- Find out EXACTLY how accurate your relative pitch is on a scale from in 0 to 20. Anyone can take it! You don’t need to have perfect pitch to take this test. This test only involves your ability to recognize and memorize different pitch changes in a short melody.
IMPORTANT: If this test was VALUABLE and FUN for you, I dare you to challenge your friends on your social media and see what score THEY get! :) As of right now, it seems that the whole planet wants to take this viral test. Should we challenge famous singers such as Adele, Ed Sheeran or Billie Eilish? Let's start a petition here. 😀Also, I have a 2nd TEST that tests your ear in a different way. It is also perfect for practicing and sharpening your ear!

I'm sorry, but my ear says to me whispering words of wisdom that this link seems to be wrong ! It appears that you've suppressed this last vidéo... You can't let it be 😉
Musically yours 🎸🎸🎷🎷🎵🎶🎵
@Pardon My Piano Why did you remove the video of the link you posted in this description?
@@conniepr UR doing the right thing. Practice makes perfect/don't let perfect be the enemy of well enough. I "heard" that learning piano is very beneficial(come what may). I can't retain My lessons, but it's a "grand" ol' time!
Well, your first test somehow popped up in my video feed. I was curious so I took the test. I was more successful with your first test than this one. I got one wrong on your first test. I got eight wrong on this test!
@@brandillysmom Same. It's the algo's; usually do their job well.
Well I can't believe it I got 19/20. I definitely had to close my eyes to feel and remember the notes. I love this. I'm a 71 yr old woman picking up an instrument after a lifetime of experiences. I played piano as a child for a few years and loved it. Thank you for doing these exercises.
I got 19 out of 20 also. I missed number 16. 😜
@@kathleenr4047 me too, that one was literally a brain destroyer. the moment the 6th note came in i stopped being able to just replay it in my head :( i wish i had better memory
i did the same thing only got 18 tho
i got 20 wrong I thought 2 came in too fast in the second time
Harder to remember the sequence when the first note is changed so defnatwly challenges memory!
Am I really the only one here that thinks this is not just a test of pitch but of memory as well? If a sequence of notes is harmonious, the mind can remember the notes together and recall it as a single song.. however many of those note combinations were not harmonious so I found myself trying to remember each one in part, and after a day of work having to keep 5 notes in mind is not that easy.. I got 16/20 but I bet I would have gotten all of them right if the note combinations would have been harmonious. I'd bet that even with more than 5 notes, for something nice sounding I would have gotten it correctly.
same but does that invalidate the perfectness of our pitch? my ahdh was all like "ooh lizards' and then i completely blanked on what i was supposed to have been listening to... also got 16/20, coincidence? probably
@@sourgrapes7482 I didn't save my results, it would have been funny to check if we got the same 4 wrong. It may be that they are the most challenging memory wise.
I totally agree.
Definitely memory also.
Agree.
11 right. I have to say though, it's not that I wouldn't HEAR it, I have just problems remembering the note sequences. (I'm 56 - and it doesn't get better ;) )
I love this! I got 16/20. It helped to close my eyes as the questions got harder, and a couple of them I was really close, only missing it by one note. My dad had perfect pitch, and I always thought I was tone deaf, but I guess not. Thanks for this :)
Same here
Thanks for sharing about closing your eyes - I tried that for my second attempt and it helped a lot!
I miss no 20… my ph rings at the same time 🤪
14/20 which I think is pretty good considering I’ve never played any instrument or have any musical experience!
First time I scored 12 and first one missed was 4.
I took twice. Second time was 14 and first one missed was 12.
I enjoyed taking the test.
I remember taking some type of musical test in about the fourth grade. The result? “Don’t bother trying to be a musician!”
I still enjoy most types of music.
Thank you for creating and sharing!
I'm a non-musician, I got 18/20. I generally love listening to all types of music. This is a cool test!
Just the last 4 that tripped me up on this one! I self-taught guitar over 10 years ago, but haven’t touched it in the last 5ish years. I’ve been telling myself to get back to playing & learning, so maybe this is my sign to do it!
19/20 and wasn't sure about another but got it right. Thanks!
I just did the previous test ending with perfect pitch, which people have said about me but I didn't believe. Thanks to you, I believe it now! I'm looking forward to this one, too!
Great upload video 😍😍 thanks for sharing ❤️
Hope you found it valuable!! 😁
¡Very tough! 17/20. Except for when 1 was the different note, it kind of became a test for me of how well I recognized a change in the intervals, and where the first interval change happened.
This was so fun!
I struggled with the last one but all others are correct. I've been singing in choirs for 8 years and we have all kinds of weird harmonies in the backing vocals, seems like it finally paid off in...well...scoring high on the test of a youtube video :D
20/20 🙂. fun exercise. Thanks!
Well, I'll put myself out there for the low-score folks :D I got 11/20 correct - and for 3 of those, I gave myself credit if I could identify "yes something changed" even where I couldn't identify which note it was. When I got things wrong it was mostly because I thought "those all sounded the same" with the exception of two: #12 and #20 I indicated the wrong note changed. I did struggle the most toward the end - like other folks mentioned, with trying to hold the 'memory' of the notes in my mind. If it were more of a melody, it might've been easier but I can't say that for certain.
Thanks for this!
I got 2 correct. Like legit correct. For many others I thought the wrong Note had changed, for a few I did not hear any change at all.
I got 13 correct.
Why did we all have trouble with 12?
20/20 really fun test to do
17/20 : Not so bad. Last one was a total puzzle for me. Thank you!
This was so fun! I got 20/20 ^^ I admit, I was struggling a bit towards the end, but it was doable for me. I thought that maybe I don't understand music all that much, but this helped a little.
Thank you very much dear Sir really! 17/20., Actually, 17,19,20 was those I've missed. Can you provide us with more similar tests.?
Fun to see If My ear is still good,
Thanks Gary
I'm not a musician. My boyfriend is a guitarist. I told him not to tell me the answers. I sadly missed 5 of them. It really got challenging for myself in the 6 note range. Fun test though. Thank you.😊
Damn, this was great!
I had doubts but got it right in questions 13 and 17 but somehow I'm not quite sure why the only one I had trouble with was 9 😮 . Swear I could only listen to the different note by my third time, while trying to understand the reason. I think I got it though. My brain was expecting the second sequence from the beginning. I realised those were the notes that I thought I'd heard in the first sequence too so I couldn't tell the difference 😅. Very very interesting. Thanks
17/20, can't complain, I was expecting so much worse! It got harder when it started having more notes, cause I started having a hard time remembering the first ones.
This was FUN! 100 percent.
Very valuable as I did study music. I messed up after the 6 th probably I wasn't paying attention. I will take the test again.
I got 20/20 - which surprised me! I found most of the first 15 pretty easy, but I wasn't as confident on no's 7 & 12 for some reason, although I did get them right. Numbers 16 - 20 I found more challenging, but I got the right answer for each of them. When I went to check the answers I was just hoping I hadn't embarrassed myself, so I'm pleasantly surprised by my 20/20!
Same! 20/20 but i thought i messed up #12
Same
I got 19/20. I messed up last one.
I messed up 20 probab;y because I thought its over and shifted focus
I found 12 hard too. I missed 9, 12, 17, 19, 20
20/20 - My parents have always told me that I have perfect pitch, but I had no idea what that meant. I did research into it recently, and wanted to find a quiz to see if i actually have it, but I don’t know the notes names so this test was really helpful for that. I’ve never taken any real music lessons of any kind; I’m self taught ukulele and guitar. I didn’t think this quiz was that hard, until I saw the comments and seeing how other people did. I am shocked at how well I did! The concept of a musical ear is so strange and mysterious to me. I’ve always kind of doubted the fact that I can ever do anything musically, but I think this has inspired me to try more things in that field. Thank you for creating this quiz! It has been really helpful to me and many others :)
This test is for relative pitch, not perfect pitch. You are comparing 2 passages and thus there is a reference. Perfect pitch implies you can identify the name of any note played, sing any note on cue, and identify the key of a song or passage. People with perfect pitch can also identify the closest named note in everyday sounds like a bird song, car horn, etc.
20/20! Although I have to admit I replayed the last one.
15/20. Might have some hope to try an learn an instrument?
16/20!! messed up 3 at the final row, and one at the middle i couldn't decide between two notes (one of them being the right answer, at least)
19/20. I got question 14 wrong (picked 3). Weird, because that wasn't one of the ones I felt unsure about. That was fun, thank you.
12/20 , had 10/11, after that there were too many to remember. Thanks for test! One day I will repeat that and maybe it will be better score.
I got them all right, but when the changed note brought more resolution to the starting note than the original I started questioning my memory. Lol. Cool teat
I got all of them right but I had to replay like 6 of them because I was busy typing what I thought it was in my notes I had fun loved the video!!
Awesome! Took it two times before looking at the results and got 2 significantly different scores:
14/20 first time and 17/20 the second time around
Thank you for providing this test!
15/20, hoping I can learn pitches better because I'd like to be able to make music some day
beautiful musical ear maiko🎉i love you❤
This was super fun. I only missed one. :) But I'm a singer and have been singing sing I was a kid and am now in my 40s so I should be good at this.
That’s an excellent score!!! I’m glad you took this test 😃 thank you for subscribing also!
Thank you for this awesome test 🙏 I got 19/20 ! Do you have a test like this for musicians?
yey! got 19/20 on my first take, but more practice though, thanks Mike!
i got 17/20 huhuhu the test is getting difficult but thanks for this video this is so helpful for my ear training!
😄😄
20/20, first time through, with no cheating! I'm happy about that. What worked for me was that each little grouping of notes gave off a certain mood. I was able to tell then, which note changed... which became the "weak link" that no longer successfully put forth that mood. Full disclosure, though: I do have some experience with self-taught ear training.
18/20! I'm very pleasantly surprised! I missed 9 and 20. I wasn't sure of 9 while I was doing it, too.
That was fun! 🥰
i only got 9,12,17,19 and 20 wrong.
thought it would be worse. 😂
as already mentioned in the previous comments,
closing your eyes and focusing the notes really helps!
I got those wrong as well and guessed either one before or after.
7/20 man never have I played any instrument
I'm not a musician and when the questions became with 5 notes or more I kinda had hard times figuring out what was the odd note, but in the end I got 18/15 on the FIRST try! I'm proud of myself and I kinda want to learn more about music and start a singing course!
18/20. Much better than I expected.
19/20 .. Missed Q12!!
not sure this test alone can tell what type of pitch one have, though.
19/20! Number 18 was where I made my mistake of choosing 3 rather than 4. But I actually just graduated college with a music degree so I had a bit of an advantage... It sure did confirm my thoughts that I have relative pitch though! It was a fun game too!
I also hesitated on 18. I wonder why 18. I listened to it a second time after finishing the test and it is so clear that the different one is no. 4.
Audiation will save your life, always audiate before hearing the pitches!
15/20
Nine and ten sounded the same for some reason and I missed a few towards the end but that might partly be me losing attention span because I'm doing this a bit tired lol
Towards the end it felt more like an exercise in memory than hearing, I could hear that something was different but couldn’t remember what the first sequence sounded like well enough to know which note was off.
when the 5th note of the 2nd group of notes sounded kinda erased the 1st note of the 1st group
20/20, but would agree with another commenter that number 18 is where one could slip up. I wonder if that is due to its place in the series of questions or perhaps a fatigue that sets in? I hesitated for a second , but chose the right answer. Interesting test.
I slipped on 17, very annoyed, I lost concentration.
I had all right except 20. I rushed through it. Fun test. ❤
I was wrong at 9 and 12. It is good enough I guess to enjoy the music but not so sure if this apply if I am interested in composing music … any thoughts? Thanks for sharing this test.
Good Times! Thanks
10/10
Started having problems about #9
I am recovering from a concusion and plan on taking it again in the future. 😊
13/20, i really struggle at the memorization. I can tell that's normal since i haven't play any instrument and not practiced.
19/20! Missed the 12, I'm wondering if I'm the only one ? You should set up a GForm so that people can tell you what they got right or wrong and we could make statistics around it! ;)
All good! :D
I got 11,12,19,20 wrong. Think I might have done better if not under the timer but accepted that those were the rules! Also, took this test under concert conditions: as in, I'm a guitarist, so I'm really quite drunk :D Thx for making these videos
18/20. Got no.13 and no.20 wrong. Gave it a another go, got them correct second time around. Good job on the test, it's good.
got 20/20, and aced the pitch perfect test as well. When I tried playing along on my piano to the first of the two samples of each question, I got 50% of the notes right first try, and never had to try a third time
20/20. Ive got a robust memory and Simon used to be my favorite game as a kid. I grew up listening to and playing music but its been years since I picked up an instrument. I wouldnt say I have perfect pitch but its pretty good. The downside is that whenI hear a musical pattern or note/ chord progression somewhere and I hear it elsewhere my mind will go into overdrive figuring out where Ive heard it before. I can still “Beat Shazam” though. 🎼🎵🎶
Like you, I am always recognising what sound to me like musical plagiarisms and wonder how they get away with it!
I get really peeved when they accompany a radio drama or documentary with some music which I find really interesting but haven't heard before and then they offer nothing in the programme description or credits by way of identification. Also music often distracts me from the programme content by being more interesting!
I scored 16 1/2. The half was where I lost count and couldn't make up my mind whether the different note was 4 or 5 so wrote down 4/5 and awarded myself the half point. I love music but have never learnt to play an instrument. 69 is probably a bit late to start.
Totally agree on all points. This is a more melodic version of Simon! Got the same slight stress anticipating the next round of notes. Took me right back to childhood.
likewise for me, I also always try and figure out what I heard when I recognise it.
@@user-yq2wk6yg8s Never too old to learn. Your brain will love learning a new skill.
20/20 used to play cello in grade & middle school and since i have what i like to call sheet music dyslexia reproducing what i heard or remembered having heard was so much easier. 😅
Shoutout to my old cello teacher who forced me to quit learning because she was hardcore into playing by sheet only. F you for taking my only stress relief Carol. 🖕
I was well pleased with 14/20. Some of the ones I missed where marginal too. My guitar and piano playing influencing my musical ear are obviously coming along much better than I thought. Great idea.
Same here
12 out of 20 correct. Started having problems identifying the wrong pitches on 12. This is a great exercise for the ear! Thank you.🎹
same here 12 an got bad number 11 12 13 an 17 19 20, so must be like music or pitch memory retention XD
Hahah why did we all find 12 so hard?
I wondered the same thing. 12 shows up a lot if you scan this comment section.
15/20 for me: thought 9, 12 and 16 were the same(!) and wrong answers for 19 and 20. I consider myself very poor musically, although love it, and it hasn't stopped me learning guitar in the last few years, however badly!
19/20, the whole step with 16 at the end messed me up lol.
This was an interesting test. I by no means have perfect pitch, but I've come to understand that I have pretty good relative pitch. Being a metal musician, remembering 6 notes for 5 seconds is pretty easy :P
19/20. I'm honestly surprised. I haven't even been playing the piano for a year yet!
The three I got wrong were all cases where there was something I found dissonant in the first thing but corrected in the second one and in two of three cases was the second number I wrote down because I wasn't sure, but still not bad for almost no musical training. Only 12 gave me real problems when I went back to listen to it again. Thanks!
14/20.. I heard very similar the questions 9, 12, 14, 16 and 19, and the last one I thought it was the no. 5 😅 but wow!
20/20,... I suffered a TBI and this was still easy. I've also been composing music since 14, performing since 16 and rarely miss a day of playing.(and I was born 1970)
Got 18/20. I find myself identifying ascending intervals better. Both the misses were from my hesitation choosing which note of the ascending interval (because I know the difference is there) but the incorrect was chosen. I guess that I'm close.
I thought I had below average musicality but on the two of your video tests that I tried, I scored above average. 😊
I’m pleasantly surprised
Non musician and have not taken lessons before (with hearing impairment, most critically in the midtones)
I had 11/20
I started struggling from question 10 onwards.
20/20 I honestly didn't think I would do this well, I've been taking voice lessons for about a year and a half. I've been asked if I have perfect pitch before, but when I looked up the definition it said 'able to hum (or play) a note without a reference' (paraphrasing), and when I try to find a note, I use a reference in my head (Yankee doodle is my favorite to use since it starts on middle c lol.) Super fun video, I've been looking for one for musicians to challenge me and I found it! ❤
Just realized i could do what u said about finding a reference. I thought of the first note of home on the range (as i learned on the piano many years ago (im a teenager so many years to me was like close to a decade ago)), remembered said note was an A, looked up what an A sounds like and discovered it was the same tone!
@@TheUnknownery Reference notes make it so easy to find other notes. I have good relative pitch, so if you give me a chord (and sometimes a note) I can hum up or down the scale and find other notes. That's why I like using yankee doodle, it starts on middle C, and the first few notes are CCDE, so it makes it easy to find other notes close to it on the piano! (Also, I know what you mean. I'll say "When I was little blah blah blah.", and when I was little was 10 years ago instead of the 20 I'm making it sound like 🤣)
@@crazy4chessred195 lol yea i def am good with finding a scale from a note. One thing i sometimes struggle with tho is transposing a tune more than half a step higher or lower in my head, gets me all mixed up
@@TheUnknownery definitely 😅🤣
I got them all but idk if i have perfect pitch, i could hear all of the pitch changes clearly
I got 18 of 20. Stumbled on #12 and #20. Concentration really becomes important when it plays 5 or more notes.
I was really surprised getting 4 wrong.7, 12, 17 and 20. It was definitelly a hard test but I took it like a champ without the fear! :> thank you. this is certainly entertaining. wish you had more of this and maybe even longer ones. :) Also I found question 18 the easiest and I had it right after the note 4 played second time. It would be very embarasing if that wouldnt be the right answer haha because I was sooooo sure the 4th note changed. :D
I missed the same ones except I got 7 right and 9 wrong.
@@thisisme5487 same here... 9, 12, 17 my first choice was wrong, but my second choice was correct
Missed number 9, I thought you threw in a trick as both sets sounded like same notes. I had to listen to it 3 times to figure out note 3 had changed. Interesting Thanks again. Really fun to see how well trained the ear is!
I thought they were the same at first also!
Totally AGREE !
I had the same thing!
@@supergoober3 I also though a few of them were the same. I thought he would have told us if he was going to do that.
That's one I missed too. Thought it was the same also.
Michael you are a tease the first 10 were easy then difficult after that - I am a singer and a long term follower of music - over 70 years - I am starting to loose some hearing now at my age I had a score of 13 but only 6 of the last 10 were correct.
I did not pause, got 12 out of 20, and am reasonably happy. Again, thanks!
Got 2 points. Very accurate with my skill level. 🎉😂
I did the test about tone deafness before and got in the above average range. The result of ths test in this video depicts my abilites or lack thereof much better.
lezgo!
Missed 12, 15 & 17 I was actually surprised I missed any... but it did get hard with the more notes you had... 12 really surprised me.
Mine is 19/20
I failed at Question 15.
For Questions 17 and 20, I was not sure between two options (I'm not writing them to avoid spoilers).
But, it was great and fun :)
16/20, been playing guitar for 15 years, I always need some trial and error to identify some pitches.
19/20 and I can't believe it! I'm 60 years old and once I learned piano at school. But I don't play it any more, only a few times in the last 40 years. But I looooove music a lot!
Honestly cant believe i got all correct as a person who has never touched a piano or tried singing much (even tho ppl liked my voice).
Interesting to do! 16/20, I only play drums, have worked with music much of my life & would love to play piano & guitar, can't really pick notes & chords tho.. Just cringe when something sounds dissonant! 😂 Missed 9,12,17 & 20.
WHY DID WE ALL MISS 12?!
12/20 the first time. Will take it again sometime and see if I improve.
Easy test of my life 20/20. Just audiate everything and it’s a complete cakewalk
20/20
This my 2nd of these tests. Got 15/15 on that.
Are these tests just trolling for comments or do they mean something?
18/20.
Been playing piano my whole life and have decent relative pitch. I can figure out most songs by ear within a few minutes.
This is great for testing relative pitch however I'm not sure you actually can train perfect pitch...
Thanks for taking the test! I hope it was a valuable experience for you! :)
@@PersonalStash420 id say youre born w it, you can train to be close to absolute pitch tho. but every AP person i know it was noticable from 2y/o.
On UA-cam, there is a C261.63 note. I add to favourites. Several times a day I sing or think the note and then play. At first I could be a tone out, but after a year, I am usually within a few cycles. I call it almost perfect pitch. I am 66yo.
each time when the second melody comes in i just repeat in my head each note from the first and compare it
Non-musician here, doing it once as you said and got 14 out of 20. Got 6, 9, 11, 12, 17 and 19 wrong. Pretty nice.
Messed at 12 & 13 but if it wasn't based on sequence memory only I think I'd score just around half answers ;-;
I may not be pitch perfect but I think I'm alright. I spend a lot of time humming tunes to match the pitches right and I create a lot of my own as well, I basically do that every day. I got 20/20. I must say that at 16 and after I definitely felt more unsure about my decisions, but I still pulled through.
Fascinating, I got all but 12 and 15 right. My father who was a semi pro musician would be disappointed in me lol
20/20 never stopped the video once. Next
Missed 14, 16, 17, 19 but #14 I thought is had 2 wrong notes, my 2nd guess being the correct one, but I erased that and kept my 1st answer. #17 also sounded like 2 notes were wrong and I should have chosen my 2nd guess. As someone else put it, it's easier to recall chords minor or major, but harder to recall when the notes clash with each other to begin with. I would love to have these tests but with different instruments as well. Can someone get most on a piano, but only half on a brass instrument? You'd have to make sure to record the brass or woodwind once for every note and only play back the initial time you played each note, to avoid any slight variation. How about Harpsicord vs piano? Glockenspiel ?
