This is the reason why Guitar Hero VI is still one of my favorite games, for giving the chance to came across this guys’ incredible music. Being 22 what were my chances? But now I’ve heard all their albums and Jethro Tull is and forever will be my favorite band!
Maximum respect for Martin Barre. Maximum respect. But, like 100% of Tull songs, live or studio, the PERCUSSION "sells" the song -- lays down the foundation, pushes the groove, floats through chord and song structure changes. I've been a guitar player since I was 14 years old in 1978. I always focused on the guitar parts . Deep Purple. Floyd. Sabbath. Zeppelin. Cream. Who. Blues cats. The Mud Man Wolf. Willie Dixon. Albert King. Lil Ed & the Blues Imperials. Lefty Diz. Melvin Taylor. Respect.
I saw Tull live ten times between 1977 and 2008. That's one song that I've never seen them perform live. I can't believe that, until today, I had never seen this video.
Funny how that works. Saw them 7 times between 1980 & 1998 and caught Fat Man twice. But never saw Bungle In the Jungle...which they were playing on at least two of the tours I saw.
@@MrSnappy67 I never saw them do Bungle in the Jungle, either. Probably my best memory was when they did Budapest. I believe that that was the '08 show. But no two Tull shows are ever alike.
There’s a couple of other lively performances of it out there - always a joy to listen to. They may have been more recently posted, as I see your comment is from 7 years ago.
+Jacqueline Anderson It must be a great feeling to know one has written such a splendid song ... I an seems to really be enjoying it ... this is a rousing rendition of this tune !!!
'when Peter was just a wee lad in short trousers' love that phrase. some years ago my then-girl and my friend and i were in the car and i used this phrase to describe something that happened in the past to indicate that it was distant past. They both, seeming confused, said at almost the same time: 'who's Peter'.
I saw them perform this at least once (maybe twice), along with many others songs from Stand Up in 1999 as it was the 30th anniversary of the album. I didn't know they played this on stage in late 1983, at a time when Ian Anderson had released this unexpected solo album with Peter-John Vettese full of synthesizers and drum machines. Nice extended version. Thank you for uploading. :o))
FABULOUS ANd I Am So glad You are Perfect And Like a star in the sky near God. congratulations. your poems are beautiful and great to hear because you are delicious and superb. thank you so much for the opportunity to listen your pena gil
Ian's voice was so strong and clear at this time and when that flute kicks in its just awesome, im thin and still can't find a woman who will love you in the morning and all the night time 2
Best performance I saw of Fat Man was Oct 10, 1980 at the Providence Civic Ctr. Ian, Dave and Peter were dressed as bums sitting on a park bench, this live recording is close to though.
Live at Montreux 2003 is a fantastic version of this song. Giddings & Noyce having heaps of fun playing percussion and Martin playing the flute verse lines.
At a hot summer day at a festival in Wiesbaden - Biebrich at the river Rhein on the Rheinwiesen 1991 ?! Jethro Tull lighted a firework in terms of their stage - show above all their wonderful music I will never forget these exciting moments which I had the privilege and joy to photograph

Always had good bass players: Glenn Cornick, Jeffrey Hammond, John Glascock, David Pegg, Jonathan Noyce, David Goodier ... David Pegg maybe the best of them ....
Dave Pegg can sure hammer, I'm glad he chose that particular instrument bass guitar, which is my favorite of all instruments, besides Fife and drums of course! Much love into the future for all guys in Jethro Tull, you made damn good music and brightened up this life plus you integrated the working man with heaven in a very stout way 🐈❄️🌲🌲🌲 good fellers always in this band.
Ian Anderson und Tull begleiten mich seit meinem 14ten Lebensjahr, angefangen mit dem Album Stand UP, Passion Play ist super sowie Dharma for one ect.Vielen Dank!
Damn. This is tricky to play. Seriously. Think of it as several weavers weaving a complicated fabric on a loom at breakneck speed -- and not f-cking up. Remarkable. Tull music is the creme de la creme of Rock music.
Jethro Tull is one of the best live bands I've ever heard...
I'm not sure if it was intentional, did your write "heard" as opposed to "saw"? Either or I think you are spot on!
Joey Joe Joe Jr. 3 times in Philadelphia and each time was better than the last!
Possibly my
I agree with you
Homer Simpson would think your name was weird.
Monster bass, flute, guitar, and bongos! Showmanship, sitting down! Great vocals. Perfection.
That bass really outstanding

I'll bet you say that about all the bands, don't you?
Martin Barre once again provides both the foundation and the highest peaks to this song.
Maximum respect for Martin Barre. Maximum respect. But, like 100% of Tull songs, live or studio, the PERCUSSION "sells" the song -- lays down the foundation, pushes the groove, floats through chord and song structure changes.

Love the BASS!...........Fantastic!
What a marvelous, spirited and brilliant performance of this not so well known tune!! And that bass solo - WOW, dynamite, wicked cool!!!
Never been a more talented lead man that IA

Should only be attempted with adult supervision.

This has always been one of my many favorite jethro tull songs!

Wow never saw this video after being a Tull Fan since 69!!!! Excellent!!!! Thanks for posting
Fav band EVER.... saw Jethro Tull four times in my teen years...always an absolute pleasure!!! ❤️🥰
Stand Up is one of the greatest albums ever created.
Can't wait to see them this summer!
Ian's vocals were brilliant. Great footage.
A year later, his voice was gone - sadly, never to return to this strength.
An amazing performance by consument musicians. Sheer perfection.
The Great Ian...what can I say? I love the dancers ...so uninhibited.Bravo!
Not only great music, but what group ever had more of a sense of fun?
Early Beatles and The Who would be the only other bands I could come up with.
Paul Revere and the raiders before Paul revere passed
@@pseudosmith4979 Queen. They used to drop blow up dolls from the ceiling and blow stuff up. Boring now, though.
This song earned an Oscar
What movie was that? I heard it in Boogie Nights!
Excellent, Bass is very slick.
Jethro Tull played background music for my life through the 70s to mid 80s
'when Peter was just a wee lad in short trousers'
love that phrase.

😆
They should've replied with '...still am!'
One of my favorite tunes by JT.
One of my favorites as well. And a great live version here. Loved it.
Ein Vollblutmusiker🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶👌👍der Spitzenklasse !!!👌
Finally some great JT sound live!

I saw them a few times back in the 70s. Once at The Free Trade halls. It's great to see all this great music on line.
Dave Pegg of Fairport Convention on bass...
Jethro Tull expressão máxima da música
This song has always kept me thin........................it's very true!.........thanx Ian!

Sem dúvida alguma, uma das melhores bandas que já ouvi.

I think thats Dave Peg playing the second Mando. Maartin Allcock? Tony Williams?

Dave Pegg.....what a master!!!
Epic!
He so reminds me of "Oddball" from the movie "Kelly's Heroes" Donald Sutherland's character
Ian rocking that mullet. Amazing song
Magnifique! Surtout le bout à partir 3:21 jusqu'à 3:57. Wow!
Very funny.. as Always with Jethro Tull
I heard many years ago that Ian was now a salmon farmer! I bet he could make a fish sing for dinner!
ES IMPRESIONANTE LO QUE ÉSTE SEÑOR HACE CON UNA SIMPLE FLAUTA TRAVESERA......
The greatest Band in the World.
Ian Anderson seems like he's a pretty funny guy😂
Sport et etudes
Simple Great.
Fucking love.. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE
This I would love to see performed whilst sitting in a cozy but noisy pub with a pint in hand.
And no clapping thank you.
Ian must have come straight from the Walk Into Light photo shoot...(Dare I ask: Could that be called a mullet he is sporting??)
Best heavy metal song😄(best heavy metal band 1976)
Incomparable yan
There's only one Ian Anderson!
And sadly, now there is only 1/2 of one Ian Anderson! :-(
