I’ve experienced same issue, but got fix with simple approach. After watching this video, I thought about DIY. However, Because of not having thermal camera, it was hard for me to determine correct IC, so I touched it but couldn’t feel difference so gave up and closed it. The beauty of the world was that my curiosity insisted me to plug a charger in usb-c and it indeed worked.
- No wonder how because what happened was that IC doesn’t pass current once it detects threat. So, replacing/removing IC means diminishing disabled IC. However, it can also be enabled by removing battery -> plugging charger to usb-c port to reset current flow -> remove the charger after 10-15 seconds and reconnect battery with the board. All set.

Not sure how I stumbled upon your channel but my own 13 Spectre x360 has same issue. I had sent it in under factory warranty for the fix but after a while it happened again. Think you could fix it if I sent it in? I''m from Texas.

I recently got the problem in USB C charging port no1 .it was not changing my the laptop but the second one was working fine.. But today the second one was also stope suddenly. And after few min. It stared getting hot and getting smell like burning. After few min saw the first port was burned out half.. And laptop suddenly shutdown automatically.. But laptop was geting still hot and after 1 hours it got cold.. ( but I think that battery was 75% when it port 2 was in working) .
It seems my USB c type port was damaged by short or maybe power code..
Now my question is
Could it be repair.?
Will I need to buy new motherbard?
Or just I need to replace the the USB-C type port?
Or what should I do now?? I

I've been getting allot of the spectre x360 and asus usbc laptops with the same issue. They always fail for no reason. Manufactures should do better quality check for longer periods of time.
