I have dealt with Alopecia Areata since 2015. It has been a wild ride but I've figured out how to manage it. While there is no cure, I have been managing it. This video is sharing my personal experience. I share the mental, emotional and financial impact of dealing with Alopecia. I researched alternative remedies and eventually developed a regimen involving supplements and a special growth oil. I was suffering from the same affliction. I went to two dermatologists, and the second one was a gem. She ran test and put me on a vitamin regimen. Vit D3, Iron (in the form of ferrous fumarate), Calcium and 500mg of Vit C. Lastly, and this maybe controversial, she suggested I no longer oil my scalp. One exception is I do hot oil treatments complete with scalp massage prior to shampooing. My hair started growing back nice and full. I also take 25mg of spironolactone. I use a moisturizing scalp serum(by the ordinary brand) if my scalp needs moisture. Im thrilled because honestly, the amount of shedding and balding frightened me, but now, you can't even tell it happened. I hope this helps someone 😊❤

My mom’s hair fell completely out all over her body about 20 years ago. It took a super hot Houston day in August 2020 for her to finally go outside bald. And she hasn’t gone back since. She actually doesn’t want hair ever again because of the expense she sees me and my sister have dealing with our hair. She said she’ll keep her cheap wigs, turbans and scarves while we spend at least $100/mo on hair and hair products. I don’t wish for baldness but I do wish for less expense. 😂😂😂

I had surgery in September 2023. I took my braids out the end of October and my hair came out in chunks.
My PCP said it was bc of the surgery. It should stop in 6-8 months. Six months later and it was still falling out. I went to other doctors and was told it could bc of braids or early onset menopause. 8 months later, it was still falling out, but not falling out as bad. It was growing fine, but it was shedding so badly. I haven't had braids since then. I don't feel that the braids caused it bc I wore them for 2.5yrs w/o issues.
I was telling a nurse friend what was going on, and she told me to take a prenatal vitamin, vitamin D w/magnesium & zinc, an iron supplement, meditateand pray. That's exactly what I did, and I've seen less hair fall in only 2 months. I'm praying for the density that I had to return and for growth to continue.

In my case, they don't seem to care. Keep looking for a dermatologist who does care. Don't let 10 years go by at which point they tell you you waited too long so there's nothing I can do now. I'm doing something about it myself now and God is at the top of my plan. They told me no help and as my mom always said there is a higher doctor than you . I'm starting to see growth, praise the Lord🙏🙌

This video is super helpful and inspiring. I don’t think I’m dealing with alopecia, but I’m definitely dealing with some hair loss issues that have been a little stressful. It’s inspiring to know you were able to overcome your hair loss and regrow your hair. I saw a few other UA-camrs that also spoke of going to God and praying for their hair, which I love. OMG I HAD TO GET ON BIRTH CONTROL AT A REALLY YOUNG AGE BECAUSE OF MY PERIOD IS SO TERRIBLE THAT IS WHEN ALL MY HAIR STARTED FALLING OUT AND THE STRUGGLE HAS BEEN REAL. The same thing happen to me. I too went to the doctors, yes more then one. 2 dermatologists n a neurologist. I was EXTREMELY deficient in Vitamin B. I took Vit B injections for 6 weeks. Also found that I couldn’t use any hair products with coconut oil.

Ooooh cuz, did you go back to the drs that said you were doomed? My petty self would have gone back & shown them to see what they'd say🙈. On a serious note, many of our health issues can be reversed with lifestyle/diet change. So happy you found a regimen that worked for you.

Thank you for this. The reminders and the tips are more beneficial than you can guess. I've been battling scarring alopecia. I've got hair on my head that wasn't there before. My focus has been strengthening the areas that don't grow like the rest. I have called it a "landing strip", too.

Thank you for your video. I am an RN but I am experiencing the same thing but my diagnosis is Discoid Lupus and I too always had hair in my back was known for my hair. I am doing the supplements and I was doing the rosemary oil and peppermint oil. What you said is key to get the immune system straight and that is where I am where I need to see a rheumatologist because I had the cortisone shot and I haven’t done it again even a biopsy was done. Jesus is my Lord and personal savior and just like I heard within my oldest daughter was hyperthyroid I got upset and just as quick I heard don’t get upset it’s temporary and it was after a few years of levothyroxine she is euthyroid..normal thyroid function praise God. I haven’t cried I was thinking what am I going to do if all my hair falls out. I heard that voice within..the hair will be restored so that is what I am holding on to. Good size upper top of my hair and 3 smaller ones that thank God are hidden. Again thank you for sharing your experience…I would like to find a wig that looks realistic God continue to bless and heal you 😊

You confirmed that birth control flipped the alopecia switch for me because I have the same narrative always had a head full of hair got depo after a miscarriage (the thought of having another miscarriage terrified me) and right before it was time for my next dose of depo I found a half dollar coin sized bald spot
