The "move to a terrible country" got me wheezing LOL. Like, I'm technically living in one such country (so I don't actually have to move at all) and the buying power of USD is just so good here that I'm actually able to live off of only commission money, it's insane. Definitely a good advice for people who don't mind and have the ability to relocate themselves.
ngl its actually great! people just need to do a bit of research first, because some places have terrible internet services, but overall, where I am living, it could be perfectly fine to live off of commissions if you make around $500 USD per month. Ideally, more than that would increase the comfort, but that is the base for a single person to live just fine. You can afford living comfortably in a more secluded and safer place with nice nature around you (thing one doesn't have in big cities in this country here) and we have a free healthcare system once you have citizenship. The country is Brazil. Don't try to buy stuff from internet, the shipping is expensive.
Thanks for the tips! Another trick that is working for me is to upload UA-cam video and promote my commission at the end of the video, because people who watch my video until the end probably like my content or my art style shown in the videos, or sometimes I'm blessed with ultra rare viewer who just likes me in general and want to support me through commission. I really recommend doing youtube especially for artists who do VTuber model commissions. I became a Vpapa for six VTubers this year so far, three of them found me through my youtube channel.
if you can make more than 1000 dollars in commission a month youd be a king in Brazil. Argentina even better. i minimal wage in brazil is less than 200 USD.
Thank you for the tips! Please, set on vts your vtuber model to always blink both eyes at the same time. It will prevent your model to have sudden eye trembling. Wish you all the bestt.
Oh my god i used to be in art and commissions, tons of people left after the owner admitted to being a zionist 😭 myself included, it was absolute chaos Edit: spelling
Yeah, i can relate with your lack of luck. A friend of mine suggested furry art as easy and quick income, because not only him but at least two of his other friends live doing this. It has been almost 3 months and i got 0 commissions. I even half my prices this week. I wish know why no one is even dm me.
These luck factor is so pain to me. Like you, not a single soul comm me to the point im doubt my skill if Im even pass average? At least im living in 3rd world county rn so it is a bit done from the list, right?
@@Sayuui gotta go on them! I started my commissions on vgen and got all he sheets and stuff but idk how to get people to know I do commissions. Reddit might be a good idea :D
first of all, great video!! i wanted to ask in your opinion, do you think its ok for the artist of a commission to post the commission publicly or have it belong to the commissioner? Do you think it devalues the commission? Might be a dumb question but im curious.
I think you should always make it clear in your terms of service that if the commission is for personal use, you have the right to post it as the artist. (except for commissions that have NDAs and whatnots). You should always post your commissions! It doesn't de-value you, on the contrary. And for some people, that attracts more customers as well.
@@Sayuui understood thank you for this 👍. Have not started doing commissions but on the fence on doing it. I just love to draw what i want instead of it being for others.
@@ammarshamsul1217Also, always ask your commissioner if they're okay with their commissioned illustration being posted on your account, just in case they might not want you to! For example, my main commissioner is a big COD fan (end me), and after every commission, I ask if it's okay to post it on my instagram. Sometimes they say "yes," but most likely, they'll disagree and want to keep it exclusively for themselves for whatever reason. It's also the reason why I ask if they want their @ or other socials shared as well, and the answer is always "no" lol. Most people _are_ okay with having their commission shared, as they're most likely going to do the same, but having that extra step shows the commissioner that you care/value how they feel about it! I'm mostly stating this because my main commissioner doesn't really share their boundaries unless I ask first. (I'm the first artists they've commissioned and they're a shy person lol.) Knowing that there are people like that, I make it a habit to always ask beforehand! Otherwise, making a reference sheet to what kind of commissions you do using your own characters and whatnot would be the better option. In short, most people are chill, but asking before posting is never a bad idea :p
