    Some of my nighttime photography friends recommended this, so I took their word for it and went out and bought one. I'm not one for reading directions lol so I figured I would search UA-cam to see if there were any videos on how to use it. I must say, your video is excellent !!! Very well done. Thank you !!

    No, I wasn't familiar with Allethrin unless it is in Off. That what I treated my cloths with.
    I really appreciate the info. Do you hike with the Thermacell MR300? If so, how do you carry it?

    • @LoneCrowAdventures

      No I do not hike with a thermacell. They make a backpacker version which I have brought on canoe trips once getting to camp but I just read a budget when it's bad when I'm hiking.b

    New user. Loved the way you explained everything. You are right regarding the supplies with the new unit because having to purchase the "spares box" at the same time means the cost is a little high in these difficult times. I think our price is higher in the U.k Thanks again

  • @dinosaur6756
    @dinosaur6756 Рік тому +3

    You can "hack" the cartridges and refill them yourself for a fraction of the price. There are a few videos out there that demonstrate how to do this. It's quite easy, and they can be refilled over and over again. You can also buy generic pads online for substantially less cost to make the product extremely economical compared to buying the name brand cartridges and pads.

    I just bought one of these. I think it's the first time I've looked forward to camping in summer here in Australia. Between the mozzies, the flys, the horse flys, the midgees and the sand flys... yeah always after something that works!

      You're basically just a donor at that point. I've learned to fend off deer flies and horse flies. Here's a secret: Native Americans (Indians) wore feathers on the back of their heads. Not for decoration but the flies attack the highest moving thing.
      All my friends who mow lawns in summer wear feathers. It keeps the flies away at least.

    in all the reviews on thermacell I have watched NO ONE mentions the restrictions....It says not to use in enclosed areas, etc..tents....I purchased it to used in a hunting blind/tent form....is this safe to use in a blind or will I have to return this and find something better?

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  2 місяці тому

      Honestly if I was using it in a hunting blind that would be totally fine but the deer are certainly going to be able to smell the thermacell so from a hunting perspective I would not use thermostat because it's going to be a strange sense for the animals you are hunting and they will avoid the area I'm sure .

    It may work, but it’s relatively very expensive to use. The claimed burn time is exaggerated. Real time experiments and average costs of refills send the hourly cost of this unit at nearly $8 PER HOUR! I’ll stick with deep woods off.

    • @FarginIceholeful
      @FarginIceholeful 3 місяці тому +2

      I agree, and in northern Wisconsin, both work well. I haven't crunched the numbers but, like with most things, there are hacks!
      A quick search will show you step by step how to refill the butane cartridges and how to recharge the scent pads. Super cheap if you are savvy enough!

    Great review! Thank you! One follow-up question to the "is it safe" question. Is it safe to use around pets? My dog camps with me, and I know some things that aren't noxious to us, are to dogs. Glad I found your channel!

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  Рік тому +3

      Oh yes perfectly safe around dogs. Don't let cats eat the scent pads because in high doses allethrin can be toxic to cats the same ways permethrin is.

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  Рік тому +1

      My personal favorite thermacell is the MR300. I don't mind messing around with butane cartridges. I like thus one particularly because when I'm on camping or fishing trips it's one less thing to charge as I usually have a lot of other tech that needs charged up. This one has a radius of 15 feet. A larger 20ft zone of protection is in the E55. A lot of people like this one because you only have to worry about liquid cartridges with no need for butane. Here's the link to that one if you're interested. www.amazon.com/dp/B08PDH936V/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_apa_gl_i_TYQKNFX58BESQPA5JFQ9?linkCode=ml1&tag=lonecrowadven-20 Not sure where you are getting bad reviews of the MR300. On Amazon it had over 20, 000 reviews when I posted this video and was very highly rated. If you filter any product by lowest reviews all the bad reviews will pop up first. Seems most people like it and I stand by my recommendation. I NEVER endorse a product I don't believe it. I'd rather not put it on the channel....

    It’s such a bummer that this won’t work for being in motion. My dog gets hit by mosquitoes when we go on walks and I don’t like using the dog repellent on her because it makes her fur dirty the more I use it. I shower to wash off the bug spray before I sleep on my bed. I can’t bathe my dog every time I use the dog repellent on her. I was really hoping this would be more like a wavelength that would keep that constant 15 foot radius. I’m really bummed since I just turned it on before taking my dog for a walk and now it’s going to be useless.

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  Рік тому

      I agree. Some people will use permethrin to spray on dog coats to help keep bugs off. Permethrin is safe for dogs (not cats)
