Dang, I wish I had seen this before delivering my last footage to a client! Lol. I shot an unplanned interview with just one camera but had redundant audio. The talent had to leave right after, and they stumbled a bit while speaking. I managed to cut it out, but it wasn’t my best work. This will be super helpful-thank you!
Using adjustment layer for jump looks like a quicker workflow than making cuts to the clip, and its easer to move around, shorten or lengthen, Good tip, glad i clicked..
I find everyone else's jump cuts look fine when I see them, but MINE look unprofessional. Loved the way you did the zoom in to the side instead, I just know MIIIIINE would look like I'd slipped up. Why is that? I like the slight zoom in, it's the technique I most often use, but you have some fantastic alternatives here. And I LOOOVE that you include the shortcuts, and dragging the effects between clips. I stopped watching it so I can watch at my PC later and take notes, this was that helpful.
Yoooo. That bulk audio crossfade is amazinggggg. I’m a mix engineer and I do this to songs I mix but how come I never thought about it with videos. Thanks a lot. Subscribed!
I've been editing the last year or two for a ski UA-cam page and figuring this stuff out. The audio transition shortcut is a great tip. I've seen tips about pulling the audio over each other, but you didn't mention that. Anyhow, love your stuff!
UA-camrs wouldn't know a jump cut if it jumped up and cut their nose off, they are just lazy editors who didn't want to spend the time to cover up voice edits. Jump cuts were originally by design (as is explained in the intro) however this annoying technique of not covering voice edits creeped in around the mid 2000's and is now the norm on UA-cam. Thank you for posting this to try and educate these newbies into how to edit smoothly.
Thanks. Excellent tips as usual. I use most of those and film a lot of b-roll. The motion blur tip is (FAV) one I'll definitely have to add. I tend to talk with my hands a lot too which can make jump cuts challenging🤪Gotta work on that.
Wow! My 1st time coming across your channel, Really love your way of explaining, and most of all a visual flash of the Keyboard shortcuts!!!! I wonder if you have a video about useful keyboard shortcuts!!
I love to watch your videos and remained subscriber even if I don't use Premiere Pro anymore! (thanks to Adobe customer support) This video was super helpful!
Great video ! I liked it with my two accounts! I knew most of those tips but it is always good to be reminded some of this stuff and learn new ideas or ways of doing things.
I recently switched to the Ray Microphone & Connect 2 Interface, I made a video about it here: ua-cam.com/video/KiafPFQhE5I/v-deo.htmlsi=KM-FdT8enw7HKaLe
@@PremiereGal I love it. big fan of Lewitt stuff.. I currently have the Rodecaster duo and at times feel like its over kill.. been researching back and forth the connect 2 and trying the Elgato stuff on my mac.. i know its not the most stable on mac though
Damn many youtubers could improve there videos a lot by watching this video. Super efficient without being rushed. Text book example on how to teach people practical skills and respect there time. You make it look easy but I am sure the video took a lot of afford to make. Thank you for making it.
Pro Tip: Just use a short morph cut transition and it's hidden well. I've been this technique for 6 years in multiple interviews and documentaries and it was never seen even once unless there's big difference in framing. for a better result use J & L cuts a few frames and it's 100% effective! instead your techniques are making the cut even more obvious! for Davinci users, there is a similar transition called "smooth cut" for AVID users there is "fluid morph" it all works the same. thank me later 😊
For audio volume changes in dialogue you really should be using a compressor plugin or whatever the equivalent in that software is. You set the compressor up once and it does everything for you throughout your entire dialogue. Having to manually adjust volume curves for dialogue is tedious and unnecessary.
I've been using multicam for the past year and it has made editing very tedious in premiere Pro. 😊 Going back to the source file to make a color change and the old sequence is missing. Although the thought of having to edit them individually like that sounds annoying as well.
What about the awesome morph cut in premier? Saved my bacon often when I didn't have b-roll and my footage wasn't shot at a high enough resolution to do zooms.
Is there like a “normal” level for a whoosh sound or something? By this I mean I have watched videos where the whooshes are all I hear and are super distracting. As a video editor, is there a specific volume level you put it at?? I’m totally new (to editing) but it really bothers me when people have videos where they not only have too many whooshes, but they’re loud and distracting. I would guess the sound effects should be less than the volume of the talking head but I could be wrong.
No one put baby in the corner... What happen to Morph Cut? Morph Cut is not for every occasion, but it is definitely a great effect that others should know about.
I'm having a problem. My Premiere Pro was working fine, but for some time now it has suddenly been lagging a lot and delaying all actions. It's the only program that behaves this way. I don't know why.
Jump cuts (on UA-cam) are not "a great way to cut out the fluff", it's an irritating lack of editing skill of content creators, that got "acceptable" these days. Some of them can't even form a sentence without 4 jump cuts in it.
Good god this is the stupidest video I've ever seen. When the most basic of all basic editing techniques is described as "pro" it's time to reevaluate what you think you're doing. Christ on a bike this is depressing.
Which creative technique was your fav? LMK!
I am surprised myself, but probably the motion blur with added graphics and sound effect. 🤔
I love working with brolls😂
The AI feature in Premiere Pro for jump cuts and cutting silence in between is awesome!
the motion blur is awesome, but when i tried it it didnt get nearly as blurry (even with the shutter angle on 360)
That blur technique on the SUBSCRIBE graphic with darkening of the background and back. So smooth. (Hiding Jump Cuts in Plain Sight)
This might be one of the most valuable videos on UA-cam for anyone making content. Cheers!
Including the shortcuts you use as you go is a brilliant extra touch. Super helpful video! Cheers
Another great video. Thanks so much.
Thank you for contributing to the goal of eradicating unnecessary jump-cuts

I cannot tell you how much you've helped with my editing. This was great. Thank you.
SO good! I learn new things every time! Gotta review the motion blur so I actually get it.

Very Good Premiere Gal. I have been doing this for thirty years, and I have learned something. You are really good at what you do. Thanks!

This was so freakin' fantastic. Simple, clear, and concise... a model to aspire to!
So much good stuff in this video! Thank you!!! And thank you for adding in the little yellow bubbles telling us what you're doing! ⭐
My greatest premier pro teacher, I’m pursuing becoming just like you. Thanks for the knowledge
I use these tricks all the time. Broll & cam 2 footage comes in clutch!
Posting the link to this in every video that needs it lol Seriously tho, as an amateur editor, I love all of these tricks. Subscribed. :)
Awesome thank you!
Solid as always, thanks. Fav: distraction in various ways.
Mine too!!
This is pure gold!
💰
One of your best video's so far! Thank you
Nice touch with the mirror on the second angle, opens it up a lil
I think so too!
Fantastic video. Thank you.
Fantastic video. Thanks to the best Premiere magician on the planet.

Aint nothing wrong with a couple obvious jump cuts, as long as its not too many! ;)
Thank you the tips!! 😊 these are some very handy editing tips! The audio cut tip is exactly what I need. 🎉 10:54
Great video. Super helpful for the new editors out there. My fav ones are adding B-rolls and zoom Ins.
Excellent. Thank you for this. Very helpful.
Thank you from Kenya
Great tips!
This video was very helpful thank you so much
You can cross dissolve between two similar shots and it’s usually less jarring than a jump cut.
Wow! My 1st time coming across your channel, Really love your way of explaining, and most of all a visual flash of the Keyboard shortcuts!!!! I wonder if you have a video about useful keyboard shortcuts!!
I do! I also have my own keyboard shortcut keyboard too - I talk about it here: ua-cam.com/video/NQXfQt-Fo_w/v-deo.htmlsi=5968tIK-xQo8QsNX
One of your BEST!!!!
I love to watch your videos and remained subscriber even if I don't use Premiere Pro anymore! (thanks to Adobe customer support)
This video was super helpful!
Great ideas, honestly I tend to put a Film Dissolve on jump cuts and if needed an audio transition. Feels more fluent then nothing
Great video ! I liked it with my two accounts! I knew most of those tips but it is always good to be reminded some of this stuff and learn new ideas or ways of doing things.
Love your videos! Thank you so much for your creativity!
great tips! and also sometimes I use morph cut effect
Muchas gracias.
fantastic! Thanks for the insight, I'll be using this immediately.
This channel is amazing. Thank you! PG!
Needed This!
the audio sounds freaking great .... what is the interface and which lewitt mic is that? thank you

Hey! What camera/lenses combo you use for your videos? They look so nice 👍🏻
Canon Eos R with 35mm lens is my main cam, second angle was DJI Pocket 3.
Thanks for the helpful info! You're a good teacher. Just curious, what camera are you using to create these videos? The image is great. :)
I use a Canon EOS R with a 35mm f/1.8 as my main angle. I shoot in 1080p 😮 ;)
Nice video
Now with YT people are expecting jumps, if they are not there, the viewe thinks that the video was not shortened as much as it should have. Larry
Great video! Just curious, are you using that lav mic for scratch audio?
I've been using multicam for the past year and it has made editing very tedious in premiere Pro. 😊 Going back to the source file to make a color change and the old sequence is missing. Although the thought of having to edit them individually like that sounds annoying as well.
Morph cuts work great on talking head footage. It would have hid the cut at 5:45 a lot better
What about the awesome morph cut in premier? Saved my bacon often when I didn't have b-roll and my footage wasn't shot at a high enough resolution to do zooms.
sometimes it can work, but it always does some funky stuff
can u make some layer label presets or pact, i was that u have a custom color.
hello Premier Gal, how do one rotoscope a long form video?
Brillant
You forgot morph cut. I know, but sometimes it does work.

... ever heard about Morph cuts?
Morph cut.
If you really need to hide one on a talking head shot you can just clean the audio and morph cut the subject.
👍🏻👍🏻
❤️🔥👍🏻
3:15 I have to try this :)))))))))))))
So... Nothing about J and L cuts!?
We cover j cuts and l cuts in previous videos, I wanted to show other new techniques this time. :)
Did you Switched to Windows Pc? Why
No, I use both Apple & Windows.
Why you wearing a lav mic when you have a good mic in front of you?
Backup. Always have a backup audio.
Besides these awesome suggestions, I will add using Morph Cut: ua-cam.com/video/PCaRPzVNdpc/v-deo.html
Sooo.. Hide jump cuts by editing your videos properly? Like you should?
Jump cuts (on UA-cam) are not "a great way to cut out the fluff", it's an irritating lack of editing skill of content creators, that got "acceptable" these days. Some of them can't even form a sentence without 4 jump cuts in it.
Very well said!
Hence why I show creative ways in this video to make them look better.
@PremiereGal your videos are extremely well produced and as an older editor, I just hope more content creators catch your content and implement it.
Spend more than 5 seconds learning how to edit and any of these “hidden” jump are noticeable with my eyes shut and full of pepper spray
If it's not to be fixed in pre, it must be fixed in post, as editors we work with what we have... what's your great way to cut the fluff and errors?
Premiere gal needs to be Davinci gal. Premiere is a dead horse. Davinci is a new car.
Why is UA-cam translating into Brazilian?
If I didn't know English I wouldn't have joined the channel...
I'm from Portugal, not Brazil!
Soooo... You mean editing. Cool
Good god this is the stupidest video I've ever seen. When the most basic of all basic editing techniques is described as "pro" it's time to reevaluate what you think you're doing. Christ on a bike this is depressing.
Don't use PRO at all Adobe is Bullshit.
AI tools are going to make this irrelevant within a year or two.
I fucking hate jump cuts. UA-cam is cancer.
