I just love seeing people talk about loving Alice Cooper. He’s been the soundtrack to my life since I was 12 in 1973. I listened to all those other bands you mentioned too, but I was really the only one out of all my friends that listed to Alice with the same fervor. He stands alone in my book.
That is so cool, I started listening to Alice when I was about 12 in 1996. For me my "alice Cooper" is Marilyn Manson. I actually got into Alice when I started seeing the parallels between the two artist. What ever your feelings about Manson are, with out Manson it's likely I would not have been a fan
Dada is a fantastic album! Dick Wagner’s solo on « Pass the Gun around » is absolutely beautiful. « Former Lee Warner » and « Scarlet and Sheba » are great songs too.
He's great in concert and a nice guy. Met him once at a concert. Would have loved to have seen him with original lineup. Check out footage of early days on UA-cam if you haven't. 🙂
"From the Inside" is an amazing record. Lyrically, it's brilliant. It's in my top five with Billion Dollar Babies, Welcome to My Nightmare, Killer, and School's Out. (no particular order)
I've always liked DaDa too. 1) Billion Dollar Babies 2) Love It To Death 3) Muscle Of Love 4) From The Inside 5) DaDa. I like some of the tracks from Nightmare but it's never really gripped me.
@@JCStorm76 funny thing is, long time ago I too thought it was a boring waste of time. I was a fan of Alice's early albums. My favorite is "Love It To Death". Second Coming, Dwight Fry, and Sun Arise as a trilogy is GENIUS! The best of Alice Cooper in three tracks, right there. The guitar work is on point. The songwriting... Killer stuff.
The Guitologist You are right. Love It To Death is the best AC Group album. Caught In A Dream, Is It My Body, I’m 18, Long Way To Go, Ballad Of Dwight Fry all great tunes. The album cover is cool as hell too!
I actually enjoy the second side of that album a lot more than the first; "Black Juju" is a bit of a stretch, which is why I rank KILLER No. 1. Those last three songs on LOVE IT TO DEATH are killer, however.
Dada is the most underappreciated album in his discography. And Pass The Gun Around is one of the best AC songs ever. Scary because here he speaks about himself.
For nostalgic reasons, I will always choose “School’s Out”. When I hear “Luney Tune” and “Gutter Cat”, I’m 12 years old again. It really takes me back to 1974, when I first became an Alice Cooper Group fan. “Love it to Death” comes in at second place, because I’ve always loved that album. “Billion Dollar Babies” is probably their best - a tour de force!
@@publicanimal I kind of rediscovered the album a few years ago and it's very high on my list. I seriously think it's one of his most underrated albums.
I heard "Dada" on the day I stopped my alcohol addiction and I pinned the lines "I`ve had so many blackout nights before, I don´t think I can take this anymore" (of "Pass the Gun around") on my door, so I can read it every morning. It reminds me of my drinking time and helps me to stay clean.
There's a lot of cool cuts on that record. "Leather Boots" and "Pain" are two of my favorites. Background vocals by Flo and Eddie are perfect; too bad they only worked on that one LP.
At 58 i still have a warm fuzzy evil spot in my heart for Alice. My first concert was in 75' at the Oakland collesium. The Babys were the opening act. I remember Alice bouncing around on stage for a good 2 hours. Best 8 bucks i ever spent!
Good calls! For me it's Killer even despite all that octane on BDB. "Killer" is a work of art. For anyone who can't manage to hear all of Killer, at least hear "Desperado" before you die - no, not an Eagles song :) :)
Agreed. "Killer" is one of the better releases of the 1970s. Alice had a few amazing releases in the 70s - Killer, Billion Dollar Babies, and Welcome To My Nightmare are my fave three. Saw Cooper LIVE during the Welcome to my Nightmare tour. Loved Cooper. Always at the top of my list for fave acts of all time.
Agree on that for sure. I think Killers is one of the best hard rock albums ever ,produced in my home town of Toronto by the Amazing Bob Ezrin. Love it !
@Iain Botham I'm 58 years old and Definitely Agree that not only is the KILLER Album The Best Cooper Album BUT "HALO OF FLIES " Sent Chills. The Transitions unlike most Cooper Songs!! What A Masterpiece!! Too Bad It didn't get much Airplay!!!
Saw the vid for "How You Gonna See Me Now?" on some late night show when I was s'posed to be in bed for school around the same time Alice was on the Muppets. Instantly loved the tune & when I finally found the album several years later it immediately became (& has remained) one of my all time favorite albums
Like others have noted, Muscle Of Love is wildly underrated. I was 11 in 1973 when it came out and it was pivotal moment in my music listening life. Top of the heap for me. 1. Muscle Of Love 2. Killer 3. Billion Dollar Babies 4. Welcome To My Nightmare 5. Love It To Death 6. Schools Out
I loved a lot of different bands in the 70s - The Stones, Kiss, Cheap Trick, Queen, The Tubes, Nazareth, Deep Purple, Max Webster, etc. But my BIG TWO were always Zeppelin and Alice. Was lucky enough to see both live.
Max Webster? I had to go look them up, never heard of them, and I was a buyer in record stores in the 70's and 80's so I thought I had heard of just about everybody, especially prog rock. It's interesting that we didn't hear it on the radio, because I'm in Cleveland and we had WMMS... at that time a hugely influential and well respected prog / album rock station that broke Rush in the US, another Canadian band. We were all huge Rush fans here :) but missed Max Webster, I guess.
@@lindadriscoll7386 Max Webster never hit like Rush did, but they had a pretty good following up there. Great musicianship in all areas and a fun band to see live...which I did. If you had to look up and listen to ONE Max Webster album, I would suggest "High Class In Borrowed Shoes". Kim Mitchell went out and did some pretty good solo work in the 80s (radio friendly), but imo he was never better than when he fronted Max Webster. "High Class.." I would vote as one of the best Canadian releases of the 1970s. I was in a band in the 70s that played a few Max Webster tunes...that helped me garner much move for this obscure Canuck band.
“Raise your fist and yell” has very special meaning for me; first concert with Motörhead back in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Love the comeback metal years with Kane “women in the edge of love” Roberts.
I was at my dad's friend's house having a get-together that lasted until the early hours if the morning almost twenty years ago and he was playing alot if good albums and he played one that I'd not heard before. That album happened to be "The Last Temptation" by Alice Cooper. I was shocked at how good it was. It had a coherent concept and the music flowed really well throughout. Bob Ezrin did an excellent job producing this one.
Yes! I've been waiting for this. My top 5 right now are: 5. School's Out 4. Muscle of Love (criminally underrated) 3. Billion Dollar Babies 2. Love It To Death 1. Killer (always will be! And my 2nd favourite album cover of all time) I'm surprised you didn't mention Big Apple Dreamin' off of Muscle of Love, seeing as you're a New Yorker. I personally think DaDa is really interesting. It's funny that even though he wasn't trying to be scary (which in itself is weird) it ended up being his creepiest album! I totally understand why it's not one of your favourites though. I owe a lot to Constrictor since it was the album to introduce me to Alice Cooper, or more accurately the Man Behind the Mask. I'm a huge horror fan, and Friday the 13th Part 6 is one of my favourite installments of that series, and I dug the theme song.
I like your thinking - through and through! I sense that you're a serious assed prog guy! (You're probably the kind of dude that finds something redeeming in my music playlists, BTW.)
I have been a Coop fan since 72 and my very first lp ever purchased....Killer which I bought in the summer of 73 at the age of 12. My top 5 are the exact same as yours! Killer is super heavy acid rock and not overproduced like Schools Out. Have always loved Muscle of Love, great guitar by Wagner and Hunter. Saw Welcome To My Nightmare in the theater in 76!
@Timothy Gray I definitely wouldn't say it sucks. It's his opinion. Sucks would be putting BDB or Love It To Death on the bottom of the list. Still, I will admit I called BS when Pete put DaDa last and Muscle of Love below From the Inside lol!
You're a notch and I'm a legend. You're at peace and I'm uptight. - And I only recently learned that 'Hello Hooray' (my favorite Alice Cooper song) is a cover.
never even tried DaDa until reading all of these positive comments and I loved it. I'd heard a couple of songs from the collection album he put out but didn't know he did more New Wave after Flush the Fashion '80, which I've always had a soft spot for. So thanks to all of you.
Thanks for these "List" videos Pete, bring back great memories. In 1974, my brother was away at college. Home one weekend, while helping him wash his VW bug, he slapped B$B into his 8-track. I spent the entire weekend sitting in that car, playing over and over. 12 yrs old and hooked on Alice. It'll be another 12yrs before I saw him live on the '86 Constrictor tour for the first of many AC shows.
Cole Rieger back in the day, before MTV, the internet and instant media. All you had were a few magazines (Creem,Hit Parader etc...) with pictures and an interview. Back then all you had was the album. You studied the pictures and whatever other “goodies” were included. That was it !! I also loved ‘Billion Dollar Babies’ which also had a lot of artwork and goodies in the album cover ... in the late 70’s The Coop kinda sold out to Hollywood and he wasn’t the same as he was in, say, ‘73... I must admit after that album I stopped listening to him until the late 80’s. He lost his edge. I saw him last summer and it’s like I was 16 again... just remember, “Long live the Coop”
Another solid ranking, Pete! I'll keep mine simple by doing the obligatory ten-album count-off: 1 Alice Cooper Goes to Hell 2 Love it to Death 3 Billion Dollar Babies 4 Flush the Fashion 5 Welcome to My Nightmare 6 Lace and Whiskey 7 Hey Stoopid 8 Dada 9 Killer 10 The Eyes of Alice Cooper
My favorite unknown Cooper song is "I Love America". I love them mountains with them four big heads I love Velveeta slapped on Wonderbread I love a Commie if'n he's good and dead I Love America
@@frankiecommisso48 the original CD of Last Temptation came with a comic book. Book 1 it was called. You could buy Book 2 and 3. The Alice character nutures a young boy, to obey his parents, study hard in school, don't drink alcohol or partake in drugs, and ultimately believe by faith alone in the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Chris Cornell, Tommy Shaw and others contributed to this masterpiece.
Alice Cooper is a True artist & he's still making great music. My fave Alice is the New Wave Alice, Flush The Fashion/ Special Forces/Zipper Catches Skin era. Some really great songs and lyrics on those albums.
Enjoy your reviews Pete! Alice is a fav of mine, since 1973, when I was 13. I've met him twice and seen live multiple times. Got all his stuff, records, CDs, boots, etc. Love early stuff the best...Killer my favorite. Love the Eyes Of Alice Cooper a lot...you should revisit that one. Reminds me of early Alice. Thanks and keep up the great reviews!
I suppose it’s when I grew up but my favorite Alice was later years. The 1st album I heard was Raise Your Fist and Yell and I was hooked from that point on. Hey Stoopid is still my favorite album from any artist.
My Top 5 for one and The Alice Cooper Group, and Alice Cooper Solo! 1) Billion Dollar Babies 2) Easy Action 3) Killer 4) Muscle of Love 5) School’s Out 1) From The Inside 2) Welcome to My Nightmare 3) Goes to Hell 4) Lace & Whisky 5) Flush The Fashion Fantastic review and thank you for doing this! interesting ranking. School's Out is in my top 5. WTMN & Goes to Hell make a great pair, they go together. Interesting also that you include the two HV albums. I love them as well. Got to see them live, fortunately. Seen AC way too many times to count, starting with the School's Out tour in 1972, Wow, was that ever great! I'm giving your reply a thumbs up!
1. Killer 2. Love it to Death 3. Muscle of Love (Underrated) 4. DaDa (Vastly underrated) 5. Billion Dollar Babies 6. School's Out 7. Easy Action ('Shoe Salesman' 'Return of the Spiders' 'Beautiful Flyaway') 8. Goes To Hell 9. From the Inside ('Nurse Rozetta' is a hoot) 10. Lace & Whiskey Depending on what one wants from an Alice Cooper album at any given time, it's fair to say most fans' favourites will chop and change according to mood. If you're new to him, your best bet is to pick an album based on whichever sleeve/cover 'speaks' to you personally, as they tend (more often than not) to reflect the nature of the accompanying music.
I have been a huge fan of Alice Cooper since I was 14, and still enjoy most of his albums absolutely not getting tired of listening to them. My personal preference for each album always depends purely on the mood I am in. So my personal ranking can change from mood to mood :) I truly believe that Coop is one of most underrated rock musicians. And he just keeps proving his profuse talent and potential.
The Last Temptation is highly underrated, and rest in peace, Chris Cornell. As for Cooper's ballads, this record's "It's Me" is a personal favorite. I really appreciate Welcome To My Nightmare and love the Drew Struzan (Back To The Future 1-3, John Carpenter's The Thing) art.
I was late for the alice Cooper train myself. I had stuff by him, but wasn't obsessed till I heard him on Rockline radio show in 1994, promoting the Last Temptation. I went back and got the older ones on used vinyl. I tend to like his newer ones, because those are the ones I bought new and played to death. My fave of all-time is Dirty Diamonds, I could play it 24/7. YES, replace that raggedy copy lol
Wow, can’t believe your rankings of my favorite Alice period, 1978-1983! My top few: 1. Dada 2. From The Inside 3. Zipper Catches Skin 4 & 5. Special Forces/Flush The Fashion (equally good) 6. Welcome To My Nightmare
I've seen Alice 8 times from 79 to 2017. Been a fan since 72. Ill try the entire catalog 1. Welcome to my Nightmare- went from fan to fanatic with this one 2. Billion Dollar Babies. Brilliant 3. Eyes of Alice Cooper. my favorite of the last 20 years 11.Goes to Hell- Good stuff, album too short 12. Welcome 2 my Nightmare- I was surprised how much I liked this 13. Brutal Planet- by far my favorite metal album by Alice. 14. Paranormal- Fun album, lots of good tracks. 15. Special Forces- has a few good tunes. 16. Easy Action- 17. Dragon town- a few good songs, I just wanna be god is the highlight for me. 18- Dirty Diamonds 19 Hey Stoopid 20.Trash. 21. Raise your Fist and Yell. 22. Zipper Catches Skin 23. Muscle of Love. 24. 1. Love It To Death 2. Welcome to My Nightmare 3. Billion Dollar Babies 4. Killer Favorite song is Long Way to Go. Lucky enough to see the Welcome to My Nightmare tour, 1975, LA Forum. Keep up the good work Pete, doing a great job.
I think I have six albums of his, I just started listening to him more about a year ago. But my favorite one that I do have is From the Inside. I think he said he has absolutely no memory making the early 80's albums.
Great video...! I loved Brutal Planet and the tour that followed. Having said that I love his early stuff also and really all his stuff for that matter. Dressing up as Alice this Halloween, straight jacket, black make-up, and all..😊
Thanks for tackling the Alice Cooper discograpghy...so many albums...but I gotta agree with your top 5.. the first one I ever bought was "Love it to Death"..my mom found it and hid it...I'm 59 now and one day I'm gonna find out where its at...lol...thanks again...by the way, do you play those guitars behind you ?
Alice Cooper band was one of the most important et best american band of all time, it's often forgotten... Their production from 70 to 74 is simply amazing.
HUGE AC fan; first show seen 1973, last show 2018, and had the honor of meeting him at a meet & greet; what a great guy!! Top 5: 1. Love it to Death. 2. Welcome 2. 3. Schools Out. 4. BDB. 5. Welcome to. Favorite Song : Desperado. My ringtone: Caught in a Dream.
I thought The eyes of Alice Cooper was a very underrated album, some great songs on it, What do you want from me,Novocaine, This place is haunted. In my humble estimation, a very good album.
Great list! Only familiar with maybe 10 of these albums but my favourites would be 5- from the inside 4- dada (really like this idk why) 3- welcome to my nightmare 2- love it to death 1- Billion dollar babies
The last two full catalogs that I've listened to have been Alice Cooper and Europe. If Pete does Heart next I'm going to sweep my apartment for bugs! Here we are: 27) Dragontown 26) Brutal Planet (These bottom two are just Alice doing nu-metal. No thanks.) 26) Welcome 2 My Nightmare (This just didn't work, IMO.) 24) Hey Stoopid (A couple of great songs surrounded by too many guests and filler tracks.) 23) Trash (See what I wrote for "Hey Stoopid" ond ditto it here.) 22) The Last Temptation (A surprising return to form after the Alice-lite of the last two albums.) 21) Dirty Diamonds 20) DaDa 19) Lace and Whiskey 18) Along Came a Spider (I like my #21-18 quite a bit, but it goes to show how good the ones ranked higher than this are to me.) 17) Constrictor (I don't think anyone expected another Alice Cooper album after the hell he'd been going through.) 16) Pretties for You 15) Easy Action (These are great, psych-rock albums and could have been edited down into a single amazing one.) 14) Special Forces 13) Welcome to My Nightmare (This used to be much higher for me, but it hasn't aged great, IMO.) 12) From the Inside 11) Flush the Fashion (I really like "Clones", no matter what anyone else says!) 10) Muscle of Love 9) The Eyes of Alice Cooper (Alice does garage rock in the best way imaginable.) 8) Paranormal 7) Raise Your Fist and Yell (This is one of those 'nostalgia" albbums for me.) 6) Alice Cooper Goes to Hell 5) Zipper Catches Skin (This and "Goes To Hell" are almost cabaret. I've listened to them more than any other Alice records except my #1.) 4) School's Out 3) Billion Dollar Babies 2) Love It to Death (One of his darkest albums. It kind of frightened me when I was younger.) 1) Killer (Always has been #1 for me; always will be.) Thanks for keeping us talking about these great albums, Pete! Alice personally confirmed to me that the songs on "From the inside" were in fact written about people he met while drying out in Bellevue psyche ward (there were no rehab clinics back then). Millie and Billy were straight laced kids that came off as very normal "kids next door" types. How you gonna see me now was written about him for his wife, who had never actually seen him sober. What a great album!
I Debbie Harry had sung “You Look Good In Rags” from Special Forces it would have been a hit. I think it’s a hidden gem from Alice that he probably doesn’t remember recording.
The greatness of Desperado is immeasurable. My top three would have to be easy action, school's out and killer on the top spot. Great video, subscribing now.
It's too hard to set a definitive ranking to Alice's albums, but many of my Top Third fell quite low in your list... Dada, Flush, & Forces get a lot of airplay here, & Inside is definitely Top 3. One other thing is that while I don't dispute Nightmare being a great album, I give it bassically the same status as you gave Paranoid on yr Sabbath list... I love it, but I don't need to play it anymore. For my own discography request, I'd like to hear yr take on Iced Earth. Thanks, & keep up the great work
Hard to argue with your #1 and like you said your top three you could flip flop and be okay, I was kinda shocked to hear you didn't get into the band until the 90s but its cool that you found the coop... good review Pete oh and this is the first video of yours I've watched...

From one to another, glad you made it thru and are alive and clean.
I loved “Flush the Fashion” back in the day. In fact “Clones (we’re all) is one of my favorite songs by Lice. Just my meaningless opinion...rock on😎
Besides "Killer" the late 70s/early 80s albums are my favorites.
There's a lot of cool cuts on that record. "Leather Boots" and "Pain" are two of my favorites. Background vocals by Flo and Eddie are perfect; too bad they only worked on that one LP.
Clones is on my list of top songs as well.
Im 61 years old.......back in the day alice was our marylin manson guy
...........time has not changed that much fellowyoutoubers....love you all .
DaDa is a great album. One of my favourite Cooper albums
I agree 100 per cent!
I’m in love with “Special Forces”
Your a special person
I love all the early 80's stuff of Alice. Special forces is most probably the best of them.
Generation Landslide '81 is an awesome song on that album!!!!
@@petriheikkinen2188uhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Are you sure?
It is the first full album I remember hearing in full. The one that got me hooked.
Alice is criminally underrated
These are some of my favourite videos on all of youtube. The amount of records ive found because of you is incredible.
"Killer" is a bass jam all the way through. Dennis Dunnaway was thumping throughout that whole album. ☮️
he really did drive that original band
I love "Hard Hearted Alice!" It's one of my favorite songs!
MontcomHorror The interplay between Glen and Mike is awesome!!
Love that song. Muscle of Love got some great ones
From the Inside...... pure classic.
At 58 i still have a warm fuzzy evil spot in my heart for Alice. My first concert was in 75' at the Oakland collesium. The Babys were the opening act. I remember Alice bouncing around on stage for a good 2 hours. Best 8 bucks i ever spent!
The Babys opening for Alice? Lolol.... that must have been one weird show. Those two bands don't seem like they belong on the same bill.
Muscle of Love is beautifully recorded, and Big Apple Dreaming is fantastic.
Good calls!
For me it's Killer even despite all that octane on BDB. "Killer" is a work of art.
For anyone who can't manage to hear all of Killer, at least hear "Desperado" before you die - no, not an Eagles song :) :)
I can't think of anything on here I don't like and while Desperado is great, it's under my wheels and you drive me nervous for me
Best bass album I've ever heard. ☮️
Too Bad It didn't get much Airplay!!!
from the insides is one of my fav albums of all time
It's brilliant. If only he'd worked some more with David Foster and all those L.A. session guys, why this was a one-off I'll never understand.
My elderly sister introduced me to that album when I was 14. Great memories
My favorite too. So great!
It is my favorite album by anyone.
Saw the vid for "How You Gonna See Me Now?" on some late night show when I was s'posed to be in bed for school around the same time Alice was on the Muppets. Instantly loved the tune & when I finally found the album several years later it immediately became (& has remained) one of my all time favorite albums
Thank you for ranking Alice Cooper albums/CD's.🎤🎸🎵🥁
Like others have noted, Muscle Of Love is wildly underrated. I was 11 in 1973 when it came out and it was pivotal moment in my music listening life. Top of the heap for me.
1. Muscle Of Love
2. Killer
3. Billion Dollar Babies
4. Welcome To My Nightmare
5. Love It To Death
6. Schools Out
I loved a lot of different bands in the 70s - The Stones, Kiss, Cheap Trick, Queen, The Tubes, Nazareth, Deep Purple, Max Webster, etc.
Billion dollar babies is by far my favorite Alice album! That’s a top ten album of mine period!
Just seen Alice live on Saturday in Christchurch new zealand FANTASTIC show he's still got it , plus he played a couple of deeper cuts
My top 5 right now are:
5. School's Out
4. Muscle of Love (criminally underrated)
3. Billion Dollar Babies
2. Love It To Death
1. Killer (always will be! And my 2nd favourite album cover of all time)
I'm surprised you didn't mention Big Apple Dreamin' off of Muscle of Love, seeing as you're a New Yorker.
(You're probably the kind of dude that finds something redeeming in my music playlists, BTW.)
totally with you on Muscle of Love
Agree with you about Muscle
The subtle transition from " 2nd Coming " to " Ballad of Dwight Fry " has to be one of the greatest moments in US Rock music .
Awesome show as usual!
I actually love “From the Inside” - I would rate that in the top 5 easily...
My #1
@@1977tme I'm with you. It's my #1 album of ALL time.
I love this one too 👽
My #1, maybe because my dad has the album with all the fold out stuff, was so cool to go through while listening to the album.
I'll keep mine simple by doing the obligatory ten-album count-off:
1 Alice Cooper Goes to Hell
2 Love it to Death
3 Billion Dollar Babies
4 Flush the Fashion
5 Welcome to My Nightmare
6 Lace and Whiskey
7 Hey Stoopid
8 Dada
9 Killer
10 The Eyes of Alice Cooper
My favorite unknown Cooper song is "I Love America".
I love them mountains with them four big heads
I love Velveeta slapped on Wonderbread
I love a Commie if'n he's good and dead
I Love America
Lost in America is a better song, about the real truth of America. From the last temptation album.
I love the thumbnail , you are holding up my favourite Alice Cooper album.
Last temptation and Brutal Planet really go together. The lyrics of Brutal Planet says it all.
Along with "Dragontown" they are actually a trilogy, of sorts.
Saw him live doing the From the Inside tour in 79. Amazing show. So incredible.
Alice Cooper is a True artist & he's still making great music. My fave Alice is the New Wave Alice, Flush The Fashion/ Special Forces/Zipper Catches Skin era. Some really great songs and lyrics on those albums.
Good lord!
Seriously?
@@60zeller yeah rlly
1) Billion Dollar Babies
2) Easy Action
3) Killer
4) Muscle of Love
5) School’s Out

Fantastic review and thank you for doing this!
No one close to Alice Cooper!
Legendary
13:25 I saw the WTMN tour stop in Charlotte. Suzy Quatro was the opener. Hearing Vincent Price's voice was monumental!
Great list Pete... I'm hitting myself over the head having not really gotten into the Kinks before now. You know all the hits but they've done great albums too.
Whoooooah?!!! Dada is genius! My fav is From the Inside. I like his blackout phase and the obscure stuff!
I'd say top three are Go To Hell, From the Inside, Welcome to My Nightmare.
Favorite Goes To Hell song?

interesting ranking.
Cool ranking. I'd put the "new wave" albums even higher but overall I agree!
1. Killer
2. Love it to Death
3. Muscle of Love (Underrated)
4. DaDa (Vastly underrated)
5. Billion Dollar Babies
6. School's Out
7. Easy Action ('Shoe Salesman' 'Return of the Spiders' 'Beautiful Flyaway')
8. Goes To Hell
9. From the Inside ('Nurse Rozetta' is a hoot)
10. Lace & Whiskey
Depending on what one wants from an Alice Cooper album at any given time, it's fair to say most fans' favourites will chop and change according to mood.
If you're new to him, your best bet is to pick an album based on whichever sleeve/cover 'speaks' to you personally, as they tend (more often than not) to reflect the nature of the accompanying music.
@@shaynewest8757 Not a dud track on the entire album. 'Hard-hearted Alice' is not given its due. Teenage Lament '74...
The LPs where a treat to get back in the day with all the extra paraphernalia. Very tight band , early twin guitars
i’m looking forward to “Detroit Stories” dropping this month.
Dada would be near the top. Probably the creepiest album he ever made.
Definitely, I love all the early 80's albums.
I agree 100%. DADA is a criminally underated Alice album. It's my 5th favourite Alice album
I got to listen to that one
Yes! Enough's Enough, Fresh Blood, Scarlet and Sheba, Former Lee Warmer, great stuff
It’s weird as hell and still has Ezrin
I have been a huge fan of Alice Cooper since I was 14, and still enjoy most of his albums absolutely not getting tired of listening to them.
My personal preference for each album always depends purely on the mood I am in. So my personal ranking can change from mood to mood :)
I truly believe that Coop is one of most underrated rock musicians.
Nice to see From The Inside at #6. Underrated record. Bernie Taupin lyrics. A hidden gem.
Wow, can’t believe your rankings of my favorite Alice period, 1978-1983!
My top few:
1. Dada
2. From The Inside
3. Zipper Catches Skin
4 & 5. Special Forces/Flush The Fashion (equally good)
6. Welcome To My Nightmare
Dada is in my top 5. Yes, it is THAT good! People need to LISTEN! lol
I was listening to DaDa this morning getting ready for work.
I've seen Alice 8 times from 79 to 2017. Been a fan since 72. Ill try the entire catalog
1. Welcome to my Nightmare- went from fan to fanatic with this one
2. Billion Dollar Babies. Brilliant
3. Killer . More brilliance

5. From the Inside- saw him on this tour-my first concert.
6. Schools Out check out My Stars, my favorite song on the album
7.The Last Temptation. My favorite album of 94

9. Dada- I love America is one of his best tunes
10. Eyes of Alice Cooper. my favorite of the last 20 years

26. Pretties for You
27. Lace and Whiskey- Hated this album then, still do.
Thanks for reading
"Pretties for you" deserves to be higher. "Levity Ball" escaped from Barrett's Piper!
I would have to agree, Pretties for you is underrated. Definitely not there best, but I would rank it much higher,
@@1008md If it had a better production, music fans would appreciate it more!
1. Love It To Death
2. Welcome to My Nightmare
3. Billion Dollar Babies
4. Killer
Favorite song is Long Way to Go.
Flush the fashion from 1980 was interesting
Great video...! I loved Brutal Planet and the tour that followed. Having said that I love his early stuff also and really all his stuff for that matter. Dressing up as Alice this Halloween, straight jacket, black make-up, and all..😊
Thanks for tackling the Alice Cooper discograpghy...so many albums...but I gotta agree with your top 5.. the first one I ever bought was "Love it to Death"..my mom found it and hid it...I'm 59 now and one day I'm gonna find out where its at...lol...thanks again...by the way, do you play those guitars behind you ?
Great ranking of Vincent's albums, I personally put Flush the Fashion, Special Forces, and Zipper Catches Skin at #6, #7 and #8 respectively.
Dada the song was really scary
I used to love this album when it came out
Great list Pete !
Alice Cooper band was one of the most important et best american band of all time, it's often forgotten... Their production from 70 to 74 is simply amazing.
“ Goes To Hell” is the first record I was introduced to. Still have a soft spot for it .
Me too. First Alice Cooper album I knew. Is one of my favorite. It has a story telling that connect all songs, and in a logical order.....Just great.
Novacaine is a fantastic song!
1. Billion Dollar Babies
2. Killer
3. DaDa
4. Welcome To My Nightmare
5. Love it to Death
My 2 favorite albums are 'Brutal Planet' and 'Dragontown'. Killer, killer albums. I love that Cooper brought the HEAVY to those albums.
Great list! Only familiar with maybe 10 of these albums but my favourites would be
5- from the inside
4- dada (really like this idk why)
3- welcome to my nightmare
2- love it to death
1- Billion dollar babies
The last two full catalogs that I've listened to have been Alice Cooper and Europe. If Pete does Heart next I'm going to sweep my apartment for bugs! Here we are:
27) Dragontown
26) Brutal Planet (These bottom two are just Alice doing nu-metal. No thanks.)
26) Welcome 2 My Nightmare (This just didn't work, IMO.)
24) Hey Stoopid (A couple of great songs surrounded by too many guests and filler tracks.)
23) Trash (See what I wrote for "Hey Stoopid" ond ditto it here.)
22) The Last Temptation (A surprising return to form after the Alice-lite of the last two albums.)
21) Dirty Diamonds
20) DaDa
19) Lace and Whiskey
18) Along Came a Spider (I like my #21-18 quite a bit, but it goes to show how good the ones ranked higher than this are to me.)
17) Constrictor (I don't think anyone expected another Alice Cooper album after the hell he'd been going through.)
16) Pretties for You
15) Easy Action (These are great, psych-rock albums and could have been edited down into a single amazing one.)
14) Special Forces
13) Welcome to My Nightmare (This used to be much higher for me, but it hasn't aged great, IMO.)
12) From the Inside
11) Flush the Fashion (I really like "Clones", no matter what anyone else says!)
10) Muscle of Love
9) The Eyes of Alice Cooper (Alice does garage rock in the best way imaginable.)
8) Paranormal
7) Raise Your Fist and Yell (This is one of those 'nostalgia" albbums for me.)
6) Alice Cooper Goes to Hell
5) Zipper Catches Skin (This and "Goes To Hell" are almost cabaret. I've listened to them more than any other Alice records except my #1.)
4) School's Out
3) Billion Dollar Babies
2) Love It to Death (One of his darkest albums. It kind of frightened me when I was younger.)
1) Killer (Always has been #1 for me; always will be.)

Imagine if the Alice Cooper Group was still Around.
Flush The Fashion is an incredibly underrated New Wave album. It sounds great on Vinyl.
What a great album!
the synthesized backing vocals have aged so badly I can't listen to the album at all. It's a shame since the songs are great.
Killer, Billion Dollar Babies, Welcome To My Nightmare, School’s Out, Hey Stoopid & Trash are my favorite Alice Cooper albums !
No love for Love It To Death?
@@Torpor111 Yeah really. A great album is Love it to death.
From the inside???
Torpor111 Loved it to Death is a good album too!
I can imagine ranking all his albums would be very hard. I couldnt do it. Glad you did though!
I Debbie Harry had sung “You Look Good In Rags” from Special Forces it would have been a hit.
I think it’s a hidden gem from Alice that he probably doesn’t remember recording.
Given the fact that song uses the same riff as Blondie's "Atomic".
Agree with you. Intense beat...
Your story about Alice Cooper, discovering him late! Wow, that hit me because I was the same way!
It seems to me that early Alice, circa 1969, was an amalgam of Pink Floyd's spaciness and the scary side of The Doors.
What a strange but epic brew!
The greatness of Desperado is immeasurable.
My top three would have to be easy action, school's out and killer on the top spot. Great video, subscribing now.
Pass the Gun Around, from Dada is killer!
So is "Fresh Blood" and "No Man's Land". Definitely not bottom of the barrel Alice Cooper. I think Pete needs to revisit this album.....
I was a teenager in the seventies but to this day I've never listened to a Grateful Dead album.
Top 5 for me
1. Bilion Dollar Babies
2. Love it to Death
3. Muscle of Love
4. Killer
5. Raise Your Fist
Killer was my first Alice Cooper album, when it was released. And Hallo Of Flies is my all time favourite Alice track.
One of my favorites i bought not to far after it come out is flush the fashion
But i do love the early stuff
It's too hard to set a definitive ranking to Alice's albums, but many of my Top Third fell quite low in your list... Dada, Flush, & Forces get a lot of airplay here, & Inside is definitely Top 3. One other thing is that while I don't dispute Nightmare being a great album, I give it bassically the same status as you gave Paranoid on yr Sabbath list... I love it, but I don't need to play it anymore.
For my own discography request, I'd like to hear yr take on Iced Earth. Thanks, & keep up the great work
Please please do a ranking of King Diamond's albums. Hes one of my favorite artists and I would love to hear to opinion on his career!

Hard to argue with your #1 and like you said your top three you could flip flop and be okay, I was kinda shocked to hear you didn't get into the band until the 90s but its cool that you found the coop... good review Pete oh and this is the first video of yours I've watched...
