    Thank you Dr. for your great video!! I have a question for you bc I am confused about the tipping movement. Movement of tipping occur when:
    A. Decrease amount of force applied
    B. Increase amount of force
    C. Decrease duration of force

    Everytime I search for "piezoelectric theory of tooth movement" the pressure-tension theory comes up. What am I missing? Can anyone explain what the piezoelectric theory is? :)

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 роки тому +3

      The piezoelectric theory has been widely replaced by pressure-tension theory, but the basic idea is that a loading force placed on bone mechanically distorts molecules within the crystal lattice and electrons temporarily move to another location until the force is removed. These currents follow a certain rhythm with mastication or exercise, and are important for maintaining the calcification of alveolar bone, but are actually irrelevant for orthodontic tooth movement.
