Vauxhall Corsa D Air Con Condenser Leak & Replacement
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- This 2012 Vauxhall Corsa D came in with the A/C not working due to a refrigerant leak. Rob traces the very small leak with the new Mastercool 55100 Leak Detector and shows you how to carry out the repair.
If you're interested in the Leak Detector here's the Amazon UK link to the updated version since this video was made:

Getting mine replaced next week. Don't mind the cost (£140) now I know how much kit is needed to repair it. Great video.
Apart from the video content, which is always great, I really admire the quality of your videos. The illumination, camera angle, sound, stability etc... Everything always top notch!
Thanks man, I appreciate it. Cheers 🍻
Most of the a/c stuff that I've got is from MasterCool and I've been happy with its performance. That sniffer does look nice and on one occasion, I can remember where the dye didn't show up and the sniffer picked it up just as with you. And that was a pretty easy install versus some cars where you have to pull the radiator out first. Have a good one Rob and a great weekend!
I'm very happy with the sniffer. It located 3 leaks in the first week I had it that I doubt my old one would have. So it's paid for itself. Good old made in USA! Cheers Terry 👍
Just fitted a new fan, didn't even bother testing the old one! £52 from gsf now working perfect wiring looked fine. Great video thanks👍🙂
I was reading the comments from Thomas and Keith. Pretty funny about how short the summers are. I have a slow leak on my wife's 05 Dodge Magnum and the local shop can't find the leak. I bet he could use your tool! You always have great editing Rob. Nice explanation on the repair on that car too. I feel like I could do the job now.
You could do it Wyatt. Yep our summers aren't long at all. Ship the Magnum over and I'll sort it for ya 😉
Hi, Really great to see you are further experience on Corsas. About to consider leak testing a 2012 with no A/C. Cheers
Very informative video Rob. Cheers. Like the camera work too. Need the same job on my Astra H now.
cool , seems a straight forward job , luv the leak sniffer was impressed when Mr O had one when sniffing out a unit in the boot floor of a vehicle . Great vid Rob cheers .
Yes mate, a good job those. Sniffer is awesome. Cheers Chris 🍻
Brilliant video!, it's a job I need to do and you showed exactly how to do it, will be looking at your other vids!!, Thanks
Starting to feel like summer... when the AC work starts coming in!
Yep I get real busy it. I quite enjoy it while other shops shy away from it for some reason.
We started taking on AC last year... have been doing more heater core repairs, so it was starting to make sense to buy the equipment, rather than have a mobile AC guy come in each time.
Thomas EXOVCDS a mobile guy for just A/C ?
Yup... evacuates & fills. If he finds leaks... we would have to fix them.
Yeh we have one as well but he does homes and businesses as well.
good job Rob. Look forward to the next video
Great video as always Rob time to get my A/C serviced
Really enjoyed that Rob
Cheers Graham 👍
Oh... and congrats on the 1st 1000 subs! =)
Haha thanks mate 👍
Rob, have you already received some Charlie stickers from me? I've lost track of whom I've sent them to already.
No mate no Charlie's here.
OK... soon then!
Ok thanks mate
Hi! Can you please be more specific about the exact place where you connect the air conditioning machine to the car?
Would be interesting to know how much that costs with workcosts included. :-) and how much time took it?
Jolly good sir! Nice detailed video :-) Today I changed my window regulator with a used one from UK. 14 Pounds pluss shipping. Next is changing a CV boot.
Nice. Thanks Jan
👈from The Netherlands. 2023/06 and my "Opel" Corsa got the tiny leak too. What else is new with Opel? I too really admire the quality of your video finding it just now. A small suggestion from my end. I am adding a bug, stone, rock catching fine mesh grid aluminum in front of the condenser for some protection.
Nice bit of kit for the price, and not a bad job either! You're on a roll. If i had done that, sods law something would have broken or rounded. 😂
Yes this one went well. Sometimes your chasing corrosion with the older cars.
I must say that vehicle is well designed for the ease of access. If you dont have the right tools your not fixing it right I guess. Well done buddy.
Yes straight forward enough these Steve. A lot of the modern plastic stuff comes off easy. Cheers mate 🍻
STEVE ROB you're only saying that because you saw the GM badge 😆
HAHA i'm still on the payroll or what.
You can relax now Steve. The frogs own Vauxhall now.
zoidberg444 I hope they have fun with it now. GM is looking at much bigger fish to put in the stable now. I wonder if Fiat Chrysler will be picked up for a song. GM pissed away 2 Billion on Fiat years back and this time it will be Fiat giving it all back HAHA
Well done, Rob.
Cheers 🍻
well done vauxhall very simple great video thanks
Thanks Shane, yes easy enough.
Perfekt Video , Grüße aus Berlin Germany
Hi Rob,
great video. Please advise - I'm going to replace condenser in my Corsa but should I apply some oil or grease on these seal rings before installation or leave it dry?
Great Video as always. Cheers
Cheers Bernard 👍
Hi do you perhaps know how to fix a faulty bonnet latch or cable on a Corsa D?
Great job👍👍
Will this be the same with a Vauxhall mokka 2013
Those seals are called Dowty washers, for AC they are a different rubber than the standard ones used on diesel pumps etc, IIRC it's about £12 rip off for the pair from Vauxhall
Thats the name, I couldn't think of it at the time 👍
I followed your brilliant video step by step and changed my condenser on my corsa d 2011. Now I got a bloody leak on heater matrix. It looks like it's leaking near the 2 pipes against the bulkhead. It's not dripping into the footwells. Can you get to the matrix from under footwells without removing the full dashboard thanks
Very informative and detailed video.thanks.
great work as normal mate.
Thank you 👍
Hi, could you please tell me where is located the A/C evaporator? I assume it's nearer the dashboard, am I right? It'll be easy to replace in garage conditions?
Great vid mate
Cheers
Jamie
Cheers Jamie
Nice work. They like to charge the big bucks for AC work here
It can be expensive to repair but mainly cause of the parts prices here.
I do not have cooling and fed up getting it fixed but now I do not have heat. Is there any link?
AC and heater are separate systems. Check you have water in your coolant reservoir.
@@OneAuto many thanks for super fast response. I have water in the coolant system. Is there an electric heater? Or blocked filter but the fan works on all settings. I really need the heater working ( even if requires to be replaced) as my wife will kill me this winter
No electric heater. The heat comes from the heater matrix (small radiator) which uses the hot engine water. Sometimes they block up and need to be replaced. Best to have a garage look at it
@@OneAuto once again very thankful. The garage told me to order a heater ( from a scrapy) as the electrician could not find any fault. I am going back on Monday, the garage mechanic is a good guy, I trust him. Maybe I assumed electric heater.
Hi where u located as my ac don’t work can you help can I just get the gas and regas it my self or do I need to put oil in the ac unit as well
Don’t bother trying yourself. Get a shop to do it who actually do the re-gas and repairs. A lot of fast fits re-gas but can’t do the repairs.
Hi rob,
Great tutorial. i have to replace my condenser on my astravan h z19dth. im an ac engineer and competent on vehicles. could you tell me if its essential that bumper needs to be removed on astra. i can see what needs to come off to get condenser out.
many thanks
darren
It's been a while but I think you can just remove the grille and get to it all. Cheers
Thanks rob. Not much on here about astra h condenser. :-)
mate - can u explain y my vauxhall corsa D radiator fan is not working when i press the AC button???
is there an easy fix that i can do myself at home???
thanks
Hi there. Can you please tell me where did you buy the seal o rings for the condenser. Are they not included with the condenser. I ordered new condenser from eurocarparts but didn't see anywhere seals to be for sale or included. Thanks
Opel Tigra B (2006). Water on the floor of the co-driver side. Condens-water of the AC-evaporator not flowing outside the car? How do I free the line?
HappyAlexandros look under the car, you may have to remove exhaust heat sheilds in the front centre. Locate the drain pipe, give it a squeeze to try to unblock it.
@@OneAuto Do you have a photo from under the car, showing the drain pipe?
Was that a steam train whistle as you were putting pipes back on with dowty washers?
Haha what the hell was that noise, I never noticed it :)
How much does this cost
Whats the average price on replacing one in a garage
300, 400 you need to ask locally as Labour rates differ everywhere
Looks like im living on microwave meals and pot noodles for next month 🥲
Should I be worried about that chain rattle when cold start?
It won’t get better and will eventually jump teeth
@@OneAuto it's the z14xep engine, astra h. Will get her looked at, also come back with few quotes next week cheers.
If you mean that the chain is loud even on a cold engine then i'd definitely get a new kit fitted if my Z12XE Agila started doing that. Mine gets a little noisy (but not very much) only when the oil has become hot (some time after the coolant has reached 90°C), but otherwise it's whisper quiet. 70k miles.
Very good!!
where r u based mate???
i would like to bring my corsa to ur garage for a full AC check.
Hi Rob, can u tell me please if the mastercool tool detects the nitrogen gas (ofn ) thanks.
Yes OFN and 1234yf
One Auto, thanks Rob.
Top work
I’ve just bought an nrf condensor for my 1.2 09 Corsa d, and it comes with new o rings, my haynes manual says to use a refrigerant oil on them before installing, doing some research some are saying using nylog blue on the o rings as a lubricant, what would you recommend.
Refrigerant oil always
Thanks for the reply, would pag oil be ok, euro car parts are selling a can of pag oil (iso46) for under £7.
That’s the stuff 👍
Did you guys spotted the TY toy's in the front of the car somewhere 40 seconds before the end of the video :D :D :D ?
the fan on my cars condenser has stoped coming on could this be a reason why I don't get cold air coming though the vents anymore???
You should still get air coming through the vents when you switch the blower on. If not your blower motor might have stopped working.
One Auto, yea still get air just warm.. thought I could here something around the condenser and sprayed some soapy water and found a leak under that gm cap on the top right side of the condenser slight leak tried tighing the torqz bolt but still slight bubble..... only had it recharged 3 days ago surly that should of been picked up on the pressure test???
16vastraturbo Unless they were looking specifically for a leak a pressure test more than likely was not done. A vacuum is pulled on the system but unless it is a big leak it wouldn’t show up. Best thing is take it back and ask them to check for a leak. Sounds like you may have one
Seals at 6:50 are Dowty Washers
some lovely sexy tools you are using something I've never really got into as people don't want to pay for it over here
I will have to send you one of my number plates it will save you money in using tape
Love new tools. My old one needed a new tip but they are obsolete so had to bite the bullet. So I glad I did cause this paid for itself in the first week. Number plate covers for the win! Haha
bodgit and leggit garage They go around without A/C ??? I could never imagine it
One Auto, I just need to get all my stuff sorted and will be sending them out then another great vid
New Level Auto I know you wouldn't believe do not like spending money on their cars the spec from Ireland to England in the same car is just completely different it's hard to explain but they don't really like going for any thrills just basic basic
bodgit and leggit garage You need a trip here for a bit. Have to experience the New York side of things. People here will drive with no brakes as long as the A/C works properly.
Don't know why people bother opting in for A/C on a daily driver like a Vauxhall. Complete waste of time having A/C in Britain.
I think it's a personal preference, I have some customers who must have it and others are not bothered.
AC keeps windows demisted when weather is cold and humid, and also demists them in a matter of seconds, even if the engine coolant is still cold. And by the way, reheated air is much more comfortable than heated one. So you can see why AC on a daily driver is important in Britain too. And an AC system regularly used throughout the year lasts much more than one used only in the summer. My Vauxhall Agila A is 15 years old and its AC only needed a new compressor clutch coil (the dreaded thermal fuse issue). Everything else (except the receiver dryer, the refrigerant and the cabin filter) is original.
@@teravolt6113 Hey buddy sorry to bother you on this ancient comment. I need to change the pipes due to a leak and heard it's worth changing the dryer too. Can't see much online about doing it on the corsa. Am I right in thinking the dryer is in the tube attached to the side of the condenser? was it easy to replace? Appreciate any help you can give. thanks
Thumbs up.
Got to get ready for that hot English summer. Global warming and all.
Yep we're all gonna fry!
Very good!
