I am curious: when you first right click on the clip in the timeline, what is the difference between choosing to make it a new Fusion clip versus just clicking open in fusion? Thank you :)
If you open a clip directly into the fusion page, it will take Original media source as Media Input in the fusion composition, for example, the media-in resolution might be different than your timeline setting. But if you create a fusion clip first, the fusion composition will take the scaled/transformed result in the timeline as the Media Input. Also if you create a fusion clip with multiple vertically layered clips, it will automatically add multiple media input nodes merged accordingly in the fusion composition.

Can I do the first technique with an overlay too ? So basically instead of using a text node, I would connect it to another Media In/Video ?
Yes, you can use this technique with any media type, image, video or paint etc
