The ULTIMATE Gravel Gear Shifter Setup for 1x SRAM AXS
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 вер 2024
- The video covers my ULTIMATE setup for 1x SRAM AXS shifters on a gravel bike. Using a combination of eTap MultiClics and Wireless Blips, I'm able to shift up and down with either hand on either lever, and up/down with each thumb with my hands on the top of the bars.

Being able to shift up or down with either hand is the pièce de résistance! Whether it's fumbling around in a jersey pocket for snacks or holding a camera for that bike selfie (or UA-cam video) having the ability to pick your ring 😜 is sweet!
Don’t forget escaping magpie attacks with one arm waving like a madman! 🤣
@@gplama beating magpies? Isn't there 17 other AFL teams to do that for us? 😝
@@LeeMcGinleythis is ageing well 😢
Watching this has inspired me to swap my mechanical GRX to SRAM 1x. Now everytime I'm on a climb on a gravel road, I wish I had the climbing buttons. Thanks a lot Shane 🤣
The setting Completely makes sense
Thats what i was thinking during my endurance riding haha. when one hand is required to do something that setting is going to be shine.
This setup makes a lot of sense actually!
Having the blips reserved, you basically create the Campag style of shifting. shift harder with your index finger and easier with your thumb!
Great tips this.
In a week or two I'll have my first sram axs bike as well and I am looking to add the blips to the front of the bars so I can shift while climbing but maybe adding another pair is a good idea too
Totally didn't misspell "reversed" there what are you talking about 🙈
How to convert a 1x SRAM shifting to 1x Shimano shifting, 😁
I have the same setup on my 1x winter bike. It really is useful in tricky winter/wet conditions
Would be great to see an install video, curious about the blips and how they mount on the drops especially.
Thats genius especially for one hand vlogging. means you can continue filming even if you need to change gear in either direction
And rolling home from a ride with a coffee in hand. 👌🏼
Thanks for reminding me about my PowerTap pedals, they are now safely packed away for winter.

What's the bar tape?

oooo, this makes so much sense with the each side thing. Going to have to try this now I feel!
I added the new wireless blips into 3D printed holders on the ends of my redshift quick release aerobars. No hassles to take on and off. If only we could get a combined blip push to act as Garmin page changers.
I tried to have one hand control with di2 2x. It was too much for me I kept reverting to mechanical habits. But a separate shifter might be the answer for me. If I ever were to do it I’m happy with normal controls.
Amazing how all of these blip shifters bring you close to the standard Shimano setup 😜
How so?
How? Blip shifters are not standard on Shimano
Neat.
A very interesting setup! Defo not for me, but it's cool to see that it's doable and it works well for you!
You need more bell bling. Look up Spurcycle x you’re welcome x
Shane can you ditch the blips, and configure the long press to go up the cassette, and the single press to move down the cassette?
It's like using shimano 😅! Brilliant!
* Campagnolo.
I just went for climbing on my CX/Gravel bike. The 'Sprint' options for the thumbs seemed a bit excessive for me. But it is a nice to have when you're "hanging on" in rougher terrain I suppose, and the thumb is all you need to up or down shift.
On the roadie (which I have Shimano Di2) I love the buttons in the top of the hoods, which I configured for shifting. Between that, and sprint shifters and the normal paddles, I feel like everything is covered.
Personally, I find the SRAM hoods are just not that comfortable.
Is it just me or they an odd shape and excessively oversized compared to Shimano stuff?
The Red HRD levers are chunkybois. The new Rival shape/size is nice. I expect that redesign to flow ‘up’ to Force and Red soon.
@@gplama sounds like a positive direction.
While you are at it, might as well put some of the downtube for tradition's sake.
Is that like a little bit Campagnolo?? Just asking…
It’s a lot like it.
Hi GP, possible for only blips and 1x rear derailleur for tt?or do i need a road lever to sync the blips to rear D?
Yep. They've recently updated the pairing process so you don't need to use a lever as part of the pairing.
lush road
Shane, what does it mean after finishing my ride on zwift it shows in the box 4 people in orange and 647 people in black ?
thx
Did you consider switching to XPLR instead of Eagle on the Aspero now that you'll have a mountain bike?
Nope. Happy with the Eagle RD with a max 52 cog and cage lock (brilliant for changing wheels and getting the bike on/off a trainer).
Does it ever snow in Australia?
Yes
Looks like bike is too short for you. Ironically, I have the same (similar) fit preferring to be move 'over the BB' than might be traditional. Feel like it puts me in a position to balance the push between quads and hamstrings
Trying to evaluate a bike fit using a fish-eye lens is impossible.
The ultimate shifter set up for........ Filming with a selfie stick 🤳
Not sure I see the advantage of having the wireless blips reversed for normal riding.
I agree
Nice bell😂
It’s actually useful where I ride.
Nice. You've invented di2!
Extra switches cost maybe 30 cents at the manufacturing level, there's no reason theee levers should have like 5 switches on each, couple on the body, couple on the knob, so you can customize for whatever positions you use.
That sounds like an awful lot of work just to get shimano Di2 shifting. I love SRAM AXS, but if you want that shifting configuration so bad, why not use Shimano?
Switching over to an equivalent Shimano setup would be an interesting project.
It seems you are trying to replicate shimano shifters 🤣
* Campag 😉
Before even watching the video my answer is that the ultimate gear shifting set up does not involve sram…
Nope, I can’t get my head around this 🫠
