This is why I'm starting to hate UA-cam. I've been watching moonraven and her other channels since 2012, and I stopped by to see how her channel was going after being gone for about a year. To find out they're channel is gone really saddens me.
When Tom was attacked by the creatures, the vague description of "dark shapes swirling in around him," and a dead hand made me think for a long time that the swamp was haunted by ghosts rather than monsters. But after being obsessed with Home Safety Hotline, I think they might be fairies. The story never tells us where exactly it takes place, but it doesn't sound like America. The "Scary For Kids" version of this story says it takes place in Ireland, which makes my fairy theory hold more weight (but that website gives much darker versions of these stories that slightly expand on them. If you've seen the version of "The Thing" where the ghost touches one of the boys, that's where it came from. In the book, it never even touched them which makes a lot more sense given the twist ending).

I hope you don't mind me asking, but why do a lot of the videos on your channel have those staticky lines coming down the screen? Is it for a more sinister look? Or something else?
Two reasons: • Gives me a reason to re-upload when there's better original copies found, more of a marketing tactic while I get people's attention so even more people can know that I have the originals so it'll matter • Looks like found footage of a CGI test and I think it looks more surreal that way, especially before MoonRaven switched to higher quality
My remake was supposed to have a similar effect but with more bells and whistles (like a new voice over and custom 80s style soundtrack to match the aesthetic) but I rather wait while I get better Just know it's intentional because I like the concept of them looking old, there's a comment someone made that captured it perfectly, it looks like it's an old VHS with weird early 3D animation that is accented perfectly by the audiobook
