Yes, took me a while to sort everything out, but glad it finally seems to be 100%. I have to work on the mixture a little bit. I said it a bit rich and now I have to lean it out a little bit to get a bit better low end performance.

I think you should get your wife an Ultra 160 or an STX-160. I’m thinking easier to pull flyby wire throttle would be easier on a woman. But what do I know? Your wife is probably tough enough to handle it. My mom on the other hand, my 2004 12F gave her carpal tunnel squeezing that cable operated throttle. Then again, my mom was in a car accident before I was born and it kinda jacked up her wrist. Anyways nice video as always JD. It’s good that you include your family in your JetSki shenanigans
Yeah the old throttles were tough!
So I offered to get her a brand new STX 160 or a new golf cart..she took the golf cart..lol..but she likes the 1100 because it’s smaller, and also she doesn’t feel bad about banging it up at the dock.
Compare that 1100 reverse lever to ANY other make of that era. No comparison. Kawasaki had very smooth operating mechanisms.
It’s a very well built and designed ski..it actually makes me sad to see how Kawasaki has actually lost a lot of quality and durability since that era..the new skis are great, but have a bit much plastic and parts made in China and Mexico..the old Kawis were Japan and USA only..sad
100% correct. There was a lot more quality built into the 15f as far as hardware vs STX 160. That being said I do like several things about the STX 160. But it is a "cheaper" built ski than the 15f. Reverse lever. Entire hood from the hood to the hinge, latch, gas strut, etc. Fuel filter just to name a few. Man I hate I fried my 1100....dumbass....

Over the weekend my son in an effort to help inadvertently turned on the engine on our Kawasaki 310lx while water was going into the intercooler water port. (The black one on the rea of the machine )
I am a tad panicked service manual says “note
When flushing the intercooler system it is not necessary to start the engine “
Am I ok or do I need bring the 310 lx over for a dealershipall to work on. Or is the something I can do to help the scenerio out.

I love the two strokes, they are simple and really easy to work on and don’t have all the fancy electronics that can fail. That being said the 310 is so much larger and the whole design is much deeper so it’s much more confidence inspiring to take out in rough chop.
Hey JD, at around 3:49 in the video, next to the speed a small icon on the dash appears. Appears on my 310lx as well and was curious what that indicates? I was thinking it was like an ideal speed/mpg meter?
Yes that is the Eco indicator - it means that you are cruising at peak fuel efficiency!
@@JDsWaterWorld Hey JD, super unrelated but wanted to reply where there was already a convo. Just got a nano tuner from RIVA for my 22 310, and they recommended I load up the stage 2 8300 rpm tune, rather than the stage 1. They said its fine to run with no bolt ons/supporting mods. What are your thoughts on this?
Unfortunately Riva thinks they are too good for me and won’t collaborate or provide me with any of their products to test or review, so I cannot comment on the Riva tune or the performance of any of their components 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@@JDsWaterWorld Their loss! I can report i ran the stage 2 tune without issue, but only saw 69mph top speed. Though i think its due to the insane heat down here in South FL.. Adding a BOV block off plate soon to see if that helps as ive heard stage 2 targets 17.5 psi and BOV opens around 16.5
Just got a 310 and was so disappointed it’s about the same speed as my vx1800
The ultra 310 is very big and heavy. It’s not the fastest ski on the market but, it is the most durable and most capable ski. And I’m not sure what the top speed of your VX would be, but the 310 gets there a heck of a lot faster
JD - I always value your opinion -- is this a decent deal? It’s close to me and I’m considering it unless it’s over valued .
2022 Kawasaki 310 LX-S for sale 10 hours - kspeed trumpet / Intake grate/ Riva racing sponsons /. Very nice trailer + extra tire $17,000-thanks in advance -- what do you really this this package is valued at sir?
Does it have an extended warranty for that price? It’s going to need $$$ in maintenance imminently including the first oil change, and if it’s been sitting since 2022 with such low hours with fuel in the tank, the fuel filter and pump may have an issue if it was stored with fuel containing ethanol - hard to determine. Make sure you get a test ride first and flog the crap out of it to make sure it runs good. I have no clue about the Riva sponsons, but make sure they give you the stock grate and sponsons in the deal as well
@@JDsWaterWorld brother I cannot thank you enough for responding. I will take everything you mentioned into consideration. I might just bite the bullet and purchase a new ski. HOWEVER , I was able to finally get out on the water yesterday on a Kawasaki 310 x . That sealed the deal that I’m going with Kawasaki. It cut through chop like butter, the 310 is just a beast and whole lotta fun. Now I just need to find the correct model , year and reasonable price. At my age I can’t wait forever for the perfect deal, so I might indeed purchase a left over new 2023 or new 2024. BTW, just minutes ago I re-watched your video from about a year ago in the construction of the Kawasaki. You are the sole reason I’m ditching Sea Doo and going with Kawasaki. Again THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR.
Ohh that reminds me- if you are buying a used 310 (2022+) make sure that all of the recalls were done (there were 3 total recalls for the 2022 models: knock sensor software, wire harness and water seal kit). Thanks for the comment man, all I’ll say is this: the Kawasakis are not perfect, but they are built better than anything else out there. The 310 (like any supercharged ski or vehicle) does require lots of maintenance if you want it to stay reliable, but honestly everything is very doable with just a few special tools
@@JDsWaterWorld thank you sir. I mentioned the recalls to the people I’m contacting with 2022+ for sale. The one I rode this weekend just got out of the shop after I asked home about the recalls. He was trying to sell his 300 x as it wasn’t working well. I may have asked you this but is there any after market stuff (KSPEED) or other stuff to get the 160 to a solid 55 to 58 mph?

I just finished restoring this ski..lol. It rips with the CDK2 setup. I have a brand new pump and solas impeller I’ll be throwing on as well. Would love to get my hands on an STX-R though. Hate all of the DI models they are junk I will agree to that.
