btw I have had tailbone natural hair my entire life. It's mid back now bcus I cut back the thinning due to hormone depletion post menopause.
this is the issue we stopped doing what our ancestors did because “they didn't have the technology” and I feel like we shouldn't fix what isn't broken. My grandma was well into her 90s with thick long hair and she used butters and grease
@@kayla7316 Current african cultures (in 2020) do not use excessive oils on their scalp. Even pre colonization, they wore their hair in stretched states. Even the women and men of Chad do not oil the parts of their scalp they want to grow - just the hair shaft. Their foreheads, however, received direct oil to the scalp to make the hair recede. Its okay if you did not know this. You're American not African.
@@ShawntasWay Other cultures wash their hair weekly. They use oils temporarily not let it sit on the scalp until "wash day," which is often weeks or months at a time for current black american women. Because of this lack of knowledge, Black American women continue to leave it on for long periods of time. This idea came from the misconception that Black hair is dry therefore it needs X (insert oil, moisture, or whichever product you use).

ALL hair is DEAD!!! Do you mean will she make a video on trimming her possible split ends and/or thin ends? I’ll try to get in here and be cute and just be dead wrong.
The perfect video as Im sitting here greasing my scalp before bed. The products definitely matter. One day I'll be able to purchase from you again because I definitely notice the difference. I, too, am wearing my hair in layers due to it breaking off after dealing with the trauma of my mom and sister dying. My hair used to be high porosity, now its low porosity. Do you mind sharing a video of some good products for low porosity hair? My hair texture is 3A at the crown and 3B on the rest of my hair.
The thing with my hair is the front t would not grow for shit I did a big chop 4 years ago and my hair grew like crazy but then it keeps breaking off when I tried to make it grow longer, my hair was in braids under a wig for 4 weeks I took it out yesterday and I lost so much hair I don’t understand but I was trying the Alma oil and idk if it’s that or because I’m taking vitamin d and zinc idk anymore
I think “co-wash” is a misnomer if the term is used to mean “washing” the hair with conditioner. Conditioners do not contain surfactants (detergents) and are therefore incapable of getting either the hair or the scalp clean. Therefore, I have dubbed this technique “co-rinsing” because that’s all it’s really doing. A real co-wash, also known and marketed as a conditioning cleanser, does contain surfactants and can cleanse the hair and scalp. Unlike shampoos, co-washes are gentler and do not lather or strip the hair of its natural oils.
@@ShawntasWay: Okay. So when *you* say co-wash, you actually mean bonafide, conditioning cleanser products. Most people mean “washing” their hair with conditioner when they use the term co-wash. For years I’ve used co-wash products and rarely use shampoos. I have had no problems. But I don’t wear wash-and-go’s or style my hair a lot. I mostly just keep it in plaits. I always use shampoo before flat ironing my hair, but that’s rare.
I had waist length hair ,after all the blowouts & products my hair died,I cut it off for a 3rd time & now its shoulder length,I only use water & olive oil. All these youtube hair hacks are nauseous.
Keep and eye on your products and use good quality products 👌🏾🙌🏾🫵🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Cuz natural hair products will have u all caught up with their promises and high prices with tiny bottles that DONT WORK for u. What works for Tina may not work for Brina and thats a fact.

Why do you stop co washing ?
Yeah, when you have a really good moisturizing shampoo you don't have a need for a co wash❤
By “co-wash”, do you mean “washing” your hair with conditioner or using an actual co-wash product aka conditioning cleanser?

Some certified hair chemists say that oiling the scalp clogs the pores. I think only if it's done in excess with thick oils.
