Being 18 during this time was the best! No Regrets!!!!
Well said
The crowd is unruly is an understatement, they used to have riots all the time . Riots
That deep contrast was Axl too! He's known to have one of the greatest vocal ranges of all time. His voice was a deep baritone when he talked but he could scream really high pitched.
at least he used to
Axl had a five+ octave range in his prime. It was insane. Unfortunately, that Axl is no more. 😢
Thanks for answering this, I was just about to say. All has a vocal range that no human should have. Legend
@@matthbva Axl is great.... no more
He WAS
Appetite for Destruction one of the best albums ever....one hit after another.
Not to mention that this was their DEBUT album after making it through the rough club scene in LA. It's been ranked as the best rock debut album EVER! And rightfully so.
Unfortunately, the sudden fame (and the drugs) went to Axl's head and made him a prima donna for a long while. You were never sure if or when GnR would take the stage at their concerts after the first album tour.
One of my top-10 favorite albums ever. (A list that is ever-changing and I can never really cull it down below 16 or 18 when I try to make a list, but this one is always up there.)
@@mikegoodwin2386 I'm just talking about the rock area ( I like other music too); but off the top of my head these are a few of my favorite albums....might not be the critics choices, but I'm not a critic........Boston (Boston); High Voltage (AC/DC); Doors (Doors); Apetite for Destuction (G n' R); Bon Jovi Slipery When Wet; Rainbow Rising; Aerosmith Toys in the Attic; Poison Open Up and say....ahh; KISS Love Gun
@@jeremiahrose4681 BOSTON, BACK IN BLACK (AC/DC), and APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION are definitely in my favorites. TOYS IN THE ATTIC and LOVE GUN would get honorable mention. Our rock tastes are similar.
@@mikegoodwin2386 Similar in that regard sure, but I grew up on 50's rock/rockabilly also and also like traditional country/outlaw country along with Southern Rock. So I'm all over the place. I hope this doesn't make you squirm, I told you some of my favorite albums in rock general. Here's my top artist/bands all time, don't hate me, ready, Elvis, Hank Williams JR, KISS, Doors, Buddy Holly, James Ronnie Dio (anything ); 70's AC/DC....that's on he top of my head. See all over the place.
I saw them about 3 or 4 years ago. On the floor, row 5. Yeah, they still sound great and slash is still hot!
Never forget the day I was in Basic Training at Fort Benning. Just a peon private learning the basics when this Airborne Ranger drives up in his red Camaro blaring this song. Hoorah!!!
A group of boys did this song for a talent show during my 8th grade year 1992. By the way the crowd reacted and the girls acted you'd have thought it was actually GNR.
Seen GnR in concert in the late 80s...energy was OFF the charts!!
This entire album was so epic. At their peak they were up there with the greatest in my humble opinion.
The bass is so crazy in this song !
Axl was a great front man. Now he looks like he ate a lot of front men, but he still puts on a great show.
What an amazing band, should have lasted more ... Appetite for Destruction is rock history ...
would have if not for axl's ego LOL
GnR are amazing & they are doing great :) Yes, there have been line-up changes, but the band is still rocking & they still tour. Slash & Duff had returned to the band in 2016 & Adler was a guest star, in two of their shows.
@@cParman9 That... and everyone other than Axl was doing Heroin.
@@cParman9 axl's ego and his taste for herion. lol
Rock greatness have nothing to do with personal qualities of the persons, only with their talent and music art.
In the beginning, all of the harmony parts were done by Axl. There are four parts, and they're all double-tracked, so it gives a broad, extensive, choir-like stereo sound. His range goes as low as Bb6 to as high as F1 (across five octaves and five semitones). Needless to say, he can do a lot with it in the recording studio. And yes, they all have tattoos.
The Guns N Roses stadium tours back in the day were epic. I went to a few and was amazed each and every time.
I saw Soundgarden open for them back in the day..
@@bpschmidt4707 and Faith No More
@@steffenweidlich8698 and Skid Row and NIN…
@@steffenweidlich8698 Man, I'm so jealous! FNM is one of my all time faves, as is Soundgarden
This takes me back alright!
To being 16 and this being played all over the place and no wonder!
Ok now we getting somewhere. I remember the summer this hit. I saw them live that summer. INSANITY.
Slash is a god on this album. The composition, the restraint, the performance. Amazing.
Guns n Roses was such a huge inspiration for me when learning to play bass and today my sound and play style reminds me alot of Duffs. If you like this you should check out Velveteen Queen, a young band from Sweden bringing back the classic 80s and 90s rock
Oh Lord….my high school days. This is Awesome 😊
This song was VERY POPULAR in Paradise CA. As you can imagine.
This is one of my favorite songs to just jam to while driving down the road with the windows down with the volume all the way up.
if you looked up "80's" in the dictionary, it would just say Guns N Roses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were everything 80's! The hair, clothes, and NOISE lol
I'm not a patrion, but I love your reactions to music! You are pure in your thoughts. Keep going girl!
That deep voice is Axl too. He HAD such a great range!
Paradise City likely refers to Lafayette, Indiana, the hometown of Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin. However, the song overall is more about Rose's memories of growing up in the Midwest being innocent and full of hope vs the harsh reality of living in a city or being on the streets. Hence "Paradise City" (his innocence) is "so far away" (in the past).
Where did you get that? Slash writes in his book that they were coming back to LA from Seattle and the car kept breaking down. And Axl got sounded up that he screamed "Take me home" and they started singing the chorus over and over. And that turned into the song.
@@jomojojo6603 I've edited my comment to read "likely". While Slash's story is probably true, it takes a lot of time and work to go from riffing lyrics in the car to a complete song. The truth is no one from the band has ever said explicitly where Paradise City is, but the fact that Rose and Stradlin are both from Lafayette and a lot of the lyrics are nostalgia based is well known.
@@cmlemmus494 I can't disagree. However, I think LA has more pretty girls than Lafayette 🤪
TBH, back when the album came out, the rumor was that Paradise City was a part of a woman's body. So ..who knows?
Absolutely wrong. Paradise City was written about Los Angeles.
@@stevelarson3391 ummm... that's what I said
Britt, I always enjoy your reactions. GNR's masterpiece is November Rain. Plus you can see Slash's face.😂
They have such an AMAZING range of energy songs.
The old Giant Stadium. I saw many games there; soccer and some football. Brings back old memories of my youth.
Loved Slash since I was 12
Paradise city is Bloomington, Indiana where Axel rose and his family would go for family vacation , Axel rose grew up in Lafayette Indiana
This album came out when I was in middle school. I remember blasting this on a boombox while we were shooting hoops and skateboarding. 😂
This is a classic song. If Axl had behaved and the band stayed together they would have been untouchable...
The dirty little secret of GnR was that the musical talent was entirely concentrated in Slash and Izzy, and the moment Izzy walked it was over because Slash was too fucked up to keep Axl's ego and utter lack of talent from destroying the band.
@@jawbone78 Yeah.
Anyone who thinks Axl has an utter lack of talent knows nothing about singing. Izzy was the best songwriter in the group before he left and that was the biggest hit they took when they broke up, but Axl being talentless is something a hater would say. Adler was the original break in the group, he was too into heroin to play and it unraveled from there. One last thing, Axl is considered the petty one but he Duff and Slash have been back together for like four or five years doing world wide tours while petty ass Izzy is here in Indiana literally writing songs about getting a tooth pulled. All hail to Izzy right guys?? You can look that up at Guns N Roses Central if you’re wondering where I heard that.
@@justinpitcock5312 Izzy is great but he don't like the spotlight, he wasted his talent
@@marinadiamondz I agree!!
november Rain one of the best songs of guns n roses and solos of slash love that song
This is probably one of my favorite GNR song such fun times back then, I miss my long hair days it was down to my waist.🎸
Little touches make great songs--the school yard whistle at 1:56
Not only does it fit; it signals its time to let loose, let the kids out. Time to rock.
The colorized parts were filmed at the old Giants Stadium in NJ. I was lucky enough to attend this show. You can see me in that quick panning shot of the upper deck. Haha. They were supporting Deep Purple and Aerosmith. It was pretty epic day. It was not very common to have a stadium like this packed with people to see an opening act. That’s just how big these guys were at the time. Great reaction!
Yes!! More GNR please. Great reaction!! 🙂
GNR November rain is a must
“It sounded like it was speeding up.”
Me, knowing the breakdown is coming: 😏
Fun Fact - Queen is Axl Rose’s favorite rock band!! Axl performs with Queen the pop song WE WILL ROCK YOU at The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992. And, performs with Elton John Queen’s BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY! My mom absolutely loved Axl Rose as a vocalist! You should do NOVEMBER RAIN by Guns n Roses 🌹
I've seen them twice in St. Louis,,,,,, both concerts kicked ass,,,, lot going on with this song,,, your right,,,, good choice Britt
Listen to it live. He sounds like a demon, having a bad day. Bad ass.
I didn't see anyone mentioning this in the comments but the original lyrics to the chorus we're
"Take me down to the paradise city we're the grass is _free_ and the girls are pretty"
But they changed it for obvious reasons
Sorry if my english is bad but it's not my main language
Peace and love from Finland 💙🤍
I don't think that's true. I know Slash tried to change the lyrics in the chorus but was vetoed.
Possibly the greatest rock n roll song ever written. It is that good. And GNR is definitely among the greatest rock bands ever.
This song is my childhood song. I born in the 80s. That time don't have techno or rap song. The rock and roll is the best that time.
Not sure how many GNR songs you heard but welcome to the jungle and civil war are two good ones to check out.
Civil War is definitely worth a listen. It doesn't get near as much attention because it's...different....but the lyrics are amazing.
Civil War is one of my favorite GnR songs.
I remember when this album came out. I was in college. The first single was "Welcome to the Jungle". I was driving and heard it on the radio and almost crashed my truck. I stopped and bought the CD and played it for my roommates. We were THRILLED that we had something to listen to besides hair-metal. Between GnR and Metallica, that was the playlist in our apartment.
I had the exact same experience. LOL I was also in college, hear it on the radio, almost crashed my car, and bought it. LOL
@@dancrabbe6423 And GnR was several YEARS before grunge. GnR was the killer of "hair metal". Not grunge. GnR was "radio friendly" as opposed to groups like Metallica , Anthrax, etc. that you could only hear on college radio stations, back then. You couldn't hear, "Master of Puppets" on the radio, back then. You COULD (and did) hear Guns n Roses.
Sweet Child is an awesome ballad type song, and GnR have many others, but this is rocking GnR!
More GNR please. Might I suggest Mr. Brownstone or Rocket Queen.
That's Axl with the baritone, overdubbed of course
You would look tough as hell in that jacket!
They wrote this song on the bus after doing a show in San Francisco going back to LA. I should know I’m a Bay Area native lol
I feel like Axl’s white leather jacket was inspired by Freddie Mercury’s yellow leather jacket from the 1986 Magic Tour, similar cut
Britt you need to react to
Steelheart "I'll Never Let You Go "
Yeah, Alright. I like what you doing. Come on this is what true classic Rock & Roll is about. Tell me don't you feel SOMETHING!!!
Catch one in a million… yea real nuts.
That coliseum at the beginning is the late, great Giants Stadium, East Rutherford NJ. I’m not sure what the venue later on in England is; might be Wembley.
My favorite GnR song! Rocket Queen is my 2nd favorite.
November rain! November rain!!!
I'm a lifelong Guns fan, absolutely love them, it was hilarious seeing you react to them! I saw them in London last year, best day of my life
That's a non-stop assault on your brain! love it!
Taking the wife in Oct to see them her first time. I compromised same month she is taking me to see Pink. All in Vancouver British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦 😎
Favourite! This brings back my school to unit transition 😄 lots to take in 😂
The first stadium in the video is old Giants stadium where the New York Giants and the New York Jets played its in New Jersey.
Welcome to GNR girl. November rain is a masterpiece. Also the other side is 80s vands were known for having what we called power ballads. Check pit Patience you won't be disappointed with either
Yes!
They were great live in the old days
Welcome to the 80’s , they made us have hair like that.
Lol
This album came out my junior year of high school, fairly determinant even though I’m a country boy and love Hank, Mearle and Waylon.
WOW THAT'S IT!!!
Axl Rose is one of the five greatest male rick singerd of all time.
That's LA! Half that band moved there from the Midwest. Axl for sure. That's what they all thought LA was gonna be.
ONE VISION (Queen) live at Wembley 1986. Banger!
massive hit it was
Hey, Britt. Just wanted to give you a heads-up. Guns and Roses are on tour and will be in Texas in September.
This is what my children heard along with Metallica as toddlers. They developed their own preferences later as we all do but it is normal to hear them still rock out to what they grew up with. 😁
My mom treated me and my 5 childhood friends to this concert for my 30th birthday. Yeah my mom was really cool, miss ya mom!
That's a banger!!
Great reaction thanks 😘
i remember Eazy-E saying he wanted to do a song with them and N.w.a and call it thugs n roses thats why in concerts and videos u see axel wear the nwa hats back in the day. but it never happened the interview is around i just thought it was cool for axel to do that because rock n rap was such separate things back then.
Over 30 million copies of this album were sold.
That's Rock N Roll!! And I'm glad I was there too live it! 🤘🤘
Hope you at one point come to November rain, Patience, Civil War or Don't cry (alternative lyrics) that's the other side of G'n'R.
Fun fact I learned to play the 🥁 in Patience at the age of 3
All the frustration and vitality of youth.
Classic Rock
If you like great harmony you will love the group Band Maid and their song Alone
Your reaction videos are always priceless. Its refreshing to watch someone react to great music I enjoyed growing up. Keep on rockin'!
it's a fuggin jam.
The singer is AXL rose.
Saw them live in Dallas with Metallic.
Paradise City is Los Angeles. They wrote it in a van, traveling back to LA from a gig somewhere north of LA, in California.
Britt do yourself a favor & get their album Appetite For Destruction , this song comes from that. Its the best selling debut album from a rock band in history. Sweet Child O Mine was also on that album. You should do Welcome To The Jungle next. You might recognize it cause its played at alot of pro sporting events.
Third G'n'R song Britt, always luv your reactions to this classic band and Axl's vocals, stay beautiful 🤘❣️
Rock sensory overload can lead to a music induced coma! 😉♥
The concert footage in the video is where they played Giants Stadium, New York and Monsters of Rock at Donington Park 1988
"Is it getting faster, I thought it was getting faster?" .... oh you just wait. 🤣
Guns and Roses !!! 😃
FYI, Paradise city was created about Lake Geneva, WI. And this is due to the history they had with that city around the time they wrote this song.
Paradise City is the official name for the strip of Las Vegas!!
I saw GNR in 91, Skid Row opened. Honestly was one of the best concerts ever.
Great reaction Britt! GNR are iconic. I think Paradise City could even be where you’re from!!
That's Rock-N-Roll right there!!
