  • This is a quick video on my sister in-laws vauxhall corsa d, her car had been struggling to start and has a misfire. after having a look and listen it was decided that the coil pack was faulty (apparently common fault for the corsa d). so i decided to do a video on how quick and simple it is to do this your self.
    thanks for watching and please like, comment and subscribe .

    You left the Torgues bit in the bolt on top of the coilpack when you put the plastic cover back on
    Judging by the different colours on the spark plugs you need to take out the fuel injecter rail and clean the injecters, then check for correct spray pattern.

      @billysworkshop.  5 років тому

      To put it simply the spark isn't going through the spark plug like it should be, its found a shorter easier way to ground / earth. It isn't meant to do that obviously, check that the coil pack is properly secured in place but check while the engine is off otherwise you will get a shock. if it is secured properly, look to see if it's visually cracked / broken if so it needs to be replaced with a new or second hand coil pack and at the same time you may as well change the spark plugs, hope this helps buddy

      I don't see the need for one personally, if you just turn it enough to crush the washer then one quarter turn then that is more than enough, wasn't any torque wrenches in the old days.

    • @billysworkshop.
      @billysworkshop.  5 років тому

    I just bought a 16 plate corsa with 30000 miles on clock and 30 mns later after driving out of showroom my car broke down and was taken back to dealer who then explained that it's the coil pack that's done in, but I was also told by a friend that coil packs shouldn't pack in as early as 30000 miles, is that true ?

    • @billysworkshop.
      @billysworkshop.  4 роки тому +1

      It's definitely possible for any component to fail at any point, vauxhalls of resent times are prone to these sorts of issues and often recall models for bits to be changed and returned to the owners free of charge, coil packs aren't one of those things but are common as hell to fail at any point I'm afraid, on a bright note at least the garage has to put a brand new one on for you 😉

    What could it be .. bad sparks, bad coil? I’m a little in the dark

    • @billysworkshop.
      @billysworkshop.  5 років тому +1

      Could be a bad cam position sensor by the sound of it but the fastest way is to plug it in and have it checked, there also may be a way to get the fault code with out plugging in not 100% sure if vauxhalls do this like others but try it, press and hold the milage trip button then turn the ignition on and keep holding the milage trip button and after 10 seconds all the dials should go crazy then release the milage trip button and press a few times until you get a P code for example P1234 you can then Google that code to find the fault, but like I said not all makes do that worth trying though. If its what is recommended by the manufacturer then yes you should have used iridium but it is what they recommended you use it's not what you have to use there are loads of plugs that will fit and work fine normal type iridium 2 spark gaps per plug 3 spark gaps per plug and then there is the temperature range of the plug, basically if you got them from a place like euro car parts you put your registration in and it gives you a list of what ones will fit and if that is what you have done don't worry about it at all just carry on with the plugs 👍

      Have a look how much a new coil is and how much they are charging to change it and now you've seen how long it takes to change it you can decide if you're being screwed

      Paul Holman Found the same brand you’ve used here, haas, on Eurocarparts for £90. I guess they have a high mark up on expensive parts to cover other costs as it’s an Arnold Clark Vauxhall garage. Genuine Vauxhall parts can be notoriously expensive for what they are too. How is this car running now if you don’t mind me asking?

      That's exactly where I got it from and if you get it when they have one of there deals on it's even less, I know vauxhall have a thing you join and it gets you parts and labour cheaper but still it's an easy job plug and play, the car runs great still it was my sister in-laws car and she has just sold it to the local takeaway where she works as a delivery vehicle and is still running great

      Paul Holman nice one, think I’ll go ahead and change it myself and save like 250 quid. Do you know if any T30 screwdriver will do the job? Nice to find a video that gets straight to the point without any waffling on, cheers for the help

      Honestly it's that easy to change and in theory ye you could do it with a t30 screw driver just depends on your grip (they weren't stupid tight) and to be honest you may as well do the plugs if you feel confident enough, and thanks I tried to make it to the point 10min top's to do the job so no need for a video to be 20min long although it took me longer to do the job as I was filming it and moving the camera but still, if you get stuck or anything give me a shout again

    i was told that the spark plugs need to be tightend with a specific torque. Does it matter for the corsa?

      I personally have never torqued spark plugs (probably should) I just "know" when they are tight enough but my recommendation is if you are un sure then torque them to the specification, the reason I have never done them to spec is the amount of spark plugs I've tried to undo and broken because they where to tight (to spec from factory) I've not wanted the next person to change them have the same problem
