The attitudes in crowbcats comments slowly shifting to negative in favor of soulless modern gaming indicates to me that the great games like RE4 original are mostly things of the past Very curious what crowbcats favorite game of the last 5 years or so is
Crow you need to understand this has nothing to do with the video. You just have to accept there are people on the internet who's lives are empty they associate their identity with a product. It cannot be criticized, they cannot handle anything other than relentless affirmation.
The point is that you shouldn't have to pay extra money for things that should be in the game. Even with the classic soundtrack many tracks are missing and serenity still doesn't play unless you're actually in the merchants menu. It used to be so calming in og having that track play when you're near the merchant. Hopefully they fix it with a patch.
That's what government agencies like the CIA or the secret services train your mindset to be, that's why og Leon is more accurate than the broody PTSD remake Leon. It isn't that og Leon has not PTSD, he was simply trained to hide it, to remain focused on his missions. He uses humor as a coping mechanism to not get overwhelmed just so he can continue to have everything under control. That's why he often allows himself to chill and joke with the villains, cause he knows that if he pisses them off, they'll eventually make mistakes, making his mission easier. And that's why in the og Ada calls Leon a genius. The remake developers didn't really understand Leon's character, so they just made another Chris Redfield "all serious average hero type" character and gave him a few of his og one liners just to make old fans happy despite the fact that they aren't delivered half as good as they were in the og.
But it's not realistic for a survival horror situation. The feelings of helplessness and hopelessness are an important factor for horror to increase tension and anxiety. I gauss you don't watch horror movies?
Game design hasn’t hardly changed in the last 20 years. All they have no is more polygons and better resolutions. We’re seeing now that the PS2 generation was absolutely stacked with brilliance, and games today rarely stack up.
Given how the rest of the games are, I wouldn't be surprised if that was a hint that all of RE4 is in Leon's head. Leon is in fact past out the whole time while occasionally muttering "Over here stranger! Got something that might interest ya. Heh! Heh! Heh!".
One little detail I remember is the permanent scar on Leon's cheek after the first attack from Krauser when he jumps from the ceiling and cuts Leon's face. Will always love the OG.
@@MrCaptainTeaRe 4 remake is better in their Lore. Revenge makes more sense than jealousy. Krauser wants revenge against the government, not jealous of Leon
Serenity is now merchant theme, just stay in the first merchant's menu and you'll listen to it. Ada's version remembers me of the OG one. I think it's great tho, because it helps me with anxiety.
@@shimik11 It's not stiff, it's very smooth and snappy, you just don't like it cause it doesn't play like everything else nowadays. (The remake is sick btw)
@@TheFuryLz Stiff isn't the right word. It just hasn't aged well, it's completely dated and I think it's fine to acknowledge that. Especially considering that game more or less pioneered the third person shooter as we know it today, but yeah I wouldn't want to deal with that kind of a control scheme in 2023. The gameplay is the biggest reason imo why Dead Space 1 has aged beautifully while RE4, not quite as much.
@@nicholasdavidson1191 ye i'd rather play a game with less visual fidelity if it's more immersive. I'd even play at lower res, better performance is an added bonus.

Notice how we all remember the original games iconic lines like "writhe in my cage of torment" "your right hand comes off?" "heh, not fallin for that old trick" "Sadler, you're small time" "oh mr. Kennedy, you seem to think this is a cliche in one of your Hollywood movies..." Yet there's not a single line in the remake that is memorable
@@SeriousDragonifystory of my life is a line they changed in the remake because in the og leon said "women☕️" and that was considered offensive, so yeah that was a downgrade. And the where's everyone going, Bingo? Is a line from the original that they keot in the remake so that doesn't count as a memorable remake line
What made the Del Lago secret death animation so terrifying in OG RE4 is that it happened in REAL TIME in game. The game didn’t freeze for a split second for the script to go through or anything, no loading screen, it just killed you right there. I remember first doing that years ago and I felt my soul almost rip out of my body lmao. The loud roar, the huge splash of water, the big CHOMP, so unforgettable.

Extraordinary??? What was extraordinary about it exactly? It's a bunch of stock sound effects with little to no mixing. You just think they're better because they sound louder in the video.
Does anyone feel like the graphics in the original, despite being in an older generation. Still looks apealing today? I mean it isnt photo realistic but it has a charm to it.
The graphics in the original worked together as a cohesive choice, lots of little details that still hold up. The sound design is still fantastic as well. I still remember my first time going through the hedge maze in the OG.
Yeah the og had that anime vibe to it that was really cool, I also prefered a lot more the old characters models especially for Leon and Ada, Leon looked more buff and more mature whereas in the remake they just gave him big arms and made his hair longer for the rest he looks skinny and identical to Re 2 remake when he was just 21, so too young and his voice actor also doesn't help to make Leon sond older, and Ada looked taller, sexier and a lot more intriguing in the og compared to the remake, remake RE 2 was actually a lot more faithful to the og RE 2 characters' design compared to remake 4 with og RE 4's characters.
@@joedatius I wasn't a kid when I've played RE4, that jumpscare was better than the one from the remake and I say that as someone that actually likes this new game.
There's like a delay in that cutscene that just says "GET READY TO BE SPOOKED". It would had been better off for it just being the player's point of view.
It’s quite amazing how well the original holds up. I thought most of my memory of the visuals were just nostalgia, but seeing this made me realize how it looked better than many of the games of the proceeding generation. Truly a landmark in gaming history.
You should see how well it holds up with the HD Texture pack. I think most importantly it holds up even better gameplay wise though. IMO it's significantly more fun and more responsive even though you can't move while shooting.
Because the core gameplay of Resident Evil 4 OG is still the standards in modern 3rd person shooter games, minus a few things like quick weapon swap and the ability to move while aiming. It's the first game that got it right. I just finished the Remake and honestly it was very good, and the core gameplay was more or less the same as the OG.
Not to mention it came out around the time of Halo 2, Half Life 2, Metroid Prime 2, Doom 3, Metal Gear Solid 3, GTA San Andreas, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and God of War just to name a few and still beat most of the them and was able to be equal to Half Life 2 and narrowly beating Halo 2 and San Andreas in my opinion. The only competition this remake has is Dead Space Remake, Baldurs Gate 3 and Elden Ring which are good games but not as good as the ones from 2004, 2005. Plus the remake could never beat the original because it needs the original in the first place as the basis.
@@ROCKSTAR3291people are complaining about the changes in the remake, but honestly I like the new direction and the consistency of the remakes. The original was fun and charming, but much like most games of that era, it was goofy, and the videogame medium is trying to move forward with its quality of writing/acting/cinematography/etc. During the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era, developers were walking into uncharted territory and they were clearly winging it.....Take Kojima for example. You can clearly see the growth he's gone through since his first MGS on PS1. He learned a lot throughout his journey and it shows....Remakes are supposed to be a refinement of the original, we can't expect them to retain the same corniness that was due to inexperience, no matter how fond of it we are!
The original had a special kind of charm and spirit and its own art form, and I think Shinji Mikami's directing techniques really helped execute all of the ideas nicely.
@@barryberger9889 that means he did not have a problem with that... the art direction is just preference, not fact and maybe he did aprecciate from a developer point of view how much effort is present in this new remake with all the other good things it has.
The sound designer in RE4 OG, Yoshihiko Wada, made very sure to to make every sound in the game satisfying. He went out of his way to make every gunshot sound cool, and even make both of Leon's individual footsteps sound unique based on what surface each is walking on. The man had insane talent and passion. The remake, while I still think is fantastic, absolutely lacks in sound design in comparison.
What makes a great survival horror game is its sound design, atmosphere, tension and attention to detail. Its like what the dead space director Glen Schofield said about dead space, It has more impact. The cutscene and facial animations were much better in the original. That is one of the things that makes the remake soulless. The cutscenes and facial animations even the choreography was better in the original. Voice acting is great overall in both games, except Ada’s Voice Actor is horrible for anyone who has acting experience they would know.
This was definitely churned out for a quick buck compared to the love the original had. It's still good, but that's only because the original was amazing.
@@unploog If creating and releasing a universally and critically acclaimed remake for a universally and critically acclaimed game is considered churning out a quick buck, I would love to know what you consider to be the fruit of labor and hard work.
How did the genuinely flanderise Saddler? Every word out of his mouth is about the cult when in the original it felt like he was the leader of the cult while also being a person that could exist.
I love how in RE, they use music to make the player feel a sense of relief and safety. Just hearing the safe room music makes you feel a massive sense of assurance. It gets imprinted onto the player throughout the game because you go from high stress situations to suddenly being safe from all the danger. In RE4 the music when you approach the merchant area 5:16 becomes a kind of therapy. When you hear that music you know you can take a breather, upgrade yourself to be stronger, take some time to construct your jewels and use your money in safety. Ever since RE1, safe room music is an iconic part of the RE experience.
Yes I noticed that I missed that soundtrack so much 😢 it really is a relief feeling to clear your head and check your inventory money what upgrades I really do miss the original soundtrack
I don't know why they took away the music and animation. It really feels like they poured their heart into the original, only a sliver of that remains in the remake, even if it is a good game.
You are so right about the save room music and the music in general. Especially when you play Code Veronica, one of the best save room music tracks of all time. So disappointed when I did not hear the "Serenity" track in the remake.😔
Save room themes were definitely areas where the original RE2 and RE4 surpassed their remakes, in my opinion. Especially since RE2/RE4 had absolutely phenomenal themes for their safe rooms.
I miss Leons dumbass quirks The best part is that in-universe his one-liners are considered cringe (Hunnigan's reactions to Leon confirm this) while on the other hand; his jokes are played off/appreciated by the over-the-top villains

I’ll always admire any media in horror that manages to be even more eerie in the daylight or is just brighter than it’s counterpart dark/night scenario.
It's constantly dark in these remakes because it looks more dramatic (dark/light contrast) and so they can show off their fancy new lighting tech. But it misses the point. It loses character and frankly the ability to, you know, see the fucking environment.
the thing that hurts me a bit is that these extremely noticeable ambient sounds aren't in the remake, they made the atmosphere in the OG version incredibly unique. the remake just does them way more subtle, which makes the game feel a bit different in comparison. also, obviously the soundtrack is nowhere near as good. I liked the remake a lot but the original just has a special place.

One thing that I miss that's hardly included in modern RE titles are the flavor texts when you inspect something. There are a few that are auto triggered with voice lines but just not enough as the older games.
@tnebroso666🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️actually, freezing the screen and having the text on screen while inspecting or checking something like a cup or a window or a shelf or locked door really adds immersion to the game. True, especially in Resident evil games. The old games looked good because they were extremely artistic with what they had. Whereas modern RE games (while i still love them) try to take a more realistic look and esthetic which overall diminishes the original appeal.
that's because they are. what you are saying is objective and no just some opinion. all art direction was designed to cater to smaller hardcore playerbases so there was never a true need for "minimalism"/blandness. all of this bland, modern, minimalistic UIs we see in games nowadays are designed to appeal to the new type of customer that has entered the fray: the average joe consumer who has a house, kids, and a job. they make lots of money 🤑🤑🤑 but have soo little time ☹. welp, as a consequence for gaming becoming too popular and mainstream all of these devs now cater to the average joe. now every game is just meh, average, stale, bland BECAUSE the average joe is... average. if you add more flare... oh no... that = more COMPLEX, and we no like complexity anymore since that might confuse our new better paying customers!!! that mean less $$$ in refvenue since average joe only wants simple games to play; he has no time to sit and learn complex mechanics or look at more stylized UI. stylized UI means more CONFUSION!!! we need """"visual clarity"""" ah yes yes. now let the money rack itself in 💰💸💰 so yeah developers actually found a reason to justify laziness, and lack of attention to detail.

Here's my question. Why can't modern games have BOTH the heavy ambient sound and weather AND the high fidelity graphics? It's almost always one or the other. I'm not a fan of photo-realistic visuals in non-realistic games anyways but why does every single aspect of the sound and music have to be toned down just because of higher fidelity? Exaggerating some effects for atmosphere's sake is not going to trash anybody's immersion, especially in a sci-fi action-horror game.
@@TheNwahDango that's too much effort my friend, you see back then devs had the "this could be our last game" mentality now its all about pretty graphics and movie style cutscenes
It's so weird to see that the increased attention to visual fidelity hasn't added nearly as much to the game as I would expect. The ambient music, the typewriter printing out your save, everything characterizes not just the narrative but the game in a unique way. Such a beautiful small detail like that is one that I haven't even thought of but it is a small part of what makes a game genuinely unique.
The new technology also adds depth, and warmth to lighting. In the remake, fire actually looks like fire and not a gif. With full color and everything. @Dave Nah they do. I worked at a AAA game company prior to the pandemic and we had an entire department focused solely on that. I think the lack of ambiance noise and such is actually due to HAVING a dedicated department. Much less likely to use stock sound effects or sound to fill empty space, which is what a lot of this really cool background sound is.
One of my main issues I had with the remake is how Saddler and Salazar got shafted. In the original, the back and forth between Leon over the intercoms with these characters was golden and helped build character, making the final fights more climatic. Salazar and Saddler hardly appear in the remake.
You can’t even say it’s because of the tone, because Salazar DOES say his dialogue, just really rushed and done poorly. Sadler is still a cheesy villain but what little there was of his dialogue in the remake was boring.
On that same token, they gave a lot more characterization to Ashley and especially Luis in the remake. In the original, Ashley wasn't as fleshed out and Luis was barely in the game. So it's a fair tradeoff, even if we lost something good.
In the original the wind whistling in some parts of the village section is absolutely iconic to me. They need a mod that adds the old sounds and music to the remake

The remake of resident evil 4 is very good but the classic shows that it can still be playable but both managed to keep something that nowadays is difficult in games, the desire to play again and be fun.
true, same with left 4 dead 2... been yearning to play it again... og re4 has it's charm (minus ashley) but rem4ke improved her alongside luis... sadly ada didn't make it... guess there's no perfect games... even dead space... but yeah... he should have compared dead space
Yeah saying the OG RE4 had no replay yet it was released on Cube, PS2, Wii, 360, PS3,PS4, Xbox one, switch. The remake won't have that longevity but keep lying to yourselves.
@@hehuho890 Dead Space remake isn't prerfect? I mean, if changing Issac from being a silent protagonist (Which it could've worked if it wasn't for the fact that characters asked his opinion or asked him questions and he didn't reply to anything, unlike Half-Life, Bioshock, and even Doom 3 having silent protagonist made sense, becouse the characters in those games were just given orders) just that alone makes it perfect
This video really showcases the little details in the original. 30:08 in the original Sadler's tendrils interact with the floor instead of just clipping like in the remake, thats really cool.
Around 31 minutes in the video Ada jumps off the platform and into a helicopter (unseen).... in reality she should have died because she jumped into spinning blades hahaha
@@Wickedonezz yeah? Tell me how because she clearly jumping down and then the helicopter immediately came up and the gap between her and heli is probably not enough for her to jump down pass the heli and grapple hook it up.

Wish they did more with the ui in this game than anything else, some detail the game could go without but I think it could of sustained some more of the originals charm with the typewriter saves and the onscreen healthbar
i agree for sure, more photogrammetry in the ui would be nice (Photogrammetry is the art and science of extracting 3D information from photographs. taken from google. would be nice if the word wasnt 14 CHARACTERS LONG!!)
@@GM-xk1nw as much as you're trying to sound like an ass ui is very important to game's vibes because you are literally going to see the ui throughout the whole game. UI that doesnt match the vibe of the game can somewhat sour the experience, the remake's ui is too clean and minimal which there is nothing wrong with but you can achieve a dirty gritty and minimal ui at the same time, good ui doesnt usually get noticed but bad ui stands out having said that i appreciate the colour palette (more purple darkish) and the artstyle however as a sidenote the removal of the vibey chill soundtrack for an action generic movie soundtrack killed the vibes so it isnt just the UI
What really annoyed me is 21:17 where in the original you save yourself and shoot the sound reciever so then Ramon sends the chad to kill you. 1. It's just badass points to Leon 2.Explains why that monster is after you In the remake you make it down and he's just there and that just looks like an oversight when recreating the scene and rubs me the wrong way, as well as just needing to press O to dodge all the surprise attacks unlike the original where you it was 2 different inputs to dodge different attacks so you had to lock in instead of just mashing dodge and not stressing.
@@Fab1us I know right. Aside from that though, there's just so much to be said about everything wrong with the RE4 remake as a game. I went into it willing to accpet that it could be an improvement. As much as I love the original, it is an action game and there's always a good way to improve mechanics for action games, among other aspects. But they just got it completely wrong in every way. Even without comparison to the original, it is one of the worst games I've ever played in my life. I'd rather play RE6 than this. All the positive review scores shows there's no hope for games journalism either. Only a shill would say this remake was good, let alone a masterpiece.
My first thought when I saw the new one is that I've seen rooms with the exact same colors/lighting in a billion other horror games. A lot of people have the misconception that dark=creepy, like something can only be scary if you can't see shit.
I think the original version where Regenerators were hanging in the open made for way more suspense than a couple of bags with one regenerator in them.
@@JuliusCaesar103 The bags are creepier because you don't know what's in them and you don't know which one has it the first time. It's also a nice "oh shit" moment the first time you use the biosensor on them. Remake nailed it so well.
Regenerators were the one thing I was most surprised they managed to retain that emotional response. OG Regenerators were easy to see and easy to hear, with an unnerving theme and anxiety inducing wheeze. But it always amounted to just backpedaling as I pot shot them. New Regeneradors hang out in dark rooms, with their stark eyes now standing out. The lack of theme punctuates your first meeting in rooms lacking power or lighting, but they retain their signature wheezing, which cuts through the silence like a knife. And to make matters worse, they no longer lumber at you, they will walk a brisk but purposeful pace and really pressure you to act.
In the original the battle was also against the controls. You couldnt shoot while moving. So i suppose that part of the tension was also trying to navigate the area and positioning in the right place to shoot.
The new regenerator is still creepy as hell. The fucker almost gave me a heart attack after he ran toward me which is something I was not expecting, and also the new range grab.
@@Firey_Games bro, they suck, they ruined the design, I haven't played the remake, but if they removed their theme (one of the best in the game) it totally sucks
One of the first things I noticed were the end of chapter screens… like come on man. I loved the character portraits being there and to replace them with a literal black screen and a tiny box for text?? Not a fan but I could be in the minority on that one
I agree, they could've at least add the characters relevant to the chapter on screen, just slightly darkened by the fog; but they went to the serious, boring route a bit too hard.
The remake is packed to the brim with one-liners, but they kind of begin to contrast with the rest of remake's aestetical shifts. The og was balanced in that aspect with just the right overall level of hammy
@@cultistaautista The one liners are mostly during in-game gameplay and don't really land. The voice actor can't play it off well enough and the writing is bad
The darkness is the problem, or rather an attempt at obfuscating the problem. The original was bright and you could see detail and color in everything. The remake makes certain spots dark to avoid making them detailed and interesting. It's a common tactic in game development. Not saying that games can't be dark, especially horror games, but RE4 is much more action than it is horror, and when the original had such insane attention to detail it does feel like something was taken away.
@@TheRaon75 This is the issue right here. Too be honest the only reason RE4 was tone down dark was too make it more "scary" and I guess it does work but everything else takes a hit
@@TheRaon75 You are absolutely out of your gourd crazy if you think the remake is using darkness to hide a lack of detail. You just need to look at literally ANY environment in the game to know that it's insane to say that. The amount of work that Capcom's art team has put into all of the remakes, including RE7 and RE8, is second to none. You would be very hard-pressed to find other games that come anywhere close.
It's the difference in storytelling, most of it is visual in new one because it can be nowadays with superior graphics. Old one used music and sound to set the tone because it couldn't do too much with the graphics quality available.
The difference in sound design is absolutely shocking, it's a reminder of how important ambient sound is. I'm positive someone will make a mod incorporating better sound design into REmake 4
You are confusing good sound design with the prominence of ambient noise. The remake has incredible sound design, as all the RE engine games have had. The original merely has more ambient effects which make it more atmospheric. That alone does not encompass "sound design"
i have been complaining about atmosphere in video games for like a decade now.. most games don't even use simple fog effects to set a tone. modern game design is pathetic. it's clearly a job for most people, and not something they truly enjoy doing.
@@n9ne Well then you are in luck. If you take a look at the point in the video where he compares the lightning effects through a window in the insignia hall, you can clearly see fog effects near the altar in the remake.
That's facts. My neighbor had the first RE for Gamecube and I had it for PS one. That was easily the most incredibly rendered videogame I have ever seen till this day.
i was always so impressed by the resident evil gamecube games. Always made me wonder why GCN titles were usually cartoonish low-poly art styles when it could clearly handle graphics like these
new ada voice sounds like the lines were all recorded on a video call and then cleaned up by some audio engineer to make them at least somewhat passable

@@Ownage4lif31 that's totally fine. I also agree the voice is good. But it just doesn't suits her. She sounds bland and not mysterious, seductive, sassy. Overall she is a good actor but not a good VA
Yeah, the original was both a fan of and made fun off goofy action flims of the 2000s and b movies of the 60s and 70s, while also somehow being both and genuinely great horror too

I played original when it came out. we moved on from retro style at the right time. you're just getting old and nostalgic and it's fine I guess. also as other comments saying "the original had more goofiness". you can find it in remake too like Leon stopping Chainsaw with his knife or when he can stun one ganado and kick all 5 ganados.

I really missed Leon's quirky one-liners and the banter between him, Salazar, and Sadler. In the original, the cheesy lines work because he's trying to be cool, and the confidence sells it. In the remake, it feels self-aware, like Leon is just being corny for the sake of it.
@@TurboLight While that may be the case, Leon is definitely confident even in these tense situations. Like, he's definitely scared for his life, but at the same time he knows what he's doing and knows how to get shit done. The original sells that feeling a lot better.
@@charlottecorday8494 that is indeed the truth. Leon does not flirt with anyone because it was adjusted to "modern sensibilities". I'm mostly sure they spoke about that in an interview.

Leon's unusually flat after having a bang-up delivery in 2 remake. The poo is on the floor and we have to step in it and not acknowledge it.
Old videogames have a highly compressed dynamic range audio because they were made for small CRT TV speakers. Love how chill Leon is in the OG, not exactly nonchalant but confident that nothing will go wrong and he will find a way
They ruined it
That's what government agencies like the CIA or the secret services train your mindset to be, that's why og Leon is more accurate than the broody PTSD remake Leon.

Edit
I forgot to mention that removing the cutscene where Las Plagas controls Leon to choke Ada ruins some foreshadowing. Earlier, Leon says to Ada, "Better advice: Try using knives next time. Works better for close encounters." Then much later in the game when he chokes her, this results in her using her knife to get him off of her.
The cutscene direction overall in Remake just falls flat half the time. Even with the dated graphics from 2005, the original has great cinematic direction. The camera work is honestly inspiring. It's a shame they didn't translate it over to the newer game.
@@cepheus3d i don't agree, there are some amazing cutscenes in the remake, aspecially some fight scenes are filmed so well and every scene feels different from the other.

It seems that in times when technology for games and movies were more limited, studios were more committed to dialogues and investing in sound effects to create environments. The remake of resident evil 4 is very good but the classic shows that it can still be playable but both managed to keep something that nowadays is difficult in games, the desire to play again and be fun.

Wish they did more with the ui in this game than anything else, some detail the game could go without but I think it could of sustained some more of the originals charm with the typewriter saves and the onscreen healthbar
i agree for sure, more photogrammetry in the ui would be nice
(Photogrammetry is the art and science of extracting 3D information from photographs. taken from google. would be nice if the word wasnt 14 CHARACTERS LONG!!)
@@GM-xk1nw but tbh, the old ui is kinda charming, while the remake is just you know, regular ui, there's no aesthetic in it
Onscreen health bar? Personally, I like seeing as much as the gameplay as possible, so I definitely liked the direction they went.

@@GM-xk1nw as much as you're trying to sound like an ass ui is very important to

the whole game. UI that doesnt match the vibe of the game can somewhat sour the experience, the remake's ui is too clean and minimal which there is nothing wrong with but you can achieve a dirty gritty and minimal ui at the same time, good ui doesnt usually get noticed but bad ui stands out
having said that i appreciate the colour palette (more purple darkish) and the artstyle however as a sidenote the removal of the vibey chill soundtrack for an action generic movie soundtrack killed the vibes so it isnt just the UI
The old Ada got charisma
Honestly I think she simply got better voice acting in original
Better voice acting, scenes, dialogues.
The acting for Ada is better in the original but the writing for Ada is better in the remake.

What really annoyed me is 21:17 where in the original you save yourself and shoot the sound reciever so then Ramon sends the chad to kill you.
1. It's just badass points to Leon
2.Explains why that monster is after you
In the remake you make it down and he's just there and that just looks like an oversight when recreating the scene and rubs me the wrong way, as well as just needing to press O to dodge all the surprise attacks unlike the original where you it was 2 different inputs to dodge different attacks so you had to lock in instead of just mashing dodge and not stressing.
You cant have badass white character in modern games.
@@Fab1us I know right. Aside from that though, there's just so much to be said about everything wrong with the RE4 remake as a game. I went into it willing to accpet that it could be an improvement. I feel like the brightly lit freezer room was actually creepier than the dimly lit one.
Yess
My first thought when I saw the new one is that I've seen rooms with the exact same colors/lighting in a billion other horror games.
A lot of people have the misconception that dark=creepy, like something can only be scary if you can't see shit.
Crowbcat when the fridge lighting is different be like: "SOULESS"
Or in other words, they totally suck 👍🏻
In the original the battle was also against the controls. You couldnt shoot while moving. So i suppose that part of the tension was also trying to navigate the area and positioning in the right place to shoot.
@@fioredeutchmark how?
The new regenerator is still creepy as hell. The fucker almost gave me a heart attack after he ran toward me which is something I was not expecting, and also the new range grab.

Ye true man they even coulda used the concept art which instead is just some useless unlock-able bonus thing.
Nice Biden reference.

@@ΑναστάσιοςΠαπαζαχαρίου

The new environments really arent that bad, they’re just darker. But the sound/ambience and cutscenes definitely took a hit
They're not just darker, they have no atmosphere. You have to have a soul to see the difference though
Another thing that REmake4 does better is range. You can tell where around you and how far something is in full clarity.
